  • works better if you keep mouth peice on'

  • He called his fish people.

  • damn you just saved me some aggravation, thanks. got 4 of the 10 danios now. Those bastards are quick.

  • Nice fish

  • very nice video

  • lol a bunch of people

nice tank love it o got same background

  • AGGGGHHHHHHHHH my bottle doesnt have a first line???? im screwed!!

  • Though this is interesting to watch you still haven't solved the initial problem. If one wanted to catch a specific fish within their tank, your fish trap would take a lot longer than attempting to net the fish.

  • i guess a 2 litter bottle would work the same way?

  • very cool idea! I have a gold fish that I swear is wearing a jetpack...it's so fast lol ^_^

  • 'I have a bunch of 'people' coming into the trap now'.... Dude you hang with your fish too much ; )

But yeah, it's a pot trap - used for catching fish. See if you can actually make one big enough for some people though !

  • Lol I'm going to need a much bigger bottle for my 16 inch oscars..... >_<

  • Thank you so much for your video! I used your design to catch three zebra danios that were too hard to catch with a net.

I really like your tank btw!

  • Thank you soo much for your video! I had three zebra danios that I could not remove from my planted tank until I tried your method! I was able to get two danios on one try!

  • how big is that tank? 37 gallons?

  • you never mentioned how to smooth out the cut.

  • lol, trying that with discus = disaster. xD

  • u are more stupid than the fish!

  • That's very clever, I'm gonna use that method.

  • ^_^ You should be proud of yerself that's an awesome way to catch Neons, danios or Otos...

I wonder if it'll work with bettas until I can train my new one to swim into a cup willingly?

  • You should have used a net ball instead because it was a water-type.

  • what king of ligth do u use in ur acuarium??

  • I have those alae waffers! lol! they're really good quality, my fishs' colors have exploded because of it! :)

  • nice and u can do that too if u have annoying bugs around your house just fill it halfway with syrup and they will go in and get stuck i did that when there were lots of wasps at my house and those fish are sick dude

  • I have a bunch of people LOL

  • how shoudl i catch a green terror like this ?? :P

  • @redglowrave I have a extension version consisting of two soda bottles with work great for catching juvenile peacock bass at this lake near my house but it take about two days to work but then again the area is much more open try to cut bigger holes

  • you didnt come up with it

  • cool vid!!! XD

  • Ok tried it ... it's not shrimp proof XD the bloody thing just reached in grabbed the food and ran .....

  • Gotta try use this for catching a chromis in my nano marine! He is impossible to catch, hopefully this will work! he needs to go back to the shop as he's getting bullied by my clownfish and damsels! I imagine it'll be a bit more aqkqard with the marines, seeing as there is live rock everywhere, but hopefully it'll work!

  • Another reason this is nice is that it causes less stress. Otherwise chasing them with a net would cause a greater amount of stress.

  • the arent people u said people

  • worked great for getting a yellow-tail damsel out of my nano reef. thanks! took only a minute!

  • @dtran637 You just answered my question haha, I need to catch a blue/green chromis! was worried it wouldn't work in a nano marine! He's getting bullied by my scarlett damsel and second chromis!

  • He's going to be too stupid to swim up the hole in time... LOL!!!!

  • awesome idea!! i will use this one!! cool

  • you didnt make it up.....

  • It may not be original, and others may have already made this. But at the time when I made this video, I did not get the idea from anywhere else. I thought of it myself without looking online or reading it in a book, but it still is probably not an original idea by me.

  • @quaqa88 lol, imagine me making a trap for my arowana, how big is the bottle gonna be?how could i even lift it up!

  • nice model rocket man. there fun

  • GENIUS!

  • you must get really bored

  • i see your point but does it have to take over 6 minuits to explain this.

  • @yournamehere954

It only took over 3 mins to explain..

  • Yeah sorry to everyone for making this such a long video. I tend to talk way too much and over explain things without realizing it at the time.

  • hey great vid, i was just wondering if its safe to put that in your fish tank? (because of the glue that holds the label on)

  • Thats a good question. Chances are you will not see any negative affects on your fish or your tank but you should at least try to wash off some of the excess adhesive with some hot water. I wouldn't worry about it, as I have never seen problems caused by the bottle.

  • ok, awesome thanks mate (Y)

  • wat size tank is urs?

  • I used to make these at school, i would sit there in class with my empty coke bottle and cut it up. I would leave the neck on it jsut because it was smooth. Works great at the creek when you put little holes in it.

  • Good video demo, this is an age-old trap design, still works great and so simple!

  • Cool, thanks!

  • Tyred to catch my monster damsel fish in my nano reef tank for 3 months. This method worked first time around in under 3 minutes. Thanks, now my reef tank is back to normal.

  • does not always work in high quality does it always work in low quality

    lol

  • oh my , your camera is like mine ... or somthing , make your voice sound soo weird LOL , your voice souded like my video voice ":|

  • another cool vid

  • thats a nice clean tank, what kinda of filter do u have

  • i ha fish like urs until my big fish ate em all lol

  • lol, my baby oscar ate 2 full sized guppies and 3 small sword tails

  • ther's only one problem....what if the fish you're trying to catch isn't hungry? lol

  • omg im goin to try.

  • you have abuncha people comin into the trap???? lol

  • What chemicals do you use in your tropical tank. Can you do a video on how to use them and when to use chemicals. i really need to know. thanks :)

  • don't put your hand into a water becouse you strees up water

  • yeah...it works

  • u do the same thing when u catch bait to go fishing. You dont have to cut off the hard mouth peice thing either. It makes it much easier and works the same way.

    :)

  • i used this to capture wild guppies and stuff

  • that's cool

  • This works the best!

  • The old bottle trick I have been doing this for more than 15 years. Next time so that you dont have take out the bottle . Put the net in fromt of the bottle then tap and tap the other end so that fish will go straight indside the net.

  • You have a beautiful tank and fish, by the way.

  • will this work with big fish or do i need to try sumtin else cause i got a fairly big pleco that i need to relocate and it keeps swimming away. BTW i got a 6 foot community tank

  • As I said in the video, you might need to try using a larger bottle depending on how large the fish is.

  • Wow, that's a good idea. The only downside would be that you wouldn't be able to specifically choose the fish that you wanted...

  • Yes but you can capture large numbers of fish at one time. Put them all in a separate container and you can then remove the one that you want with a net.

  • Oh yeah, I guess so. Still, It would be just like catching fish in the main tank, except in a smaller container. Thanks for the idea though. I'll try it.

  • nice room lol

  • Oh well I have never really seen any other fish trap. I just got the idea, made it, it worked, and I posted it here. I didn't really check to see if it was original or not.

  • Thankyou a really great invention...I have a six line wrasse that is going back to the LFS

  • man u really go brains...!!

  • great idea. hey do you think it would be ok to leave a bottle in there??? i ask this cuz i have eels

  • To smooth the rough edges of the plastic, just take a bic lighter or something, and briefly round the edges off my melting them. Just graze the fire around it really quickly. It'll melt fast so don't overdo it! :)

  • Hehe I made one of these one day and make sure to put it in when the light is off so the fish are INACTIVE , other wise the fish will get trapped ,... few fish dead here :(

  • works well.

i'd add some fishing line in order to avoid getting wet ;D

  • awsome dude! AM GOIGN TO TRY THAT becuase it takes me liek 20 mines to get a feeder gold fish out of my tank in 10 gallon lol, its werid how fish eat the algea waffers and the dont eat algea my fish go crazy after them and nice tank

  • Always fun to feed little neons to my Knife fish.

  • I don't mean to tell you how to keep your fish, but I highly recommend not feeding your Ghost Knife Fish Neon Tetras. This is because mainly in my opinion, the Neon Tetra is a fish that should be living safely in an aquarium, rather than be fed to carnivorous fish. It is not meant to be a feeder fish, which is what I do recommend feeding your Ghost Knife if you do wish to feed it live foods.

  • lol. why would people feed neons to oner fish?

  • Although I know you had other ideas in mind for the "fish trap", keep looking at this idea for other uses. I;m impressed with your invention process, well done!

    Gerald

  • Nice community tank

  • Good idea!

  • aquarium its nice trap working not really good

  • Hey, why don't you learn how to speak English before you post an idiotic comment like this because this makes absolutely no sense.

  • you could put that in a near by creek and catch friends for your fish

  • Yes, There are other vids on youtube about DIY fish traps. Also, they actually work.

  • this is good. but its much easier with a gatorade bottle because you dont have to cut the top part off because its already big enough for a fish to swim in it. then all you have to do is cut sort of around the middle and do the same steps. i usually leave my trap for a while to catch as many as possible. nice fish though.

  • nice tank

  • nice but you could just unscrew the cap and cut at the first line instead of going through all the trouble on cuting off the head.

  • Yes but I like to cut that top part of so that it makes it easier for the fish to enter.

  • This is a wonderful idea, THANKS!

I have a saltwater tank with fire worms, I am going to try this for sure! Thanks again!!

  • I also have a saltwater aquarium and I too have a worm, (I call them bristle worms), but I don't think it will work unless the worm in your aquarium is very large. But it if this is a tiny little worm, forget about it. The odds are that it will not go in. This trap is really made for fish.

  • other than the fact that you are using a "catch to eat" trap its all good. I've used this type to capture fish in the river. why would you use a that kind of trap on your pets? regardless of what you may think you can put significant stress on your tetras. As hardy a species that they are they, just like guppies, can be easily stressed out enough to die. Stick to using this while catching to eat not catch and release.

  • I didn't do this so that I can catch my aquarium fish for fun. As I said at the beginning of the video, you only make this trap if you have a fish that is way too fast to catch in a net. That way, you don't have to chase the fish around the entire aquarium with a fish net. There are times where you have to remove the fish from the aquarium for many different purposes. This could be to move it to another tank or to a hospital aquarium. Never for the fun of it.

  • yea catching them isnt stresing them out wow

  • That is were your wrong. When you are disturbing the fish by taking it out of it's environment, osmotic stress is absolutely being put on the fish. It's not serious, but leaving the fish in there too long can inflict some damage.

  • LOL.

"he's gonna be too stupid to go back through the hole"

  • How many gallons is that tank?

  • The aquarium is only 30 gallons.

  • thank you =] im gona get guppies and platies =]]

  • how many fish can i put in a 5 gallon ??

  • In my opinion I would put up to 5 fish in, but it depends on what fish. For example, you should stick with guppies and platies rather than tetras due to the fact that all tetras are schooling fish, and you should have minimum of at least 5 of that tetra species in your tank. Platies, guppies, and other livebearers are not schooling fish.

  • for every inch a fish needs a gallon

  • literally fishing in ur tank lolx

  • I actually did this in a ten gallon with three fish in it and it worked for two of them within 30 minutes

  • do you know how Giant Gurami breed?

  • wow.. i put that thingy in my tank for like 5 minutes there was about 4 bettas in the bottle

  • lol drill a hole and den tie a string to it and der goes ur line lol jux an advice so u dont get ur hands wet

  • ok i would like some help breeding fish and how to make a undergravel filter

  • You need to tell me what fish you want to breed because they all breed differently. And I don't really know how or if it is possible to make an undergravel filter. If you are looking for filters, there are much better ones out there than the undergravel filter, just so you know. And if you haven't seen my homemade filter video, you should give that a try too.

  • i seen it but i dont have any pumps and they are exspencive here

  • nice tetras do they live with guppies ?

  • It depends on what tetras they are. A lot of tetras are a little on the semi-aggressive side such as serpae tetras and these fish would destroy the long fins of a guppy. I wouldn't put them together. I like to give livebearers their own tank, such as goldfish, platies, mollies, and guppies. They are not in favor of the fast flowing warm waters that the tetras like.

  • this is really cool can u give me tips on my tank

  • What ever you need I will be happy to help you with. Just ask any question!

  • should i give u my e-mail address?

  • No just send me a youtube message or ask me through a comment.

  • pretty sick

  • work with a large soda bottle to for larger fish, i used zip ties. workd like a charm

  • how do u keep ur tank so clean?

  • I have an excellent 40 gallon filter on a 30 gallon tank, a well established biological filter that keeps the water ammonia free and nitrate free while also taking out cloudiness, a pleco which works all day at sucking algae off everything in my tank, 10 gallon water changes every 2 weeks, a gravel cleaning every 2 week, plants which take nitrites out of the water and polish the water, and I just clean whatever I see needs to be clean.

  • tnx

  • Another great aquarium gadget. You've always got the best videos!

  • damn man that is the best idea ever for those fish that u want to remove from tanks and stuff ....!!!!!!! i love that idea five star

  • ayy can you plz make more of these diy videos they are sooo helpful. =] 5 stars

  • Thanks, but just remember I only have a limited amount of ideas.

  • such a smart ass 5/5

  • wow, that trap works very effectively.

I'm gonna try that with I do a 100% WC

    Thanks for sharing!!

  • groovi idea im gonna try it
