It's not the technique that is the problem, it's cool that beginners are trying to learn. What offends me is the choreography! Hula is supposed to tell a story from the lyrics. Judging from the choreography here, I don't think you guys have researched what the translation is. You don't know the story, and that is sad. Next time, do your research.

I know many who aren't of the culture, enjoy the hula and other things of our culture...but then comes the part of showing respect for the culture by doing the culture honor and justice. This in no way would bring a smile to our ancestors, as Hawaiians. This truly is an insult to my people.

the difference is, that you are not trying to tell a story with your body when you dance Samba. With hula, the lyrics are VERY important and it is VERY important that you understand them, not just the body movements! It's the essence of the dance!
