I love Ann Sothern! Always seemed gracious - not a bitchy bone in her body. Hope that's true! Loved her on TV also as a secretary or something-or-other. I remember she was so funny in that show. Some said it - she was under-used by the system. I never realized she could sing, though!
Its funny that when I was growing up watching Robert Young on Marcus Welby MD I never realized how gorgeous he was! A truly, truly beautiful man. Not to say Ann Southern wasn't. She was beautiful and charming up to the very end.
A very bright lady who survived the studio system, which never showcased her as it should have, but went on to be a producer and star on T.V., where she made a lot of money. Very popular in Hollywood.

do you have her singing The Last Time I Saw Paris. I think that's her best moment on screen.

This isn't a Gershwin tune.
It's by Roger Edens and Arthur Freed
TCM website music for "Lady Be Good (1941):"
- "The Last Time I Saw Paris," music by Jerome Kern, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II
- "You'll Never Know (If an Apple Is Ripe)" and "Your Words and My Music," music by Roger Edens, lyrics by Arthur Freed
- Fascinating Rhythm" and "Lady Be Good," music by George Gershwin, lyrics by Ira Gershwin.

Ann has a lovely voice. In this video, she has a striking resemblance of Evelyn Keyes. Maybe is the hairdo?? thanks for posting.
