Its not always the persons personal decisions that have put them in these situations. an individual has no choice over the economic status of their country or city. Nor is it so easy to get back up once you are there. Many in this country simply will not hire the homeless, nor show a willingness to allow them that opportunity to regain their footing.

If someone wants to truly pick themselves up and get their life in order, in the United States, it's probably the easiest place in the world to do it. They have an abundance of services they can use for shelter, food, job searching and whatever else they need.

I am just a kid I plan to be a sucsess lawyer when I grow up but I also plan on donating a huge amount of money I make to homless men women and children I will go up to them and give them money I will bring in apple and give it to them I will give them water if they need it and when they need help I will be their everyone deserves a roof other their head and food and water clothes an education and a place to sleep.
A friend used to do this great trick on the homeless. He would give them cans of beer with a knockout sedative in & after waiting for it to kick in, he went round bundling them into the back of his van and drove several of them miles out of town, dumping them in open countryside.
It would take them days to wander back, and I think several of them expired before reaching civilisation. He would laugh, claiming it was ‘public service’ work & that the Police knew and were fine about it.
I was homeless at one time, my luck changed due to my own hard work and the help of wonderful ppl...today I have a education and a good job and I go out of my way to help the less fortunate because...I KNOW THE FEELING....too bad ppl have to put them down, must be to make themselves feel better....but in the end the circle comes back around
i was homeless at one time and its not a good place to be.. it takes about two weeks to go insane....with thought you never could dream up...without food and clean clothes and shelter it doesnt take long to go downhill even further then you can imagine....

I was homeless, and I was fortunate to have two jobs, no place to live. A lot of the people who I had met just had hard times. Some had mental problems, especially Napoleon. Though he was old, a little crazy, he was so kind. He would leave me apples on my car. He didn't talk to people because he was scared of people because he was treated so badly. Not everyone on the streets wants to take advantage of you.
@lester5192 It was people with a kind heart that helped me. Helped me, gain skills, feed me when I had no food. I learned so much from that trial in my life. I went from having everything to having nothing. I am much more appreciative what I have and even what I don't have. What I tell people is to pay it forward. If you can't pay me for the meal, pay it forward in a kind deed to someone else. Charity isn't a bad thing unless you make it a bad thing.
@MsFreedom2fly if your story is true, then it is far from a common scenario of homeless people trying to get back. people don't lose pride when they go down. however you are a woman and woman are used to being taken care of in general social standards by men or their parents even if there are a few exceptions to that rule. i would guess most homeless women care about getting off the street than men because men are more rough by nature too.

i have allmost reached homeless status. i live in a tent. i lost my job over a year ago. lost my truck. i was living on $700 or less a month due to child support. now with no truck, no phone, and my only transportation is a bike. nobody wants to hire me. i bath in a pond and im clean for an interview but nobody will hire me. so watch what you say about the homeless. one day we will come together. i am a hard worker with as many as 78 hours a week when i had work. everybody needs help sometimes.

I work in a homeless shelter here in Barre vt... we need to help more, all the people that r homeless. some think homeless people are lazy and waiting on a hand out... it is so untrue. we need more money. Noone should be homeless in This country of our's.
Some of the homeless individuals I've intereviewed out of curiosity have been vets that our country failed to protect after they served us for our freedoms. Sad and ticks me off to no end. The are UNABLE to hold jobs due to the mental sufferings that have been bestowed upon them by serving our country. Unproductive, yes...their fault..HELL NO. A lot of homelessness is due to substance abuse from individuals needing mental help they turn to drugs to cope. All else shuts down. Have empathy.
@lovefunpeace-appears that way to u 'cuz u don't know their history. $5 isn't enough for shelter or food, so they buy cigs, beer, whatever for that brief high that takes their mind off their suffering for only a moment. Maybe they shd spend their money differently but for many of them it wdn't make a difference--they'd still remain homeless. So,having given up on hope 4 a better life, they spend their money on whatever helps them endure the experience-living 4 the moment 'cuz future looks bleak.
Deading the pain of life when your in that situation is often your only hope at survival. Its not the just the down of loosing everything (including often freinds and family) but the depression is unreal. We all know the feeling of disgust and guilt you feel from failing and the constant harrasing, bashing and be treated lower then the lowest form of life is thier up side. In their life they often never feel better than this feeling and thats often when intoxicated.
This is the way the politicians want all of us to live, but we should all ban together and help one another, that is the only way to stop this. I'll offer a prayer for all those in this video and for those others that are not shown as they number in the hundreds of thousands.

When I was homeless, as a child, they took me in. When I was hungry, as a child, they fed me. When I needed shoes, they gave them to me. When I needed medicine they bought it for me. I was their daughter. Not my parents, but every family that cared for me, fed me, sheltered me, cried for me, prayed over me, and treated me as their own. Thank you. It seems I have a lot to pay back.
If I can be cared for as an abandoned child, surely they can too.

Its not always the persons personal decisions that have put them in these situations. an individual has no choice over the economic status of their country or city. Nor is it so easy to get back up once you are there. Many in this country simply will not hire the homeless, nor show a willingness to allow them that opportunity to regain their footing.

They've little control over the situation. If someone does choose to do that to themselves, and don't want to accept help, than I understand where you are coming from; but to generalise as you are doing, it's just not right.

If someone wants to truly pick themselves up and get their life in order, in the United States, it's probably the easiest place in the world to do it. They have an abundance of services they can use for shelter, food, job searching and whatever else they need.

A friend used to do this great trick on the homeless. He would give them cans of beer with a knockout sedative in & after waiting for it to kick in, he went round bundling them into the back of his van and drove several of them miles out of town, dumping them in open countryside.
It would take them days to wander back, and I think several of them expired before reaching civilisation. He would laugh, claiming it was ‘public service’ work & that the Police knew and were fine about it.

I was homeless at one time, my luck changed due to my own hard work and the help of wonderful ppl...today I have a education and a good job and I go out of my way to help the less fortunate because...I KNOW THE FEELING....too bad ppl have to put them down, must be to make themselves feel better....but in the end the circle comes back around

I was homeless, and I was fortunate to have two jobs, no place to live. A lot of the people who I had met just had hard times. Some had mental problems, especially Napoleon. Though he was old, a little crazy, he was so kind. He would leave me apples on my car. He didn't talk to people because he was scared of people because he was treated so badly. Not everyone on the streets wants to take advantage of you.

@lester5192 It was people with a kind heart that helped me. Helped me, gain skills, feed me when I had no food. I learned so much from that trial in my life. I went from having everything to having nothing. I am much more appreciative what I have and even what I don't have. What I tell people is to pay it forward. If you can't pay me for the meal, pay it forward in a kind deed to someone else. Charity isn't a bad thing unless you make it a bad thing.

@MsFreedom2fly if your story is true, then it is far from a common scenario of homeless people trying to get back. people don't lose pride when they go down. however you are a woman and woman are used to being taken care of in general social standards by men or their parents even if there are a few exceptions to that rule. i would guess most homeless women care about getting off the street than men because men are more rough by nature too.

i have allmost reached homeless status. i live in a tent. i lost my job over a year ago. lost my truck. i was living on $700 or less a month due to child support. now with no truck, no phone, and my only transportation is a bike. nobody wants to hire me. i bath in a pond and im clean for an interview but nobody will hire me. so watch what you say about the homeless. one day we will come together. i am a hard worker with as many as 78 hours a week when i had work. everybody needs help sometimes.

I have a job, and every day in my lunch hour, i go down the street to find ways to get out of financial ruin, EVEN with a job. One of the few places homeless can go w/o being run out is a PUBLIC LIBRARY where they can use a computer to look for jobs, etc. Duh!

There are public computers; friends will let a person use theirs; there are cell phones with internet; some people have jobs. How can YOU afford a computer? I work in a homeless shelter here in Barre vt... we need to help more, all the people that r homeless. some think homeless people are lazy and waiting on a hand out... it is so untrue. we need more money. Noone should be homeless in This country of our's.

Some of the homeless individuals I've intereviewed out of curiosity have been vets that our country failed to protect after they served us for our freedoms. Sad and ticks me off to no end. The are UNABLE to hold jobs due to the mental sufferings that have been bestowed upon them by serving our country. Unproductive, yes...their fault..HELL NO. A lot of homelessness is due to substance abuse from individuals needing mental help they turn to drugs to cope. All else shuts down. Have empathy.

@lovefunpeace-appears that way to u 'cuz u don't know their history. $5 isn't enough for shelter or food, so they buy cigs, beer, whatever for that brief high that takes their mind off their suffering for only a moment. Maybe they shd spend their money differently but for many of them it wdn't make a difference--they'd still remain homeless. So,having given up on hope 4 a better life, they spend their money on whatever helps them endure the experience-living 4 the moment 'cuz future looks bleak.

Deading the pain of life when your in that situation is often your only hope at survival. Its not the just the down of loosing everything (including often freinds and family) but the depression is unreal. We all know the feeling of disgust and guilt you feel from failing and the constant harrasing, bashing and be treated lower then the lowest form of life is thier up side. In their life they often never feel better than this feeling and thats often when intoxicated.
