Sadly but truly, When I was at Dream Theater's concert At Orlando on October 23th.. I closed my eyes for few seconds in some songs, and guess what, they still are Dream Theater, Mangini made no difference (in a good sense), which is what matters. Mangini covered all DT's songs as well as Portnoy did, and even better. (Words from a devastated fan of M. Portnoy, But Greater fan of Dream Theater)

I have to say that I really don´t know if DT was better with Portnoy or not. BUT really I think that Mangini is better drummer (techincally 100-0 to any other). It is true that Portnoy was doing half of the job in Dream Theater, but Mangini, if anyone, definately has what it takes to replace him, so you can´t complain about the raplacement, as it had to be done.

So I say that they both are eartastic. But Mangini is the best one in the world.

I saw him with Vai, and I saw Dream Theater back in 2003 or so in Boston (Mangini's hometown) and Mike Portnoy invited him on stage to play dueling drum solos. He's a fantastic drummer. Honestly, he's a great choice for the band and anyone bitching about Mangini being inferior to Portnoy honestly has never listened to Mangini the guy's amazing.

Please guys some of DT Fans are fed up of bad critics some people makes on Mike Mangini . Let him do his proofs in DT. Jordan , John, John and James aren't stupid they mad a great choice !!! Also we're all sad of Mike Portnoy's departure but we must think of the future of the band. Mike Mangini is a great player he has a playing close to portnoy. After reading the article about Mike Mangini in DRUMHEAD, I really admire this guy. I understand why DT chose a fellow Northeasterner for the band (Marco Minneman is the greatest to me) but Mike M. deserves some recognition. Technically he is absolutely Perfect. He was a great teacher at Berklee, and his a brilliant human being. He actually was a rocket scientist because of his math skills. Now he is ROCK STAR! Kill it, Mike!
