dude you are smmokin hot! I will look for other stuff..I so want to play like that. I am a really good blues player but the chicken picken stuff is amazing!
Hey, wonderful playing. Im about to buy a Telecaster. Do you recommend the G&L over the Fender. I hear some wonderful things about the american made ASAT.
@chooseyourblues Hey ! Well - its a matter of taste , but yea - i would prefer G&L over Fender. It just fits and sounds better for me. Really great guitars. Still Fender are good ones as well.
that is some serious playing Sepa! I like your sense of humor and that is some great fiddlin'...double threat! see you on the TDPRI, Dan,aka telesalivas
Hey! Huh . . . well how should I put this. At that time I really couldnt improvise much (not that now I can - I'm just a bit better) so I would have to learn solo note for note - and it would be tough and would take looooots of time - so I just quickly learned the main part and goed for it :)
Thank you! I'm better with improvisation now - especially in this style , but also in others. I still need more practise improvising on fiddle though:).
Your instruments sound great too btw - especially vocals.
I understand. I usually like to know what I'm going to play instead of just making stuff up... I've never been a great player when it comes to improv ...
Wow! How did you get that great sound out of your G&L ASAT without having it plugged in? You have solved the problem that all guitarists have tried to remedy. Those pesky cables or wireless systems!!!!!
I solved the same problem in my videos, too... (except I leave the cords plugged in for 'effect'... :) )
Actually, I've seen some people tape themselves during the actual recording process, but that is a huge pain in the neck! It's enough work as it is just doing it the easy way (the way the pros do it)
Thanks , man! I would love audience who could stand it all night , but in a way guitarman is right. Peaple like it when its all mixed up , heh ... (unless its some kind of a big country festival or jam session with country musicians I guess?) :)
Fantastic. imw50, you are right. I am a 'pick' player, desperate to get in to finger picking but it seems so alien to me, i am stuck in my ways i guess... one o' these days tho. Very good, very jealous. x
Don't let the ignorant keyboard warrior(s) here get to you. It's just envy. You play great. Nothing wrong with copying the greats. They all had their own heroes they spent years copying. Heck, I've been copying Albert, Ray F. and Jerry Donahue for years. Still trying to get close! No shame in it at all. I bet you'd smoke "guitarman".
Congrats on not taking too seriously the people who feel it's their duty to give harsh criticism. The web let's people be who they really want to be (setting aside kindness, being polite, etc...). I missed the part when you said you were as good or better than any of these players.
As a fellow guitar player, nothing I hate more than the "cmon', be original" comments from big headed players.
Its good to hear crictis once in a while, so thanks for that! but you're wrong about one thing :) - my fiddle skills are actually better than my guitar (check out my alan jackson cover video for the matter)
oh - and it would be nice if you would posted something too. CHEERS and going to practise now
The biggest problem I have with your playing is that you are trying to copy the brent mason style. On youtube there are guitarists that copy the style much better. Doug Seven would be one. I myself have 15 years of road experience. Followed by getting a real job and playing 10 more years part time. I used to copy all the greats such as Ray Flack, albert Lee etc. It was a lot of effort just to be a copy. I prefer to develop my own style.
Apparently you have a hard time functioning in the real world. Not all criticism is easy to take. I wish I had time to sit here and upload clips of me playing but with my full time IT job and playing quite frequently at night and on weekends I find my talent is to in demand to spare the time. I don't need approval of the youtube community. I'm too busy making money.
come on guys - no need to argue. I really apreciate that you like my playing and kind of defending me, but in reallity this guy does have a point (not that I ever expected to be compared with such great as Doug Seven) , but yeah - compared to that level I'm still far below and that is sad , but true.
Its not that you are below SepaXP and forgive me if my criticism seemed a little harsh. It was meant to give a different perspective. The internet is full of guitarists attempting the flash/shred thing. No matter how fast they shred its almost always boring after about 2 minutes. You are obviously very talented but I wouldn't say that your greatest strength is guitar but that you play several instruments very well.
My opinion is that if you spent more time developing your own style you'd accomplish so much more. Put your self in a night of playing a gig. You can't play Brent Mason licks all night. What else do you do? I can shred the mason, jerry donahue etc thing and used to put alot of time in to it. Its good for about 1 to 2 songs a night.
Well i kind know what you mean. And its allright.i think you're criticism is right in some way and I accept it.Anyhow I'm too far from masters of guitar and even this one style.Wonder what would you say about my newest vid-its on violon only though.oh and btw-next vid will be country tune again-but this time my own one.But actually I dont only do that-I'm having some studio work from time to time and its in different styles from rockabilly to pop.Maybe there I dont resemble Mason that much:)
Its not that I disapprove of sepaXP's playing. And maybe I should not have criticised quite the way I did. I guess I'm just getting sick of all the Brent Mason clones. Beleive me there was a time when that was exactly me copying Ray Flacke, Albert Lee and Danny Gatton. What took me over 25 years to do was stop copying note for note and take the techniques to develop my own completely different style.
My other influences are David Gilmour, Rossington Collins and Brian May. Even in a country band setting these influences will show through.
As for posting some of my playing, I most likely will in the future. For music I've been busy changing alot of my pedals for some nic botique stuff and doing some mods. I post alot from work as well.
The stuff that really shows your opinion is valid is changing pedals for boutique stuff and doing mods while taking breaks to criticize those actually playing. It most certainly is not posting your own videos. I agree.
As I said I'm not totally dissing sepaXP. He's got some nice technique but all the effort in to becoming a tribute to Brent Mason is better spent developing his own unique style.
:) thanks , but well ... the kid who composed this tune at his 16 or 17 ... what about that class ? heh ... i still need to work ages on guitar before I surpass him :)

@landsburger - Totally agree and you are dead on.
It kind of goes back to a 'rule' I always remember...
You have to learn the rules FIRST before you can learn to break them.
So, people that talk about 'original' etc., etc., yawn... How does anyone become original? By playing a lot and mimic-ing what has come before.
It's not like Brent Mason picked up his first guitar and never imitated anyone.
Do like everyone else and just have fun, practice, improve, repeat...
Great job Sepa!
