It must have been somewhat entertaining to watch City Center get torn down, for those who work nearby. The office building where I work is located in the Arena District, though, so I didn't get to see any of the demolition (but I wish I could have!).
What a waste. Rochester New York's historic 60's style Midtown plaza is currently being demolished as well. And here in Halifax Nova Scotia our city center mall has lost three stores within a month. People dont seem to want to shop downtown anymore safe or not... they seem to prefer soulless lifestyle centers or bland modern mega malls over the city center malls which retain alot of their character.
This used to be a fun place to shop in the 1990's, however, being downtown a bunch of gangs started showing up and then there was a stabbing or shooting and with Tuttle Mall, Easton and Polaris taking over it just didn't stand a chance...it is pretty sad because I have fond memories of shopping here with my friends, eating at Sbarro's pizza, etc. Now I just have to drive further to get to any malls

@pdennis93 It's time for Evergreen Park IL to get rid of and torn down the Plaza.

I used to work for the Symphony. I got lunch there everyday. After the music stores left, they pretty much went downhill.
