hay to the comment i just left im sorry for calling it fake. that was wrong of me because i didnt have sufficient info to prove my theory. i looked at some other videos and i believe its real. so once again sorry
I never said I didn't try it. Note that there are five toothpicks and not ten. Break each toothpick in half, leaving a small strip of wood connecting them. Position them, and try again.
not really . its the water spreading out and its just draging the tips theres no absorbing or expanding its just the flow of the water just look at it man its happens to quick for what ur suggesting
That is fucking amazing. Who comes up with this stuff? Remember - when you break the toothpicks in half, make sure they're still attatched as it will not work otherwise. As I found out on several soggy attempts...
not fake just break toothpicks in half but make sure there still connected, just broken, then place them in v shapes like in the begginging then put a drop of water to make the wood expand and turn into a star
Its really simple. When you put water on wood, it absorbs it an expands. Each toothpick has to be snapped in the middle, but not separate, the two parts must still be joined. Then the drop of water on each end part expands the join between the two parts forcing them apart. When all 5 toothpicks are forced apart like that at the same time they push against each other.
Anyone trying to catch this out as a fake is thinking about it too hard
That's funny. This is a well known bar bet that DOES work. And you guys are looking right at it and can't figure it out. How many toothpicks do you think there are?

If you had brains you'd know that the tooth picks absorb the water which makes them expand and move
