  • This is what should have won the Oscar for animation. XD

  • it sounds so sexy when Emma Watson is telling it

  • Just read this chapter whilst sitting on the toilet.... thought I'd watch it again to understand! : )

  • There are connection points, but no direct matches. Who killed Voldemort to get his wand ? How did Snape commit suicide for Harry's mother ?

All these assumptions about the brothers being Voldemort, Snape and Potter is a pretty far fetched theory. And people take it onboard without thinking.

  • This animation is just amazing. Makes me love HP even more, like that's possible

  • I love the story... But what I don't understand, is why it is supposed to be

a fairytale. If you look how much violence and death there is in the story...

  • @slangenprins well if you consider that Red Riding Hood was originally a cannibal, Rapunzel got pregnant, and another favourite fairytale was about a woman who had to wear red hot shoes and dance til she died, and then there's the goose girl... no, this is pretty in line with most fairytales :(

  • @WeirdYetCool I also didn't mention suicide... I don't know any fairytale in

    wich a person kills itself...

  • @slangenprins Actually I believe there is, and it's quite understandable, as many fairy tales were prohibitive, and suicide was seen as a way to Hell. A man driven to death by haunting spirits is actually rather a common theme.

  • @slangenprins I don't know, a lot of fairy tales are pretty dark and violent.

  • This one clip made me read all the books. I will never forget watching this scene in theaters. I had goosebumps and chills and I instantly fell in love with the series.

  • I always loved this video clip. Great way to explain something so complicated and important to the series :) I just wish that this had been included earlier in the books/movies so that it felt more tied in, rather than out of nowhere. But great job, and interesting ideas/morals. Pure coolness.

  • How can anyone even compare Twilight to Harry Potter, Harry Potter is a masterpiece and Twilight compared to it is a pathetic attempt of a fantasy story

  • Another reason why Harry Potter is better then Twilight

  • @SpaceSkate000 RIGHT !!!!

  • This is both entertaining and creepy at the same time

  • JKR is AWESOME!

  • i love how she speaks.

  • I just played this while reading the tales of beedle the bard book from barnes an noble!.(: Brought me to tears as i remembered the series of harry books are over :/

  • dang, I was wordless in the movie theater, I was definetly expecting ANYTHING BUT this wonderfull animation, its so plain, all shadow figures drew with a quite Tim Burton-ish style (alas, my favorite style =P)

  • Who died for power - Voldemort

who died for love - Snape

who greeted to the Death as an old friend - Harry

  • such a nice voice this is y we british people r awesome at narrating!!!!!

  • This is such a great scene.

  • 2:48 does anyone know what happens to the little boy? he just kinda dissapears.

  • @MrEvilslashy oh nvm duh...

  • one other thing,... if the dude had a son but death never found him... well what i'm hinting at is that wouldn't it be kindof awkward doing a lady while she can't see you? ... "no that's not my dick this is"

  • @MrEvilslashy lol

  • wowowowhoa... if death handed over HIS OWN cloak of invisibility, aren't ppl gonna be just a liiitle suspicious of a creepy hunchback dude with a 3 foot long neck and 8 inch long fingers who's lost his flesh? maybe it's just me.

  • I adore Harry Potter, and I remember reading this in the book when I was younger. But seeing it come to life on the screen in such beautiful and eerie animation was positively mesmerizing. This will forever be one of my favorite scenes in the film series.

  • A brother who died for power, one who died for love and one who greeted death as an old friend.

Voldemort died for power, Snape died for love and when it was time, Harry greeted death as an old friend.

Tell me again that HP is not one of the best works of our time.

  • Coraline and Gretel & Hansel ( the game on Newgrounds)

  • When I watch this part, it reminds me of Coraline.

  • One question is remaining... if a person kill you while you are wearing the cloak of invisibility...will you die? Death can't see you, so he can't take you.

  • @kratorz1 u will die probably but death wont find u! if tht make sense cuz it dont to me lol!

  • @Xxpearl123Xx profits??

  • @kratorz1 wat?

  • You do not avoid death. Cheating him will only guarantee that you will die soon after.

  • love love love this scene beyond words.

  • does anyone know what program(s) this animation was created on?

  • I love how Harry could be the most powerful wizard in the world cause he had the resurrection stone, the elder wand and the cloak of invisibility. lucky boy. :D

  • @ shelbirox

Maybe death is the fallen angel

  • why did death grow wings at the end???? i never got that

  • @shelbirox1 I don't know if you got the fact that death can do whatever the hell it wants?

  • @shelbirox1 is Art... cinema is art... Art does not to be explained.

  • Voldemort died for power

    Snape died for love

Harry greeted death as a old friend

  • @ithrial1 And didn't die!

  • Oh wow i never saw that brilliant :)

  • You know what's awesome? If you actually have the book "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" and read it while watching this. I have, and it's awesome.

  • @chelseafcrocks82 haha wtf?

  • It reminds me of a Tim burton film

  • 0:02 she can't say twilight without wanting to vomit.

  • "A hooded fig-gah" lol

  • Beautiful

  • If the cloak of invisiblity was death's cloak that means death is a colorful man LOL. Just rember the color of the cloak it was purple and stuff with stars C:

  • BEST...SCENE...EVER!!

  • I always liked this one. However, I don't understand how the most powerful wand ended up in Dumbledor's hand, and how the invisibility cloak to Harry's father?

This draws the question, did Dumbledore killed one of the brothers to obtain the wand?

  • @IspanasOnTop Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald and took the wand and harry is the descendant of the younger brother

  • all you guys who only watch the movies and make fun of it u should really read the books they are alot better. U dont know anything about harry potter until you read the books

  • Emma Watson could read the dictionary and I'd still think it'd be epic

  • @catagon12345 It's the editing. No stops for breaths. If you think about it, it starts to sound weird and you feel like you need to take a deep breathe because she isn't breathing.

  • this is gorgeous, trully state of art

  • This was beautiful

  • we get to play as the three brothers in lego harry potter years 5-7

  • The 4rd brother was a straight up G

  • I would of kept all the deathly hallows. Harry was straight trippin.

  • Good narration, cool story, kinda, nice animation.

harry potter was a little faggot for not holding all the deathly hallows. lol

  • @jsbeard18 don't you fucking call harry potter a faggot

  • This is gonna be a level in LEGO Harry Potter Years 5-7.

  • Death is like General Grievous.

  • This is what brings part 1 from average to good.

  • i love this story a lot and emma s voice is so calming

  • i love this story,so cute

  • Emma Watson should just narrate everything from now on..

  • Voldemort died for power

    Snape died for love

and Harry greeted Death like an old friend

  • @bmt131 Dude... stop stealing the top comment.

  • this is my favorite scene of harry potter

  • Emma:At Twilight

Ron:My mum always says at mid-night

    Hermione makes a hungry face!

ROn:b-but your at Twilight is better...

    Lol That's a funny scene

  • I loved that they made this scene look like this and didn't just make it with actors and so on......it's pretty good......a little empty some times but if someone would've told me they'd do something like this before I wouldn't have expected it to be that good.

  • I love it when Hermoine starts to tell the story and says "twilight", and Ron shoots in; or midnight, mom allways said midnight. But twilight's fiiiiine..... thumbs up if you remember!

  • Google "Harry potter lookback cum teaser (not official) for final Deathly Hallows part2". Cant put a direct link. Hope you like it.

  • Final Destination in the Magical World too O.o

  • A HOODED FIGA

Nice to see that I'm not the only one who says figure weirdly

  • The art in this scene is spelllbinding!

  • @zhangvict1

True...it is a pity though that WB spent adequate time on this story but then failed miserably at adequately portraying Dumbeldore's past. Still a great movie though!

  • This is a piece of art...love how Death reminds of a vulture when it shown in profile, not to mention the hanged brother in Deaths hands. Whoever did this managed to capture the story to an eerie level...simply superb!

  • "“There were once three brothers who were travelling along a lonely, winding road at twilight."

"Midnight...My mum always said midnight. *Harry,Hermione&Mr.Lovegood stare at him* "But twilight is better....much better.

    Oh Ron!<3

  • This is my favorite scene in the whole series.

  • @LiteratureNow agreed! :DD

  • guys the cloak of invisibility is given to harry by dumbeldore the elders wand belongs to dumbledore the ressurection stone is given by dumbledore to harry by the golden ball harry ate in his first year. this means that before that dumbledore had possesion of all 3 items. so dumbledore was the lord of death???

  • @efthymiou93 Almost...but he didn't have them all at the same time. Didn't manage to unite them...

  • @efthymiou93 not exactly, harry got the cloak in his first year at hogwarts. dumbledore didnt get the ressurection stone till sometime later, probably around harrys year at hogwarts in half blood prince kus thats when dumbledores hand had become inffected after trying the ring on(which had the ressurection stone as a stone on top) so he probably just held the cloak and the elders wand together, but never all 3

  • @efthymiou93 good point.

  • I love this scene. So beautiful and scary at the same time

  • Death looks like General Grievous

  • Hello. How it's made thise animation? What kind of program?

  • This is my favourite scene in the movie.

  • Who did this animation? I love the style :P

  • @WeinieGenie Your wrong. The one who died for Love is Snape The one who died for power is Voldermort The one who greeted death like an old friend is Albus Dumbledore.

  • @WeinieGenie Wander if JK Rowling did that on purpose? Probably, she's brilliant like that.

  • i think it fits with the movie just fine. i love the way it's done. why are people who don't like harry potter watching videos about it? i never watch videos of things i don't like :P

  • probably the best scene of the movie and one of the best scenes of the whoel series!

  • Death looks like General Grevous.

  • @Tabbimura Ah mudblood scum *grievous voice* lol. you're right

  • i really really love this scene...it's so serene and beautiful and terrible at the same time.

  • Yes I know... But if he hates it that much then why is he watching these clips! Calm down, calm down.

  • WTF?! There's no place in Harry Potter movie for something like this.

  • @ofanzivnonestabilan why not???

  • Comment removed

  • @24pagedown just doesn't fit the style of the movie series

  • @ inFAMOUSCowZ... If you hate Harry potter so much, why are you here moaning about it! If you really hated it, then you wouldn't be searching YouTube for potter clips! We like it... So off you go!

  • @BluePlayer77 Everyone is entitle to their own opinion, you stupid fuck

  • @WeinieGenie You mean voldemort(elder wand), Snape(Resscurect stone) and Harry( inviseble cape)

  • This story actualy has a great moral to it, even if people dont like Harry Potter, they admit it.

  • @Eyohannes93 I truly don't like Harry Potter. I find the movies to be decent, but better then the books. Because J.k Rowling can't write to save her life. I just find her writing as an author is poor, and the way the story goes I don't like, and it relies on deus ex machina. But this was by far the best part of the series, and when I read it I was amazed at ho well it was told. And then in the movies it had beautiful animation. If the whole series was like this it'd be truly amazing.

  • @inFAMOUSCowZ, I'm sure your novels are much better...you shoudl let the rest of us read them so we can understand just how qualified you are to openly come off as such an arrogant, over-opinionated douchebag

  • @jmills147 Are you upset that I criticized something you like? Thats the way it is people have opinions. Harry Potter suffers the same way Twilight does, bad writing. You may enjoy something, but sometimes you can't ignore if something is written poorly.

  • @inFAMOUSCowZ im sure you made billions of dollars from your book did you have several movies?just asking since your soo good at giving your opinion.

  • @inFAMOUSCowZ I agree with you that sometimes people ignore this - but that is usually something you notice within the first few pages. Besides, they were originally written for children, so I think we can forgive J.K. if the vocab in the first couple of books is somewhat basic. As for you criticizing her writing - I would try checking your own comments before going on to slag off her's. :)

  • Did Emma Watson just say Twilight O_O

  • This is amazing.

This makes you think outside the box. Or is it only me? Maybe because it reminded me of a cube by the time the second brother hanged himself.

  • this is the most brilliant animation ever!!!

  • I love this kind of animation!! What is it called?

  • @MCGoldYoshi I have to disagree with you mate.... The animation as it is, makes the scene even better! It allows us to focus on the details and morals of the story rather than the characters.

  • This reminds me of Limbo.

  • I'm sorry but I think the graphics for this story could have been better (more realistic human figures)

    Also some children's story...suicide and murder :P

  • @MCGoldYoshi Most children's stories are pretty dark :)

  • @MCGoldYoshi I am with BluePlayer77 on this. This is perhaps one of the most fascinating scenes of the movie and one of the factors is the art. It is an incredibly expressive style that allows the imagination to work. It is dark indeed, but that is because it is trying to capture the aura of the Brothers Grimm (which were the original versions of those fairy tales) which were very dark. Combined also with Emma Watson's lovely delivery (somber but in an insightful way) and it left me hypnotized.

  • 2:39 HAHA fail @ death

  • I love the animation.

  • I just love Emma...

  • so gonna tell this story to my kids

  • This...the art is amazing

  • thunbs up if you read the book multiple times!

  • god this is actually a really good story

  • if i had to narate that i would have fucked it up

  • @xxcolourfulskiesxx no shes not shes british! shes not strong british! in Britain you could havve a deep british accent or one that sounds like hers

  • The animation for the tale is beautiful.

  • The animation for this scene is so cool! I really enjoyed this part of the movie.

  • the tale refers to the peverell brothers: Antioch, Cadmus and Ignotus.

  • I love this story

  • Emma's voice is so calming

  • Voldemort died for power

    Snape died for love

and Death still could not catch Harry!!!

  • @sweetdeepawali Your wrong. The one who died for Love is Snape The one who died for power is Voldermort The one who greeted death like an old friend is Albus Dumbledore.

  • @sweetdeepawali mind-blown. <3

  • @sweetdeepawali SPOILERS. Just kidding .

  • @sweetdeepawali Well, technically death did get Harry, but let him go for the time being

  • Such a cool scene

  • Best part of the movie IMO, simply brilliant. Retroactively reminds me of Limbo (360 arcade game).

  • @DonMooney312 wow i never thought about it that way

i read in an article that harry later becomes the head of the aurour department and ginny becomes a professional quidditch player

  • I thought that they would ruin this scene when i read the book, but they did it perfectly

  • I freakin LOVE this tale!!!

  • @DonMooney312.. Yea ur right my bad.. I got the things confused

  • The Emperor's New Groove

  • I thought this was a pretty awesome story. Never would've thought of it myself.

  • Well not exactly..dumbledore attained the elder wand when he defeated the evil wizard who stole it from the 1st brother, the resurrection stone was handed down in the Riddle family which is how it became a horocrux, the cloak was passed down to harry's father james who gave it to dumbledore to give to harry, the 3 brothers really arent meant to represent any certain characters because they were real people..

  • @AquasJuggernoid You're so wrong it's disgusting.

  • @AquasJuggernoid the stone wasnt a horcrux

  • @TheBlazinphotos the ring was

  • @NextGenTrophys yeah i know

  • The evil wizard he stole it from was Grindelwald, and Grindelwald stole it from Gregoritivitch, who was not one of the brothers, he just came about the wand.

The Resurrection Stone was passed down through the Riddle Family, but it was hidden inside a ring. That ring became a Horcrux, and the Stone was taken out of the ring (by Dumbledore) and placed inside the Snitch.

The three brothers aren't whats being represented, its the choices they make, the lessons learned, and their consequences.

  • @AquasJuggernoid actually the 1st brother bragged about the wand. He died. The other took the wand. Then grindewald got it. Dumbeldore defeated Grindewald and therefore won the wand.

The riddle family made the stone into a ring. Voldemort found it, changed it, and dumbeldore got the ring and then he removed the stone from it, putting it in the snitch.

Harry got the cloak because james fathers father was the last brother.

  • Cool history soo that means that harry is like the third brother

  • when she says departing this live as equals,it gives me chills, really JK Rowling is so genius

  • @mslovemrwood such a genius* :3
