  • seen crowded house with ma maw in 2009 they were fuckin amazing there's nothin like music to bring two generations together. That or Rocky films lol

  • Wonderful. Neil is one of the very best song writers on the planet. Period. I suppose the Metallica crowd thinks that THEY write songs? Melody will always win in the end.

  • i have listened to this song 1000`s of times over the years, and it brings me out in goosebumps, and to tears, wonderful song, pure PURE CLASS....

  • Incredible performance, it just does NOT get better than this. This version is haunting its so good.

  • good love song Neil...!!!

  • fantastic

  • Simply... beautiful...

  • @yarrows? for sure..such a great band and who's music will live on for ever..I don't know about the others you have mentioned?

  • Wow that was simply gorgeous

  • "There are many heated debates between Australians and New Zealanders as to which country the band belongs to. In 2006 Neil Finn was quoted "... we are a kiwi band..." when asked about inspirations for their music." wikipedia

  • "....and a song that came from Te Awamutu that had a truly sacred tune..." Te Awamutu is a place in NZ....awkward for your claim

  • I think you'll find that Neil's brother is also a kiwi as are the other band members. They were actually formed in LA and they lived in a crowded house (thus the name). Before that they were known as Split Enz when Tim Finn was the head honcho. Neil jumped in and they renamed their band. You Aussie convicts are so used to stealing stuff that you still try steal anything good that comes from NZ. You can have Russel Crowe.

  • @missaotearoaforever Neil didn't really jump in and rename the band. He was invited to join when two of the older members left. They remained Split Enz for a good 7 or so more years after that. When Tim Finn left to pursue a solo career, Split Enz went for a little longer before Neil finally dissolved it. Shortly after, Neil formed another band entirely, The Mullanes I believe. This band was later renamed Crowded House.

But Yes, Split Enz and Crowded House are both considered Kiwi bands.

  • "The kiwi band, Crowded House are a rock band, " quoted from Wikipedia

  • Best kiwi band ever! Love Split Endz and Crowded House. Hate that Aussies try to claim them because they were based in Melbourne for a while. They reference NZ in their songs because they are kiwis!!!

  • @missaotearoaforever Sorry mate... band was formed in Melbourne... makes em Australian :D

Even if Neil Finn is clearly NZder and is a genius... we get to steal the band. You gotta gives us something... COMON!

  • Wow, sexy

  • veeery nice cover!!cheers ;)

  • @TraLaLoThess "COVER" of What????

  • Neil Finn and Roddy Frame are two of my biggest faves!! On stage!? Together!? Move over Gouldman - you're sitting in MY seat!

  • you don't have a pulse if this song does not bring out your deepest emotions. First heard this song when i was in GRADE6 in high school and now 34, but it still sounds as good as the first time i heard it on the radio.

  • He is the AUSTRALIAN Chris Isaak

  • Roddys solo is smokin' . Great tune..

  • just.... wow

  • mmm awesome ;-)

  • so much better than last night on bbc 4 between the 3 performers ryan adams was a prick

  • Back when music required talent and the live version actually sounded like the album version.

  • Amazing song!

  • Seriously such a great voice

  • Perfect

  • That man sings straight from the soul. The vocal inflections throughout the lyrics are moving.

  • Não consigo parar de ouvir! ^^ Perfeito...

  • Beautiful song! I never get tired of listening to this beautifully written song! BRILLIANT~~

  • I literally just created an account to vent my complete disbelief that some soulless, clueless individual actually "disliked" this. Whoever you are, you're going to have to dislike every other music video on YouTube because, quite simply, it doesn't get better than this.

  • @biwinner87 I wish it showed me who disliked it!

  • @biwinner87 We can only assume that the disliker did it either by accident and is wallowing in a pit of shame about it or it was done maliciously without any reasoning behind it other than being the only person to dislike it and cause social unrest

  • @biwinner87 Haha I've just searched for this song on here (again!) and I completely forgot I wrote this comment! I actually must have been in a blind rage at the time...forgive my low tolerance levels to imbeciles

  • @biwinner87 Jesus, so what, someone disliked a video. There are always people like that :)

I personally love the video :D

  • @biwinner87

You are so right, this is simply breathtakingly good, just the best. 6 sigma says if you do something 55 thousand times, someone will hit the wrong button accidentally about twice. They are watching, they love it too.............

  • @biwinner87

You are so right this is simply breathtaking, it can't get better. 6 sigma says if you do something fifty five thousand times someone will hit the wrong button about twice. In sheer enjoyment and amazement at this talent, they flew the mouse up to that thumb, and too soon accidentally hit the red one. They didn't mean it, they are watching, they love it too...............

  • @biwinner87 Never a truer word spoken!!

  • @biwinner87

    Well said my friend!

  • Don't worry, those 3 poor fuckin' assholes must be deaf...

  • @biwinner87 lol. Good for you. Unfortunately the dislike button is too easy to click accidentally, I'm sure they didn't actually dislike this clip. :-)

  • yarrows............could not agree more!! This is sheer perfection when it comes to songwriting and sorry if others don't agree on the following but the live James Blunt version of this song is fantastic.....check it out if you haven't heard it......but you can't beat this version to be fair :

  • What year was this filmed?

  • @Anon371

Not sure exactly but I had this recorded off the TV on VHS and it must have been at least 10 years ago.

  • @Anon371

Just googled it and it was July 2nd 1999

  • <3<3<3<3<3

  • Always liked CH, I never realized how brilliant Neil Finn was, until now...absolutely amazing.

  • @setzervalve He is so special, a great songwriter, genius pop music.

  • absolutely love this track, I revisit it on occasion and it never fails to lift the hairs on the back of my neck.

  • Take it Roddy......... 3:24

    He certainly does..

  • Neil Finn you are a GOD.......pure genius, thankyou.

  • Incredible! And I agree with YARROWS. If Mr Cowell has any sense - or guts - he would begin the search for this kind of talent and give us back individuals such as these three, all of whom have the real X Factor.

  • who's the cockhead who dislikes this?

  • Checkout the version by Trihouse!

  • The fat dude from 10cc ruins the visual performance of this with this stupid grins. He isn't getting into the mood of the song at all.

  • @GaryLeeMcKinney Yes but he can sure harmonise beautifully :-)

  • I agree, PERFECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm stunned that anyone could dislike this ! Neil Finn is nothing short of amazing and to then put him together with two other men of the same caliber ? genius like this is wasted on some people !

  • To Giri Halliwell Robbie Williams Lady GaGa and all other bullshitters. This is what real songwriters look like.

  • Somebody accidentally clicked the thumb-down for this.

  • @BassByTheBay cunts

  • The vocal harmonies in this track just cured my hangover

  • beautifully represents human emotion..such precision in the voice...excellence...a true genius.

  • this is the perfection of a genius...

  • @ThaSpook7 They do this song so perfect...it's just perfection, perhaps the harmonies on this video are a little sideways, hopefully they'll pick it up as it goes on...there just a bit loud i think, I wonder how they would interprid it as Jazz, I would love to cover it as a Jazz song...

  • @2MyTubes If you do, PLEASE let us know. I'd love to hear it interpreted as a jazz number :)

  • @DarthSiGi I sure will. I do have some recordings but youtube will not convert them, I will have to take a tutorial or something - its very frustrating..

  • Makes you proud to be from Kiwi-land

  • 1 of the best acoustic recordings ever. just brilliant!!!!

  • Simply stunning version of the song, does anyone know where I can get the full Song Writers Circle that this was taken from ? Fell in love with this episode a number of years ago and my nutter ex girlfriend deleted it from my PC, What about Roddy's guitar solo in the middle !!!!
