  • People never seem to mention that he was a fine guitar player as well. Fantastic!

  • Hi, thank's for sharing.

    Cheers

  • It's great...BUT KEEP YOU EXPLANATION AND EGO AT THE DOOR...let the man sing and be remembered, ....who cares who recorded it, blah, blah,blah.....it's here for the world to see..

  • @zaxmack Whatever, dude.

  • @sotvomike Thanks for sharing this video. I thought the background story was very interesting so thanks for sharing that too.

  • I saw John in concert 3 times in the mid 70s and he was wonderful! The thing I loved most about his live performances were that he always sung the songs the way they were recorded, never changed them or made them sound different. A beautiful voice. Gone but never forgotten. We miss you John!

  • Thanks for showing this video. I have always missed John Denver. I first heard Country Road when I was 12. Now I am 46, and still love this song.

    Good people dont live long.

    NK Chew, Malaysia

  • Thank You

  • he is the trickle of the stream, the song of the bird in the forest, and the flower in the desert, and the smell of lilacs in the spring. he is the lightning flashing across the twilight desert sky,the sounds of the summer night in the forest, and the freshness of the springtime mountains. remember his perceptions. the unicorn will remember him, too.

  • thank you for putting this together and letting everyone share. i was with concerts west for many years and toured with john. we all miss him and his music

  • I've seen this video a lot of times and I cannot believe this would be the last performance, I never saw him in live concert, the year he came to my country Chile was in 1985 and I couldn't go unfortunetly but I have enjoyed his songs through the years with the same feeling of love for his music, he was those kind of man people love no matter the circunstances around his life. RIP John, I love you. Thanks for this beautiful and sad video.

  • I was blessed to have seen John's last ever concert in London in May 1997. His death was a sad loss to this world.

  • Thank you for sharing, so greatly appreciated, he is sooo missed, how people need to listen to words to songs more than the music. He is flying around!

  • Damn, that is sad We had to lose John. I miss him.

  • I'm so glad you posted this :)

  • maa ki choote

  • @sotvomike Thank you, thank you, thank you. I could never afford to go to concerts when I was young and in highschool in 1973 at 15 and so in love with John and his music. His death was shattering. This video just confirms what an awesome musical talent he was and what a great gift he gave to the world. God Bless you for sharing. I will save this link so I can return often.

  • @sotvomike Michael Martin Murphy sang this song - in which he wrote - at the tribute concert for John Denver who was inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in April 2011. It was an incredibly concert with a few well known performers singing songs that every John Denver fan knows. I am proud to say that I could sing along with every song that they performed.

  • happy birthday john from the uk.we all miss you.

  • sure do miss him and his music

  • thanks for sharing. sure do miss john denver

  • A treasure indeed.. Thank you so much for posting it..♥

    Marion~

  • Thanks for sharing this--shows his heart and spirit. My college roommate was nuts for John and got me interested--I'm glad he did. Blessings to all who see this and know some of the wild places he sang about.

  • Thank you for sharing with us

  • Thanks for this songs,we listen each day at John but these are especials. From Argentina.Magdalena y Manuel

  • He was an Angel on Earth... sent to touch our hearts, minds and souls.....We love you, John... Forever

  • Wow, another great song by a mastert of his craft...his melodies are a true spirit.

  • what a beautiful song and his last performance! RIP John, your music was so much of my childhood from Leaving on a Jet Plane (by Peter, Paul and Mary) which most people don;t know you wrote, to Back Home Again. At 57 I realize now your music will live on and you were not just another Barry Manilow singer as some DJs once said back in the 70s.

  • play his music all the time, and I even find new songs to love

  • Our hearts have missed his words of hope and connection to our Planet. Those who have hardened their hearts and turned to greed and fear could use some of John's beautiful words and messages. He once said at at Windstar Choices Symposium, We know what to do ..why aren't we doing it?....I'ts About Time...thanks so much for sharing this video...I cried..

  • What was the song this video led into at the end?

  • @MDAvera What you hear during the last part of the tape is the first verse and part of the chorus to the song "Amazon (Let This Be a Voice)". It can be found on the "Different Directions" album, as well as on the "Wildlife Concert" album and DVD, and on the "Harbor Lights Concert" album.

  • Thanks for the memories. I only wish there was more...

  • I worked at a record label where John was on the BOD - he was such a nice man and such a loss when he died. Thanks for this memory

  • Thank you SO MUCH for sharing...

  • I can listen to John sing all night long......often I do.

  • He loved the sun like Icarus ascending.....

  • Knew I would return to listening to this wonderful singer at some point in my life. My mother passed away on January 7th. His musics simplicity and the remarkable gift of his talent seems to honor her life in a way I could not. That this video has existed in limbo for so many years and is now available is also a gift. Thank you for sharing it. Peace and blessings.

  • he was a true singer with a difernt kinda voice he will live on

  • e played lots of his songs when i was younger...i missed his voice... i miss him...

  • It's so sad, there's even flowers there, like he's singing his epitaph, like he's the boy from the country, something so beautiful and sad in John Denver, as if his sadness just kept growing, trying to fly up to the sun.

  • From a John Denver fan...to Sotvomike..thanx mate...certainly a great video and remembrance for us all...Long Live John Denver!!! thankyou.

  • Thank you.

  • I always loved this song. I sing it in the feminine voice as its my own story as well! It always brings tears to my eyes. Love this man, loved his music and values and still miss him. When I heard his death on the news as I was driving along Turnagain Arm in Alaska, a part of me died.. I had dreamed as a teenager that he and I would someday be together.... and now I realize, we always will be...as I travel and tour and sing..he continues to be my inspiration...

  • Thank you for sharing this. I saw John /Denver in concert in the '70s. He continued to give the world beautiful music. peace

  • Incredible voice, his voice was actually better live than on recordings. Very underrated guitar player also. I saw him live in Nashville Dec. 1993.

  • I was raised listening to john. thank you for posting!

  • Boy From The Country ... I started crying. One of my all time favorite JD songs. Thank you so much for sharing this with us all. It's been so many years and the hole in my heart left by his passing his still there.

  • I still miss him.

  • Deer Lord, Please hold John close to you and bless everyone that has the privalage of vieving this. His music is a blessing and praise to GOD.

  • i understand this song. i can relate

  • talking about himself, great song.

  • i saw John in concert when he was on tour with An Evening With John Denver..he was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo great! He talked to the audience and laughed with them. This was in Toronto at the CNE..Gone but never forgotten..Him and Jimmy Buffett have the same qualities..you just leave feeling so great!

  • Way cool ; ) Back when I was a teen in the early 70s I listened to John's beautiful songs so much that I wore the records out...also back when I was surrounded by sisters and piers who wouldn't be caught dead listening to anything but Rock n Roll....I liked that too but John's music was more akin to my soul and I didn't really care what the others thought...thankfully ; ) I really miss you John...and your soulful spirit gracing us all with your beautiful words and music...

  • He feeds my soul everday with his music. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for this video.

  • WOW! Thank you so much for posting this sotvomike. I found this I was watching some Doris Day and John Denver videos on youtube and this one caught my eye. I feel so blessed to have come stumbled upon it bursting into tears as my heart opened after being in a suicidal depression for over a year. I've loved John Denver since being a child and my soul soars when I hear him. I never heard the first one and I needed it tonight. My humblest gratitude to you and dearest John for all he did for Mother.

  • Any footage of such a legend should be shared, it is sad that you could not get a response from anybody associated with him. But I suppose as a public figure all his family desire now is to left alone.

He was something else as a performer. I will admit I have become a fan since his death only, never could appreciate his music as ayoung fellow, I am now only 47.

  • My left ear enjoyed this.

  • I loved John Denvers music! He and Dan Fogelburg are greatly missed in hte music profession because they had a way of making the listener a part of the song. Both were exceptional story tellers through song. Thanks for posting!

  • Even now, as I listen to John's timeless music, I Remember how he made me feel as if the problems of the world would just fade away as I took a walk in the mountains and the Forrest that his lyrics project in my mind. Thank you for the peace John.

  • I still remember my Momma given me the HORRIBLE news about John Denver's plane crashing!! I bawled for DAYS!!

  • I want to add my thanks for this footage of a wonderful artist we'll always remember for his golden voice and wonderful smile.

  • A beautiful man. Wonderful music. Thank you so much for sharing. I will always miss him.

  • Thanks for sharing, forgot how much I missed him and his songs

  • We had

  • he sure could sing, I loved his voice and his country ways

  • Thank you for this wonderful film, you've just made an old man cry...

  • Thank you sotvomike. Even though I'm sitting here with tears pouring down my face; you have just made today perfect for me. I guess I'll never stop missing him.

  • Thank you for posting this! John came onto the music scene, made it big time, when I was in my teens. He made such a postive impact in my life, I can't say how grateful I am that he was here. Rest his soul....

  • i fell in love with him when i was 4 and begged my my mum for is album for christmas, birthday when i was 5 and i'm 43 now. i've seen him twice live in aust. love him , miss him, the best singer song writer. they can copy him, but they will never be him!

  • Thanks so much for sharing this ever so precious footage and this gift. Thank you John Denver!!!

  • Christmas is coming. Give the gift of John Denver's music by sharing his words of love and peace for the earth and its people. Our world needs sooooooo many more people to follow his lead. What a voice. What a loss to our world in physical but not in emotional. Please make a choice to choose world peace. To stop the fighting and the hurting.

  • Such a special way to start the day - John singing to me....

    Thanks for posting this video!!

  • Thank you sotvomike for keeping it all these years and sharing for all to see and remember all the good he did for peace, for the world.

  • @MEH50caribe You're welcome! I'm glad I did and so many people like you appreciate it!

  • @MEH50caribe Thank you again. When he was asked why he was not as popular as he once was, he said, "They won't play me." That was before YouTube, which is a powerfule marketing device. So very sad he did not live to share his music with us more.

  • @MEH50caribe I agree....a great thank you. He will never be forgotten his music will live on and on. I have to stop no matter where I am or what i am doing and listen whenever I hear him. I still cry.

  • I'm moved to tears... thank you so much for posting this...

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I will always miss him. One of the most perfect days of my 20's was when I was in grad school in Fort Collins, Colorado, and got to see him sing at Red Rocks (2nd row, center :) ). His music still touches me deeply and will the rest of my life. I also am a pacifist, environmentalist and adoptive mom, so his ideals life on through my life.

  • I will hold love in my heart for this man for the rest of my life.

  • RIP John Denver, Your voice was amazing. This is what true music is. God Bless,

  • The day John Denver died my daughter called me from her office and told me she had been thinking of me all day. She was born in 1970, so she knew that my heart would be broken...and she was right. The 70's were hard years for me. Sometimes I just wanted to give up. That's when I would turn on John. He was my favorite singer then...he's my favorite singer now and always. Just think how beautiful heaven's choir must sound!

  • Thank you for posting this gem. I have wonderful memories of seeing john on a few occasions and his music has meant so much to me since I was a kid. There was always something about his songs, his voice and the beautiful message that always came across that seemed to touch my heart. It was a terrible and very upsetting day when I heard of his death, and it's still hard to watch things on here and know he's gone. I know that people who love John and his music share something very special

  • Thanks for this post. I cried so hard the day he died. My brother called me on the phone and told me. I blasted his songs out my apt window for all to hear. I miss going to his concerts. I saw his last performance in the D.C area for my friends birthday and wanted to ask him to sing her happy birthday at the concert but chickened out of asking. I should have tried. He may have done it! Now we will never know.

  • Thank you for sharing this. I can not watch it without crying. I miss him.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this. It is terribly sad to me that he lost his life, instead of being able to continue to share his talents and abilities with us and with the earth and nature. I love him still and listen to him all the time. No one quite like him to me.

  • Spooky but good of you to share and really quite beautiful of John's family to let him rest in peace........ just as it be. Amen

  • Thank you SO MUCH for putting this up. John was AN AMAZING artist and performer. I truly miss him; thank God for people like you who keep his message alive.

  • Amen to all these posts. John just rocks your soul gently like like the smile from a pretty lady.

  • God speaking.

  • Wow, I've got tears in my eyes right now! I became a fan of John Denver 37 years ago when I was 12 years old. I've loved his music since then. I haven't listened to it in a while, so when I saw this video listed, I just had to watch it.

Thanks so much for sharing this with us!

  • I am so grateful that I knew John Denver and his music as it will live in my heart forever. He is missed by so many and will always be missed by me. He was a believer in the Great Spirit and it is plain he lived his life with that as his guide. God bless you John!

  • Great that you have this video of John. Such a loss and such a wonderful composer and singer. Sure miss his music.

  • A singer who when you hear him, you know he is really what he sings. Sincere and genuine only add to his talent which was almost haunting.

  • thanks for sharing this amazing video! john will live forever in his music

  • John lost his mojo after Windsong... his songs became trite and forgettable .. I think he was affected by his own hype.... overexposed. His early songs are brilliant and well written. Google " Newsweek John Denver Sunshine Boy " and read the article and you'll understand why he fell off the charts after it was published.

    gifted vocalist though

  • I listen to John Denver everyday. His music has helped me all my life.Thank you so much for putting this here.He was truly a gift to humanity.

  • THANK YOU

  • I miss him so much. He was a star too bright for this earth. Now an angel in heaven, singing his heart out. Thank you.

  • there is not a days that goes by that i do not miss John and his songs I have listened to his since he first came to the UK and i have him on my phone and nave most of his records and now CD's

  • John i was a dedicated singer too you my friend you had such a wonderful voice . a voice of an angel now im undergoing an operation in the throat because i wouldn,t leave it to the experts but still believe i was right maybe after op i can sing again ty John

  • Thank you. He was the best live performer I have ever seen.

  • -----JUST WONDERFUL !!!,,,, :D

  • I grew up listening to John Denver. I adore his music he was and still is my Dad's favorite singer. He's the reason my Dad picked up a guitar when he was 12 years old, He's the one who's music is playing in my house every single day, if ever I feel homesick all I have to do is listen to John Denver and I'm home again. Thank you John Denver for your beutiful music. You have contributed so much to not only my life but to many others as well.

  • ohhhhhhh i wish i was at this concert. alas, john denver was before my time. i grew up listening to his music and i wish that i had the chance to see him in concert. it would have been great to hear music in its purist form. this was music before we had what we have today. got bless you JD

  • @highlander661 I grew up listening to JD. I was at this concert. It was in a small auditorium, very intimate setting; Just him and his guitars, will never forget it.

  • My only regret in life i never saw him live I'm 67 years old and listen at least to one of his concerts everyday R.I.P. my son

  • Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to watch and especially to those who have left such heartfelt comments! I get your comments on my phone and not one day goes by when there isn't at least one. I just checked in to see that views are almost up to 200,000! Wow! I'm so glad more and more every day that I shared this.

Also, please do not msg me to ask for the original file. I will not release it unless it is to John's family or management. Thanks for your understanding.

  • He is greatly missed... I often wonder what he would be singing and writing about today but I think I know.... Because he is the boy from the country! What a beautiful message he left us.....

  • Thanks for posting - miss him still.........

  • One of my Greatest Brothers

  • Sent a shrill down my spine. This beauty reminds me just how much I miss John.A man of great simplicity as evident from his lyrics but a man of such great love and wisdom. And I came from the old school metal era.Megadeth,Iron Maiden. Some narrow minded dicks can't understand why I loved this singer cos I still wear the old Megadeth jackets from time to time and listen to their music but I think that deep down John is one of those people who taught me that music is music. It either touches you or no

  • How I still miss sweet John`s beautiful heartfelt tunes! There is no one to take up his mantle of trying to protect our environment and the creatures that inhabit it. No one with his stature and voice.

  • I was at this concert in Corpus Christi, Texas. It was one of the most beautiful and thrilling live performances I'd ever seen. John Denver captured the hearts and minds of millions of people in his limited years on earth. We all suffered a loss with his tragic death.

  • I HURT EVEVY DAY IDN'T HHEAR HIM ALIVE

  • Hi,

While searching for some John Denver music I came across this video this morning....THANK YOU SO MUCH! I saw John in July (in New Jersey) before his death. My eyes are filling up now just thinking about it all. I just need to tell you how much I appreciate this video. And, this was one of my favorite John Denver songs! Thanks again.

    rainnie51@aol.com

  • So many memories of good times listening to his songs. Now, I am sad listening to his beautiful clear voice and remembering.......I am so still, in awe. Miss just knowing he was somewhere on this Earth somewhere.......making music

  • Thanks for sharing this.

  • When his music inspired me to learn guitar, this was one of the first songs I learned.

  • I guess the good really do die young. I'll listen to his music for the rest of my life.

  • He was a national treasure and I miss him

  • He was a national treasure and I miss him

  • A timeless air about him, his sound, his voice, his music--the feeling that you just want to cry because it's so beautiful. Save your negative replies please, but I will say I feel the love of God when certain people sing. In Britain, I think they call it the X factor; others say "I just can't describe how you feel". By the way, I can't remember the name of the first song. Anybody can help me?

  • @purlofgreatprice1 The song is "Boy from the country". It's a great beautiful song, isn't it?

  • We will all enjoy John's music and awesome voice and, those many other talented, gifted performers that are gone but never forgotten. Yes, Karen Carpenter was so very awesome as well and entertained us with her voice soft as velvet. Life has no guarentees and to have seen these talented performers in our lifetime is truly a gift. Thank you to all those who are still with us, and, also no longer with us that have inspired our lives with such heartfelt and meaningful lyrics and music.

  • he was amazing

  • This man is.....not like any other man. There is a gentleness and a sweetness to his soul that you feel when he sings and plays his guitar. There is, however...another musician that comes to mind when you listen to JD...Karen Carpenter. She was also...ONLY one of a kind and she is gone too. May they both rest in peace....and THANK HEAVEN we are able to revel in their talent and their undeniable genius. JD and KC............we love you.

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. JD was simply the best singer-songwriter of his day (and for that matter, most others). What a great performer and humanitarian - most of my best concert memories are from his shows.

    A Song's Best Friend indeed...

  • Angels voice and heart...

  • His music has always had a way of touching my soul and expressing my heart's desire perfectly.

  • I can't help but to think of all the wonderful music he would have made in the last 14 years...

    We miss you John!

  • I love you John!

  • thank you for your beautiful music, ill always gonna miss you

  • Today is October 12th and we lost John Denver back on this date in 1997....so today lets remember him by sending up awesome blessings and thanks for that journey he lead us on. Love, Anetbeme

  • Thank You!

  • My favourite singer of all time.Calypso makes my heart soar.

  • Hi,

For anyone wanting to know (who doesn't by now) the second song is called "Amazon," and it is amazing! It can be found on John Denver's 'The WILDLife Concert' CD/DVD. It was filmed in N.Y.C. - Sony Music Studios - on February 23 and 24, 1995. He was recorded as saying he was thrilled at the opportunity to do the concert because it gave people a chance to hear that specific song. Hope that helps anyone who doesn't know the second song from this concert. Thank you for a wonderful post...

  • thank you so much!

wow, that abrupt ending to your footage really got me, made me think of how abrupt and uncalled for his death was r.i.p.

  • Thanks for the video, it really means a lot. I'm from Corpus and was sick and didn't get to go to the show. Still have the tickets..

  • I love this man's music and heart. I felt like he was a brother to me.

  • Jdixon56, you said it all! John Denver was the Best, but tied with Peter, Paul and Mary (God Bless Her Soul) Thank God, I had the chance to meet them and tell them how much their music and their efforts mean to me. They are not gone, they are with God!

  • Boy From The Country was written by Michael Martin Murphy. Last summer I saw MMM in concert in Colorado and he did a tribute to John Denver and said some very nice things about him. A classy guy...

  • How do you know they don't just because they've never spoken to you

  • Sixtoomanycatz: God, your response is as moving as the video itself. I totally agree. I went to 9 JD concerts, and he was the incarnation and symbol for everthing good.

  • Is it just a coincidence that there's a flower reef on stage?

  • @myold74 yes i noticed that to, how erie

  • Comment removed

  • Fabulous !...John Denver...as far as I am concerned was the most magnificent singer/songwriter of all time.He sang with emotion...he wrote with such beauty and insight. God I miss him terribly even after all this time. Thanks so much for posting this last video of JD.
