I just saw Daniel Johnston play in Malmö, Sweden a few hours ago and you'll all be happy to know he played the guitar for the first two songs, then he came back with a guitar-duo who played for the rest of the set. So at the very least he's able to play a little bit :)

its funny I discovered Daniel Johnston about 5 years ago and there was not even ONE video on youtube about him, had to get the music from some music nerds. Liked him so much that I made a T Shirt of him, the "Hi How are you" Shirt, and not even ONE person knew him when I wore it. Now, luckily, there are some more videos about this extraordinary artist. I don't know why that made it worse, but it did.

Maybe because it put an image in my head of how he looked just a couple decades ago, and showed me how he looked recently.

I remember a line from the documentary about him...his parents saying they wish he could center himself, but that they were running out of time and were worried.

Buy the cd "Early recordings, Voume 1" there's the tapes "Songs Of Pain" and "More Songs Of Pain" in it. The song "Grievances" is in "Songs Of Pain", which is by the way the first Daniel Johnston tape.

I've heard of people shaking a bit from lithium, but I've never heard of a seizure. I'm not saying it's not possible, but I've just never heard of it. Sounds interesting though. I didn't come across that when I did a bit of research about this guy.

Yeah it is possible to have a seizure from lithium toxicity. Just from memory, I think I saw Dan's dosage at about 1400 mg which is incredibly high.
