Finland has PKM in use in the army. But our camo design(s) is different. At least it was when I was in service..
Not a copy of waffen ss camo of any sort. It's a finnish made digital camo (waffen ss doubtly made digi camos based on studies of finnish forests) called the m05 in our army, the russian "jagel" camo looks pretty much identical to this but it came later and it's pretty much a copy of our camo (and why not copy works well in the northern forests).
Also the pkm is used and machine gunners seem to prefer it to the finnish kvkk which is a pain in the ass.. because it jams a lot.

@TheCrazyFinn my uncle had was squad sargeant back in 92 on the shusha front in the NKR war, and he said that those PKM's once released on full auto caused the fucking terror between the enemy troops, he had 2 PKM in his squad, he told me that oncne these go full auto on a target belive me, you dont want to stay on the same place, even if you give the smallest target, its a fucking rain of 7.62 bullets.

One could say that there was a assault rifle before the Stg44, the "Fedorov Assault Rifle". It was used a few times in WW1, but soon forgotten because of the inefficiency of the first models.
Because Russia gave weapons to everyone who said they were commies. russia actually lost money on arms deals in the soviet era. then when the soviet empire fell, ex-warsaw pact countries sold their russian stuff. Arms dealers had a hay day. They flooded africa with Aks.
It's a decent weapon, low maintenance, good enough accuracy.
Russian quality control was terrible. The ak isn't anything special anymore. Though, if i was a guerrilla i would take an AK.
OMG kalashnikov did not 'create' any new weapon systems. the rotary bolt with a gas piston system was founded years before WWII, in fact John Browning is true designer of any types of mechanisms even used today. (being him to have designed that mechanism) Kalashnikov was more of a weapons designer than an inventor, since his weapons all use the same mechanisms as earlier rifles.
Wemww, you might want to think about this. General Purpose Machineguns(GPMG) fire full rifle rounds (7.62x54r and .308 mainly), and they have a long, heavy barrel. They're accurate little toys. Machineguns are not supposed to be used like they are in movies, you won't hit a thing like that.

well when i was doing my service and used that gun, they telled me to fire about 3-6 shots set ..

Wemww, you might want to think about this. General Purpose Machineguns(GPMG) fire full rifle rounds (7.62x54r and .308 mainly), and they have a long, heavy barrel. They're accurate little toys. Machineguns are not supposed to be used like they are in movies, you won't hit a thing like that.
