Ted Bundy would still be alive if he had lived in the uk think yourselfs lucky that your country get rid of crap unlike ours take Ian Huntley CHILD KILLER plays on xbox he was also on Facebook till they kicked him off + he costs us £400,000 per year.
State sanctiond execution = the legal definition of 'an eye for an eye'! It is rarely,if ever, about punishment, more it is about revenge, simple as that! Society simply doesn't yet know how to deal with it's criminal element properly and successfully so we kill them where possible.
I work for the Texas Dept of Criminal Justice, and these people that are executed are all guilty, and they are all animals. We need to expand its use to include rapists, child molesters and other people who harm the weak and innocent!
@Prometheus606 Agree with you 100% – everyone who lives in the state of Texas is aware of the death penalty so they bring it on themselves. I live in Canada and we used to have the death penalty a while ago, and its been proven that since they abolished it the murder rate went WAY up. The death penalty works as JUSTICE and a DETERRENCE (the most important part). The only thing missing is capital punishment for pedophiles!
All of you writing about canceling the death penalty - it's sure easy to seek give forgiveness when you are not a relative of victim. But if a butcherly person would do something really really terrible to someone you love then I believe your judgement would not be absent of vengeance.

What about the victims ? Its funny that so many liberals think its okay to destroy a innocent unborn human life in the most disgusting way but to give amnesty to a murderer. VERY BACKWARDS
Although I am pro-death penalty I believe that death should be the only price the convicted inmate. No condemned man should have to suffer the pain they made their victims feel. As a society, we know that lethal injection is not a full-proof way to execute someone without delivering pain. My vote is for execution by nitrogen asphyxiation. Look it up! No pain. Even a feeling of euphoria before they go unconscious and, 3 minutes later, die.
I have read many books on this subject and In a couple of them the condemned didn't like or trust Rev Pickett. At one time he supposedly stated that an inmate confessed when that wasn't the case. Read the book about the hostage situation at The Walls as this will give you better insight. I can't say this man was bad but he did seem to seek out the lime light?.
That takes such a special person to care for these people at their lowest points in their lives. I strongly commend those who are take care of these inmates. Wow..
I am against the death penalty because of the imperfections in our justice system, not on principal. And to anyone making comments that the US having the death penalty reflects dark and negative things about our society, I have 3 words. Go to Hell. Get off of your high horses. Believe me, there are just as many (if not more) people in Europe and around the world who believe in the death penalty. The only reason they don't have it is because their nations' current political system is against it.
@Madams1977 It is not a violation of human rights. The human rights violation occurs when someone is brutally murdered by another individual, not when the state puts to death the person responsible. However, with the current situation in the WORLD where corruption exists in all levels of government EVERYWHERE, we as a society are not to the point where we can apply the death penalty in a fair and just manner.
I'm from Sweden, and here we abolished the deathpenalty in the early 20th century. A great mistake! Today criminals have a greater standing in society than other groups - apart from muslims. The political correctness in this country sheds more victims than any form of holocaust - yet no one is held accountable. Was it my call to make, I would bring back the deathpenalty tomorrow and see that the psychopats that kill just because they can, be put to death as a matter of defence.
I will vote for a candidate who bring back the death penalty to the judgement system. Especially the electric chair is more efficient choice. Eye for an eye!
What right does the state have to take anyones life..It is a violation of your right to life same a killing babies in the womb. That womans womb may be hers but the baby growing in it is not, it is a seperate human being
I literally cannot stand the arrogance of people like you who pass merely value-judgements off as if they are matters of unassailable fact in such a precarious manner that would make even the sceptic roll back in acrimony.
The death penalty is here to stay and the State of Texas is one of the few strongholds of justice in this weakening culture of America.
There are two evils in this world, the nation of Israel and the dissolution of justice.
anyway, it's not up to obama. it's a state-by-state issue. in fact, unless it's a federal case, the US federal government doesnt have any say over death or murder

@megatherium80 I am against the death penalty too, because to many innocent people died because of this. But on the other hand. Why do people fight for killers? It is inhumane to kill innocent people for no reason!

I agree! For the same reason I think that USA should abolish death penalty, but it's clear that there's some kind of love affair with it...death penalty's use often reflects a violent society with a lot of problems within, i think it's terrible to see humans requesting death for others
@pieddu Half of the states have already abolished the death penalty. Our state has the death penalty still but, we have not used it in 8 years, they will probably get rid of the death penalty, its too costly and there have been so many mistakes made in high execution states such as Texas and Florida that its not worth the risk either.
@GunsOfThePhoenix I hope that you'll get rid of it. Here in Italy we have our dark past, we used to kill people in ways so terrifying that sometimes I wonder if death p. was all about torturing to death both the body and the mind. If we let our personal feelings to overcome justice, it's the end of it.Justice should inspire people and make them see what they cannot see, 'cause they're blinded by personal feelings. If justice tells you "an eye for an eye", you put an end to society's development.
@GunsOfThePhoenix Not exactly half. More like a quarter with 16 states that don't have it. I agree with abolishing it in every state. I live in Colorado, and we hardly use it. I think we should have gotten rid of it a couple of years ago when we had the chance, but we have legislators who are idiots. What can I say. We would have taken that money saved from not using the death penalty to a better cause in trying to solve cold murder cases.
@KCTKOC I won't do that. If you're comfortable with the death penalty, I don't see why you're replying to my comment since, again, I don't see how your personal beliefs could be endangered by my answer. I will always post comments to express my deepest revulsion towards death penalty and ignorance.
If death penalty is a murder committed by the government..then jail time is kidnapping done by the government...what a bunch of idiots you guys are...those who are against death penalty..let me ask you something....some of you guys say, they might kill an innocent person..that is why we should ban capital punishment..let me ask you you then...dogs kill innocent people...should we ban dogs? end of the debate..you have no answer for that...
An astute observation, many things society regards as entirely normal can go wrong with fatal consequences. Cars kill tens of thousands of people every year when they are mishandlded, planes kill thousands, does anyone propose outlawing them?
Oh my god...truly a genius...The point of the discussion is that when something is sentenced to serve a temporary sentence like 3 or 40 years, this is a punishment that should have a purpose that is understanding the crime. By doing this you as a society are judging somebody without commiting the same crime, so if somebody does robbery, you're not going to do robbery in his house; for this reason capital punish. is wrong, since you're judging the crime by committing the same crime, that's it.
There is a huge moral distinction between "kill" and "murder." Capital Punishment abolitionists claim NOT to know the difference between those two. Cops kill robbers. Cops do not murder robbers. Should we then charge cops with murder? No one would dare to claim such stupid idea. No one. Not even you. How do you teach that kidnapping is wrong? Jail time is kidnap done by the state. They go with guns and take you away and put you in a cell. That is kidnapping. If it is not, then tell me what is.
cjla -- you seem to forget that the difference btwn "kill" and "murder", or rather "justified kill" and "unjustified kill", is very subjective. If someone believes capital punishment is unjustified, it's perfectly correct for them to call it murder.
And your example of a cop shooting a robber is not an apt metaphor. Cops kill robbers only when they (or others) are in eminent danger. They are not punishing an apprehended criminal... if they did, many would consider that "murder."
Wait, wait, wait. So you are telling me that kill and murder are now subjective? Subjective means that it only happens in your mind rather than the external world. What the hell are you talking about? You like using the word subjective, dont you?
As evidence from this video's comments, some people think capital punishment is justified, others do not. It is a debatable issue. People hold different views on the matter.
Therefore, whether capital punishment can be called "murder" or "kill" depends upon your personal perspective (i.e., your subjectivity).
Not True in TEXAS police are train to fire only if fired upon or there life is in immediate danger. Citizens who Cary concealed firearms can legally fatally wound anyone in the act of a felony, including but not limited to the vandalism of ones own property or property of there neighbor. Also Good folks in TEXAS can own as many firearms as they please including the infamous 105mm Howitzer Canons!!! :)
do i understand you right... are you saying we should release death penalty inmates?
killed by accident? if that were true they wouldn't be on death row.
they just sentenced a female to death for cutting a fetus from a pregnant woman. you want to give her a second chance? what about the dead pregnant girl. does she get a second chance?
somehow i don't think your limp condemnation of their crimes would do much to deter them either.
how can somone kill someone then sleep at night. Then to top it off find out he killed somone who did not even do the crime. When God comes I feel sorry for some people. God said I shal not kill but men still kills why
aha.. JamaicanBalla. Do you believe in God? If so then your an idiot.. Because god himself ordered the execution of an entire village.. If you dont believe in God, then your still and idiot because your logic is irrational. Your stating that if we do side with capital punishment then we have a bad heart? Go figure..
No they don't, but in my view executing a murderer is not a wrong. Its the most just punishment I can think of, and all I can say to anti-death penalty advocates is that maybe if they lose a relative to a violent death they will think differently.
I just don't see the point to execute someone to show that killing is wrong. I am not trying to excuse their offenses, they deserve to be punished for their acts, however, a life in prison is punishment enough. Most civilized countries worldwide have abolished the death penalty already, and I know some States in the US do not endorse such a way of punishment.
You are placing a value judgement by saying "civilized". I think that not killing a man who was willfully killed is in itself uncivilised.
I wouldn't mind no death penalty SO MUCH if they spent every last day of their lives behind bars, no visits, no release (even for funerals etc), 2 small meals a day and 24 hours a day in their cells.
Hopefully a few would kill themselves under such circumstances.
What an idiot! What an idiot! We should treat them like human beings when they did not treat others like that? I wish..someone would treat you like that, rape you, torture you, make you cry, spit on your face, and then slowly kill you..and say to them...treat him right..like a human being..you have a foggy view of morality...
Hey, waz up? The comment I left was for those who were against the death penalty, you got it man. Cars kill thousands of them, should we then ban cars>? That is how you can end that argument. If they say to you, they might kill an innocent person, you may say, we should definitely ban cars because they kill 1000's of innocent people....
Hey jurBIGpieceofdogshit why don't you just kill yourself? maybe they'll give you the Nobel prize for that great contribution to humanity!! You shitforbrains!

An astute observation, many things society regards as entirely normal can go wrong with fatal consequences. Cars kill tens of thousands of people every year when they are mishandlded, planes kill thousands, does anyone propose outlawing them?
theporksicle 3 years ago

If it is not, then tell me what is.
cjla1987 2 years ago
cjla -- you seem to forget that the difference btwn "kill" and "murder", or rather "justified kill" and "unjustified kill", is very subjective. If someone believes capital punishment is unjustified, it's perfectly correct for them to call it murder.
And your example of a cop shooting a robber is not an apt metaphor. Cops kill robbers only when they (or others) are in eminent danger. They are not punishing an apprehended criminal... if they did, many would consider that "murder."
walkingf00l 2 years ago
Wait, wait, wait. So you are telling me that kill and murder are now subjective? Subjective means that it only happens in your mind rather than the external world. What the hell are you talking about? You like using the word subjective, dont you?
cjla1987 2 years ago
No, that is not what i'm telling you. Thanks for asking.
walkingf00l 2 years ago
kill=justified homicide, murder=unjustified homicide
As evidence from this video's comments, some people think capital punishment is justified, others do not. It is a debatable issue. People hold different views on the matter.
Therefore, whether capital punishment can be called "murder" or "kill" depends upon your personal perspective (i.e., your subjectivity).
walkingf00l 2 years ago
Hey, I agree with you. But we haven't made any progress? How do we get rid of this "subjective" precept?

In Texas, police are permitted to kill people who are fleeing.
VintageTelevision 2 years ago
Not True in TEXAS police are train to fire only if fired upon or there life is in immediate danger. Citizens who Cary concealed firearms can legally fatally wound anyone in the act of a felony, including but not limited to the vandalism of ones own property or property of there neighbor. Also Good folks in TEXAS can own as many firearms as they please including the infamous 105mm Howitzer Canons!!! :)

do i understand you right... are you saying we should release death penalty inmates?
killed by accident? if that were true they wouldn't be on death row.
they just sentenced a female to death for cutting a fetus from a pregnant woman. you want to give her a second chance? what about the dead pregnant girl. does she get a second chance?
somehow i don't think your limp condemnation of their crimes would do much to deter them either.
we always get this shit from europeans.

how can somone kill someone then sleep at night. Then to top it off find out he killed somone who did not even do the crime. When God comes I feel sorry for some people. God said I shal not kill but men still kills why

JamaicanBalla23 3 years ago
aha.. JamaicanBalla. Do you believe in God? If so then your an idiot.. Because god himself ordered the execution of an entire village.. If you dont believe in God, then your still and idiot because your logic is irrational. Your stating that if we do side with capital punishment then we have a bad heart? Go figure..

They need to be treated like human beings? Even though most of them didn't treat their victims like human beings?

Two wrongs don't make anything right.
sweetboy81 3 years ago
No they don't, but in my view executing a murderer is not a wrong. Its the most just punishment I can think of, and all I can say to anti-death penalty advocates is that maybe if they lose a relative to a violent death they will think differently.
theporksicle 3 years ago
I just don't see the point to execute someone to show that killing is wrong. I am not trying to excuse their offenses, they deserve to be punished for their acts, however, a life in prison is punishment enough. Most civilized countries worldwide have abolished the death penalty already, and I know some States in the US do not endorse such a way of punishment.
sweetboy81 3 years ago
You are placing a value judgement by saying "civilized". I think that not killing a man who was willfully killed is in itself uncivilised.
I wouldn't mind no death penalty SO MUCH if they spent every last day of their lives behind bars, no visits, no release (even for funerals etc), 2 small meals a day and 24 hours a day in their cells.
Hopefully a few would kill themselves under such circumstances.
theporksicle 3 years ago
What an idiot! What an idiot! We should treat them like human beings when they did not treat others like that? I wish..someone would treat you like that, rape you, torture you, make you cry, spit on your face, and then slowly kill you..and say to them...treat him right..like a human being..you have a foggy view of morality...
cjla1987 3 years ago
What the fuck is wrong with you you cunt? I'm pro-death penalty!
theporksicle 3 years ago
Hey, waz up? The comment I left was for those who were against the death penalty, you got it man. Cars kill thousands of them, should we then ban cars>? That is how you can end that argument. If they say to you, they might kill an innocent person, you may say, we should definitely ban cars because they kill 1000's of innocent people....
