I learned most of all on my own ... listening to my favourite players ... listening to a lot of music ... and most of all playing a lot ... But certain education will help you a lot ... specially when you first start playing. It would help you to learn certain basics, like chords and scales ... and some basic music ... but you could learn with a guitar teacher. Or books!
