It's caused by a metallurgical quirk in the gears. Those parts have moved around a bit and it causes no harm so it's been left alone.

This isn't an R1 sound, it's just a sound that is a lot easier to hear on an R68. You were somehow able to hear more easily. The sound of an R1 just seems like an R68 sound for some reason.

The car ahead of you is 5416! So the car you were on is probably #5415, #5417, #5418, or #5414! At 2:50 , you can see the car number ahead of you.
