Although Silent Hill graphics have never been superb and impressive like Bioshock games or Resident Evil 5... Konami have always excelled in the soundtrack and suspense/fear factor. I fucking love S.H. series... but can't deny, for the 1st time... I'm kinda worried with this one. Gameplay seems terrible, and the monsters sucks. It's a confused story, some stupid enemies (like the mannequins, that table/bed monster in the hotel, some bad bosses). Concerning children...well, its about Silent Hill (in S.H.2 there's that blondie cute little girl messing around in the city). It's a good game, but not the best for me. before = zero, after = zillions including resident evil 4 that restructured the whole idea of RE concept, Rule of a rose, Siren, Haunting Ground, even Fatal Frame (this one was kinda involved with SH1) even in 360 & PS3 including fear, fear2. those were extremely stimulates SH series but different ideas and stories + belongs to BIG companies, why not created b4 SH?

those were thrillers and not horror, if u can notice the whole change of the gaming system of the resident evil series (1,2, and 3) and the 4 a WAY change, all the comments a bout the RE4 were a bout "why did u change the way it goes" and the "please bring it back" complains. so as the AITD and the Clock Tower. they wer classified as the thriller, since the release of that clock tower 3, it defined a bit horrified. but still acted as thriller.

Don't forget the SPLATTERHOUSE franchise. About Downpour, I think they gathered so many things of previous Silent Hill. The way you open the door (from Shattered Memories), some fixed cameras (like S.H 1)...

Uhhhmmm wasn't the last Silent Hill part 5 for PS3 the one that was 2 short and not so scary? This was looks a bit better but the reality is it's probably going to disappoint. Ever played The Legacy: Realm of Terror on PC 1993 Microprose? That was a good horror rpg sure the graphics sucked but the overall story was Lovercraftian in nature and if those makers of the game had the tech that is out there today that game needs to be remade with some up to date adjustments but the idea is there.

While Resident Evil had great graphics, Silent Hill decided to prioritize the atmosphere, the horror, the scares, the characters emotions, feelings, a good story, creepy & disturbing enemies. So, a trailer with such beautiful soundtrack, suspense, creepy characters looks (like that old woman on the bus) you notice just the car? Also Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (the beautiful voice in Silent Hill 3 & 4 soundtracks)ain't gonna participate either. Daniel Litch is the composer invited to do the soundtrack, same one from Dexter tv series. But c'mon, just because of this you won't gonna buy the game? There's also rumors that this game is gonna be called SILENT HILL: DOWNPOUR... cause will be lots of water elements, like rain...maybe hydrophobia of the main character...and of course, some connection with the game main story. There's also rumor that the sequel to the good Silent Hill movie it is gonna come out, filmed in 3D, and its gonna be called REVELATIONS and highly inspired into Silent Hill 3 events.

This game worries me in relation to the PS3, for 1. the studio is new and 2. the main 2 producers are from 2K Czech. So just see Mafia 2 which they apparently optimised for all systems, BS!! No clothes physics? (see Batman's cape in AA) no pools of blood? (see most ports) If they optimised for each system PS3 would clearly have the advantage, see Killzone 2, Heavy Rain or Uncharted 3 or even Uncharted 1 god damn it! I feel sorry for the people who don't have choice of both platforms.

@lexzeyfercronus: Agree, for me Shattered Memories is just the worst Silent Hill ever. Disagree: Homecoming is awesome, brought a better combat system with dodge and some cool "fatalities" (like stabing a pipe through a dog eyes), story cool and creepy, great boss batlles... I enjoy most Silent Hill 1 and Homecoming. Thanks for the comments.

- They messed up with the disintergrating effect. It would of been much better to let him fall asleep or pass out, then wake up to an entirely different environment. Its not as fun when you see it change right there.

@FLYINHAWAIIAN37: I kinda think he's similar to James Sunderland (S.H. 2). If the transition from "the real world" to the "twisted/hell/darker world" mantains like in HOMECOMING, I'll enjoy, instead of only a cut scene.

The soundtrack is cool, but so sad the forever Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka is out. Till 2011, producers still have so much to do...all we can do is wait. Thanks for the comments. ANY NEWS - POST HERE!

@FLYINHAWAIIAN37: Yeah, like all others Silent Hill games (console system), guess only Silent Hill ARCADE came out 1st person. Producers wants to celebrate over a decade of pure game horror, so seems welcome new additions will come in this game. It also seems it will be a more open world, since there will be side quests and, depending of your actions, they will also change.

So by "open world", do you mean that it will be sort of free-roaming? Because one thing that wasnt right was like on Silent Hill 4: The Room, it seems like its only one path. It makes the game less challenging/fun when its a "start here and go here" type of concept. Past Silent Hill games just had it where you basically just walk on this one path to get where you are supposed to go.

@FLYINHAWAIIAN37: Can't tell you exactly. The only thing producers mentioned so far is that there will be side quests...and that they will change according to your decisions. But if they want to do a good game to celebrate more than a decade of horror, they really need to bring to us - gamers - an open Silent Hill world for us to explore...and even choose the way the story goes...just like GTA, you know?
