My date cried when I took her to see this! I had to explain how ST III would resurrect him. Then I cried when she dumped me two months later! She later regretted dumping me for the guy she's divorced from now! There must be a thing with their even numbered movies. I was dumped by this girl after II, my first wife and I divorced after IV, but the third time was a charm. My wife and I saw VI the year it came out, which was the year we married, and we're still happy 20 years later!
Question. In this they are all wearing the same red costume, how ever in the tv show Kirk wears yellow, spock wears blue and most other people wear red, is there any reason why they ditched the primary coulors?
They changed the uniforms for this film b/c the actors hated the ones in the Motion Picture. The turtlenecks indicated the departments-gold for tactical and engineering, purple for security and communications, light blue or green for medical and science, and white for command. The red was a jacket or vest, and the standard uniform at the time.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) Star Trek: Generations (1994) Star Trek (2009)
Along with Star Trek VI, I don't think they will ever achieve the same depth of plot as they did here. Such a shame; they've almost killed the franchise. Are there no decent writers left to even challenge this story?
To date this is still my favorite Star Trek movie...Khan is just the best.. I remember seeing this and the original motion picture at the movies when I was a little blighter.. ahhhh the memories
by far, the best Star Trek movie. I was dissapointed by the search for spock because it wasn't quite as good although I did enjoy Doc Brown as a kling-on. Can't believe I went almost twenty years of my life without knowing Doc Brown was a kling-on in a Star Trek movie.
This is the best Star Trek ever, I adore this film!!
"I've done far worse than kill you. I've hurt you. And I wish to go on hurting you. I shall leave you as you left me. Marooned for eternity. Burried aliiive. Burried aliiive."
Oh my god, it's so creepy how he says that. Montalban had the best voice ever. RIP.
Personally I believe Jerry Goldsmith composed the best theme for Star Trek and James Horner and all the other composers (except for Alexander Courage who composed the original Star Trek theme so my respects to him) can go jump in the lake cuz their themes will never hold a candle to his IMO. But I will agree with everyone that this movie was better than the first one.
Score wise, Goldsmith makes a great sweeping epic-ish score. That was one of the good parts of the first one. But Horner, to his credit, can do the creepy theme, as seen with Khan's theme, plus he can do very energetic and fast pace scores to go with an action scene, as seen in the surprise attack of Khan and in the Aliens movie. Goldsmith's score though in the first movie was excellent. Haunting, sinister, energetic, mysterious, and beautiful.
Ricardo Montalban's actin gwas outstanding better than Shatner and Nimoy in this movie, no question about it! Khan was by far the best played villain in cinematic history!!
@baz2186 Ohhhh give it rest why don;t you?? TRY having an original comment.......you are such a loser and follow of what people say and do....I bet yer fav SW movie is Empire strikes back too??? I bet you say words like "EPIC" and "PAWD" like a fucking internet TOOOOOOOL Get it together be yourself
@tarasvoice Get bent keep your opinions to yourself, what have I done to you to illicit a response like that! Typical You Tube coward, you would not say that to my face but you have the balls to say it to me on a laptop hiding in your room! Go on try and shut me up!!
wonder what actor could play Khan Noonien Singh now; those, are some pretty big shoes to fill. Although, Trek fans are not as nitpicky and downright annoying as Star Wars fans; "the lightsabers don't sound right! I'm not playing that video game! wah, wah, wah!!!" Still though, few actors today have Montalban's charisma, intensity and for that matter skill. They are remaking the original series; the choice for the new Khan, will not be easy.
i coludn,t see most of the startrek movies trailers becuse i was born after but i had the trailers of startrek the undiscover country, generations and first contact
I found the 2 disc DVD for $7.99. I thought I would have to pay over $15.00,but it is a very reasonable price and well worth it. The best Star Trek movie there is
Hedwig dies pg56 Mad-Eye dies pg78 Scrimgeour dies pg159 Wormtail dies pg471 Dobby dies pg476 Voldemort kills Snape pg658 Snape was good, loved Lily - entire Chapter 33 Colin, Crabbe, Bellatrix, Fred, Tonks, Lupin, Ted Tonks, Scrimgeour all die Hagrid, Malfoy, Neville survive. Ron marries Hermione Harry marries Ginny Their children attend Hogwarts together The final two sentences are: "The scar had not pained Harry for eighteen years. All was well."
This trailer was included with the out-of-print VHS version of the TOS episode Space Seed, released in the early 1980s before TOS episodes were distributed en masse.
Yeah, I remember renting that tape as a child! It had the episode "The Changeling" on the tape as well. The tape came out around the time that Wrath of Khan was out in cinemas, and was probably put out to cash in on the movie's success.
This movie is better than every star wars prequel... maybe even episode VI

Although the new Star Trek is totally hot and JJ Abrams did an awesome job, there is just no topping this.
I was 16 when this came out and the buzz around it's release was like no other Trek movie released to date, especially among the Trek Nation.

I am afraid to see the new "trek", only b/c of this movie....and the sequels that followed.
