His tone when he was playing those arpeggios was awesome.... on the other parts I hated that standard guitar god tone if I may call it...
That tone.... y'know.... that screeching clean tone... like in most Joe Satriani instrumentals.
Basically there were awesome parts and phrases in this entire 8 min solo, but most parts conveyed psuedo-emotions (2:40) and also I didn't like the chord progression at all.. even though Steve Morse is skilled guitarist I don't think its a great solo.
OK you want to hear a real guitar solo with real emotion? I will give ya!
This is the solos that made and make me cry everytime I listen to them... they are so beautiful that makes cry and gives me cold sweats. To realize those crying guitar licks were improvized (esp. the one at 4:51) by Jeff makes me weep more.
Jeff Beck feat. Eric Clapton - "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" :

watch?v=wEiyGgWt6no (Only the intro solos are really good, the middle one is ok)
But I know them since my 12th...so I can wait ...they're so good ...had only veryfew missers over 40 years...they might want to go on for a while...as I know from Ian they ENJOY PLAYING THEIR OWN WELL!
He plays like a bird singing. What stunning musicianship - Morse really showcases the versatility of the guitar. To the special person who let this bird out of her cage XX
Holy cow... I've seen him play live like 4 times now- but this just blows everything else away. Steve Morse is to guitar solos what Neil Peart is to drum solos- not necessarily the world's fastest player, but no one comes close to his skill or versatility or musicianship. What a great video!
geniously made... indeed speed is not everything - this solo is so deep .. so developed! - I love especially the part starting at 5:35 - what is the effect used ther btw ? (long delay maybe? ) thanx for uploading this masterpiece!
Wow!!!! Moved my volume control gets in the way. might want to move it back. more control than foot pedal volume. Seems that way at least. Country-Bach-Rock. A great lesson for all the shreaders who think speed is everything. Whats the other toggle for?
I've seen him several times with the dregs and the steve morse band and he's usually pretty clean. His technical skills versatilaty and tastefulness make him the bsst Iv'e seen so far and I've seen quite a few of the great ones. Jeff Beck, Vai, Satriani, Johnson, Patrucci, Gambale. Howe, Vaughn. Steve's compositions are head and shoulders above the rest IMO.
This is my best solo ! More power more fast, a true solo with 3 part and especialy very long, 9 minutes__.. which show the talent of steve, yes his way to play with his tone is amazing and hard, the sound is 'space', go to the moon !!! ^^ steve is the best !! thanks for the comment !!
I really appreciate this video being posted. I had the chance to enjoy this very solo some months before Australia, at an open air stadium under a starred summer night.
El mejor solo de la historia! :)

This is the only solo that can stand up next to Andy Timmons' cry for you (live) and Camel - Ice. To me of course!

I'm not actually a big fan of his shredding - I think at times he can get sloppy... but that other stuff he plays is just absolutely mindblowing.
My vote for the most versatile guitarist out there!
