dancers from all genres often explore styles outside of their own...i've seen janette do lyrical solos on youtube - just in the same vein that classical musicians also play bluegrass, fiddle, or jazz. it just makes you that much better! plus i think when you're as into what you do as these people are, there's that natural desire to branch out.

well good question to show versatility in so you think you can dance you should have some background in other dance styles because you are going to get stuff that is way out of your element. Also,it's good practice in case you do get that style you will be quite familiar with the style.
