There seems to be a big differance in peoples idea of beginners. It depends on your opinion of what pole dance is to you. Some people put in alot of walking around the pole and floor movement, so its more of a dance with abit of pole in it. Others feel its more gymnastic and start out doing mostly spins on the pole as their beginners routine. I teach classes in which I would expect them to be able to do at least 6-7 spins/tricks within 6 weeks, and very little floor movement.
@vacksack This has got to be the best comment on a pole video I've ever read! A lot of walking in a routine bugs the hell out of me, but that's personal taste. I was taught to prep and then spin without building momentum, so walking just seems like cheating to me. I'll carry momentum from one spin to another, but I try to stay up on the pole as much as possible. I like how you are capable of looking at different sides of something that can get very contentious..

nice and controlled floor work..think many pole dancers are so busy showing us their latest tricks (not complaining mind!!), that they forget good fluid floorwork. this is great for beginners who dont do alot on the pole who want to express themselves and gain confidence around the pole until they learn how to do more intermediate moves. nice choice of song too - liked it!!
I LOVE floorwork. I do a ton of floorwork whenever I dance. I think a lot because when I first started in 2005 I was having some pain in my forearms, so I didn't have much endurance for the pole.
Thankfully now I am mended! Cause I love pole work as well.

"MY SEXY LIL POLE" and it ranged between $150-200 dollars.but passion parties are not the only ones who sell that specific pole .personally i think the lil minx pole are tha best quality.and u can choose what color u like best.
Watch out with Lil Mynx, though. A TON of girls on polejunkies have had the same issue: The stainless steel pole is slicker than ice. No amount of conditioning will change it. I had to sell mine because the surface wouldn't stick with my skin. The stainless is great for spins, but not for inverts. Platinum Stages or X-Pole are both cheaper and have better surface texture. Also, watch out for the Peekaboos and other "novelty" poles. They aren't meant for climbing and heavy pole work.

Are your hands slippery? If so you won't be able to pick up your foot of the floor to spin. Next, make sure your strong arm is on top and stays straight for biginner spins. You don't need much upper body strength. If you bend your arm you will pull into the pole and kill the momentum. Good luck!!!

This song was engineered for me in a tempo I really like.
Stephen Sherrard is his name. He made a music cd called Strip To It. This song isn't on there, but will be on his next one.
