Ah, yes, I forgot about the CL4. But, as you say, that was 2.11, not 2.0. As I've been trying to point out, 16-bit color wasn't supported in CE 2.0 - it was introduced in CE 2.11.
Also, USB host support was introduced with Windows CE 2.11. The NEC MobilePro 800 (and later the 880), Hewlett-Packard Jornada 820, Samsung IZZI Pro, Fujitsu PenCentra, Sharp Telios HC-7000/Intermec 6651 were examples of USB-enabled Handheld PC Professional (Windows CE 2.11) devices. (The Fujitsu and Sharp/Intermec H/PCs were subsequently re-released with the newer H/PC 2000 system.)
2) The desktops shown for Windows CE 3.0 and 4.0 were actually the Handheld PC Professional Edition desktop, which was based on Windows CE 2.11. (A lot of people got this confused because the platform's full name was Handheld PC Professional Edition, version 3.0. The 3.0 in this case referred to the third generation of the Handheld PC platform.) The CE 3.0 (Handheld PC 2000) desktop had the "Windows Powered" logo.
It's on tons of embedded devices, including the current generation of GPS devices, ATMs, several types of medical monitoring devices, and of course Pocket PCs and Smartphones.

Slight correction: the CL4 ran CE 2.12, a non-platform version of CE subsequent to the Handheld PC Professional platform based on CE 2.11.

Ms-Dos in windows ce? What? You've got to be bs-ing.
Pilotgeek 2 years ago
There are DOS emulators for Windows CE, and they will run many older DOS programs (for those nostalgic for the old DOS days).
535stimuli 2 years ago
Yeah, but they never attempted to include it in Windows CE, let alone base it off of DOS.
