  • My cosin is dick fosbury

  • Right up there with Babe Ruth & Bobby Orr in changing the way a game was played.

  • @ProfessorHess What's a fuck ass?

  • Comment removed

  • Fuck reddit, the most ruthless internet thugs online.

  • Haha, see NIGGERS! Why guys can jump. Fuck the anti-white stereotypes!

  • @ProfessorHess someone should make a rhyme out of that comment

  • Apparently jumping over a pole is a great sport.

  • Wadsworth constant applies

  • wadsworth constant

  • Greetings Redditors

  • His friends called him Floppy Dick.

  • Fosbury stole this technique from your mother, who came up with the move as a way to leap onto my gargantuan penis.

  • @gregarious24 lol

  • @gregarious24 I read that as the Japanese dude from the Chinpokemon episode of South Park.

  • PHD Flopper

  • Innovation baby.

  • Wadsworth!

  • Wonder if his friends called him floppy Dick

  • Fozzie for the win!

  • @IFknHateUTube aka every single high jumper now-a-days

  • @NoLMAOnade Yes, it's reverse homophobia

  • wadsworth constant applies

  • @itzapro no it doesnt

  • i dunno that

  • I have a waffle on my stomach.

  • Check another one off the list of reasons why the usa is so great. :)

  • @CHARG3R Gotta be a pretty short list

  • It's the original double jump.

  • Derriere of intelligence.

  • FOSBURY MATE !!!!!!

  • Air of intelligence, not heir.

  • He still does it to this day.

  • That's how they taught me to do it in middle school.

  • Australians make the best documentary voice-over people.

  • finally men are getting their balls back: MANHOOD101. COM

  • @thenfm That website is retarded and you should feel retarded.

  • @thenfm Nah, not really, i'm just concerned that boys are growing up in an environment that is overly obsessed with masculinity and appearance. People say chivalry is dead and it is, but what they don't understand is that chivalry was partly a code of honor and partly the primary way males in our culture expressed a kinder side. I'm concerned that our culture is putting too much pressure in gender binaries and stereotypes. I am a faggot though. Why? Do you want to fuck or something?

  • @TheSchimmi first of all you're fucking retarded hipster faggot who has no clue what masculinity is. like most fucking morons you think masculinity is about growing a beard, drinking beer and bench pressing 300lbs. you're too fucking dumb to even intelligently investigate the meaning of masculinity. like most hipster faggots, you're simply taught that women are good and men are bad. time to get your fucking balls back.

  • @thenfm Way to reply with a lack of logic and a plethora of profanity.

I don't like beer, i don't like beards and to me working out is nothing more than keeping fit. Women and men are neither good nor evil. Being a man is the same as being a woman. Being a person. Masculinity, however, is bullshit.

And my balls are right here i'm touching them right now.

  • @thenfm LOL U MAD

  • @osufann69 U STILL MAD FAGGOT? HAHAHAHAHAHHA

  • @thenfm You sure do give off the heir of intelligence. "Very" philosophical.

You remind me of Mr Lebowski in The Big Lebowski. So concerned about manhood. Really, all that is required is a pair of testicles. You seem really concerned about building and protecting your masculinity and manhood? Why do you feel like you are lacking it anyway. You're probably not missing anything. You feel like you are missing it because youre afraid to express you innate femininity.

    This time, reply intelligently.

  • @TheSchimmi U STILL MAD FAGGOT? HAHAHAHHAHAH

  • @thenfm That's what i thought.

  • @thenfm Wait, but this happened years upon years ago, so what do you mean, finally? And how does changing the style of the high-jump in the Olympics fall under the definition of Ultra-Masculine?

  • Wadsworth constant applies.

  • White people; always inventing better way to do things

  • you all know you like this video because a white man out jumped a black one.

  • the white men can jump

  • changing the metagame:D

  • @slayercheese001 op, needs to be nerfed

  • Is this the announcer from Forza 4?

  • mmmm...1968 games were amaazing. bob beamon in long jump achieving a jump so far, it was almost half a meter beyond measuring equipment. dick revolutionising high jump forever and winning...thumbs up if you want the 2026 olympics held in mexico (mek-ki-ko) city haha

  • @HUGOVANTA The gravity is lower in mexico city so jumping records are easier to break there.

  • @noseminer gravity? man i think you mean that the air is thinner and has less oxygen because mexico city was a long way above sea level, This place is still in the same atmosphere as the rest of the world. much harder to breathe there so u cant say records are easier to break e.g 1500m, 5k, 10k etc.. but i understand what your trying to say :)

  • IMO the 1968 US Olympic Track and Field Team was the greatest track and field team ever assembled.

  • I remember this. Magic! It was also the greatest olympics i ever saw. Jim ryun lost to the kenyans (who were less than honest in how they beat him). John carlos and two other cats gave the "black power salute" when they played the national anthem. kip keno dropped out of the 10,000 metres, took oxygen, then rose and finished it. drama, tragedy, heroism, everything you'd ask for in an olympics. 68 in mexico city.

  • They stopped the comp at 2.24? He looks well above it.

  • No us jumper would win another gold until 1996

  • Siempre aparece alguien ingenioso que rompe con todo!!! Perfect!!

  • wow i didnt know xD this is cppç

  • Why is the commentator calling him Fosbury when it it very clearly Fosby??

  • @Chumpy1956 because his name is Fosbury. Think about it.

  • he doesnt use his arms or else he could make it higher

  • They should have named it the Dick flop.

  • @watnazn DONE!

  • @MrPinolo Is he still watching? :D

  • Me encanta el salto fosbury!!!!

  • What technique is the black guy doing at 0:49 - awesome...

  • @GrueneBiene that was the old Western Roll........

  • Humans always Want to be higher...

Maybe to escape of réality on the ground ?

  • I have a new technic for High jump...

You put an elevator just in front.

  • i high jump in high school and i have only seen one guy ever do the barrel roll technique. i cant imagine not doing the flop.

  • Thanks Fosbury, made me the Champ of Hong Kong D2 High Jump <3

  • Even more radical than McEnroe's tennis serve. Here's to doing it Your Way!! Ha ha

  • a benefit of thinking the opposite way!!

  • He is a great pioneer.

If the Fosbury flop was not designed, the world record of 2m45 might have been also impossible.

berryrool evades and I think the record of hurried 2m30 to be might like the style of [ru].

Does a new way to jump come out some day?

  • @amp3cx10000a7jp Roundoff to a block jump like the gymnasts do? But maybe it disqualifies you to touch down with your hands (don't know high jump).

  • I really respect him.

  • now aj styles uses it as a amazing pro wrestling move

  • i shit in the snow once and it was a "frosty plop"

  • @msc1969x AAAArghh..!! You,asshole,i just cant stop laughing and it is killing me!!

  • I thought it was Frosby Flop.

  • 68 was one hell of year for olympic jumping, new method for highjump and the long jump world record being shattered by nearly 2 feet

  • I. never. knew that!

  • That's the Spirit : )

  • how dose fosbury do it with out using his arms lool ?

  • what a monster.

  • IM A HIGH JUMPER!

  • @progoalie88. Athletes proba

  • süß

  • Awesome movie! Im a 68 Olympian collecting photos and movies from all my teammates to assemble on to DVDs for everyone, and we would be absolutely thrilled to have permission from you to include a copy of your movie in our 68 Olympic Team Photoshare Project DVDs! Please click reply to my comment here if this would be POSSIBLE or NOT possible, THANK YOU!

  • @1968Olympix fuck the copy , just legit , download it , vixy . net

  • I love those moments in sports, where there are clearly different styles of doing the actual attemp.

Like in shot put where the athletes have two very different styles. I wish every event had still multiple ways of doing things. Athletes should be able to use imagination.

  • Fosbury = Poetry in motion.

  • This was in my language arts reading book

  • Cool . Read about this in the crts

  • Look at the slo mo when Foz crosses the bar. Did he have a hole in his shorts?

  • AH!! so he's Fosbury.... lol we're learning about Fosbury Flop for high jump @ school; it's actually fun xD

  • I was disqualified from a 4th grade track and field day high jump competition because I had not yet learned the Fosbury Flop. It was a new elementary school, and they hadn't bothered to teach me this technique, and even though I cleared the bar, DQ!

This is 1985 in California and I was 10 years old. Little did I know that 20 years before, everybody was doing it my way. I'm so fricking old school, and they couldn't hang.

  • In those days the bars they jumped over were made of metal (aluminum). You could get a big metal burn if you sliced your body on that bar.

  • I have been coached by him!!!!!!!

  • 0:36

  • @N1kk095 whart's soo greattt about 0:36 ?

  • he should be given the noble prize for physics changed the course of high jump forever

  • @tennisitar Good point. It's amazing that it took until 1968 for that method to be discovered. I thought it was earlier than that.

  • @marathon1974 it has to do with the equipment. Earlier there was no mat behind the bar, so you have to land carefully and the flop would surelly cause injury if not worse.

  • @OscarLiu24

good point. also sort of destroys the fanaticism going on here. your comment should be the highest rated one.

  • @tennisitar "noble" prize for "physics"? uuf!!

  • I want those spikes.

  • すごい!!

    ハイジャンプっていいなぁ xD

  • If I am 5`9" tall and can clear a 4`10" by barely jogging my way up and having really bad form, about how high can I go if I RUN my way up and have CORRECT form?

  • over 6'6" easy, assuming you run and have correct form. im a highschool junior, 6'3", jumping 6'. its a lot easier said than done, its more of 'perfecting an art' more than practicing form. of course leg workouts help, but its all about leaving the ground asap on your last step, and generating thrust. PM me if you have questions, i went to dwight stones's camp ( he jumped 7'8").. i know a thing or two :)

  • thats cool! I got coached by both dwight stones and dick fosbury! I'm a girl and I used to jump 5'4' which is pretty good for a girl! you should consider dick fosbury's camp in Maine!

  • well considering 4'10 isnt hard who knows

  • yes

    They did

  • why would they die?

  • A breakthrough... A turning point... Beauty and Truth enlacing each other in the air...!

  • The question is did He make money out of his technique ?

  • You're a retard

  • Are you a republican ?...

  • You're IQ is below 75

  • Which unit of measure we are using here ? You, being republican, you must still be talking imperial...

  • He's trying to say you need to sort out your priorities

  • Priorities...in relation to what ? If Fosbury could have patented his technique...well...

  • that's the stupidest thing i've ever heard.

  • ...ever read...not ever heard...

    +

Are you his (the other one I am having a debate with) republican brother ?

  • ever consider that maybe the majority of the people here disagree with you and not just one family?

  • Majority of 2 ?...Go away you republican, you have lost...

  • were they sixer kicking at that hight

  • My grandpa did high jump in high school with Fosbury in Medford, Oregon. He tells me stories about track practice and meets all the times and how officials at meets would try to DQ him for "cheating." Haha. Cool stuff.

  • Damn, too bad he cant land that good, otherwise

he would be bomb at jumping fences and stuff,

    he'd never get caught

  • So that it was ......

  • Excelente técnica! Vídeo sensacional !

  • veryvery nice video

  • OK. I want to get this straight after all of these years. Does everyone agree that on Fosbury's take off, his inside (left) knee starts to come up *before* he plants his right foot? And this is the opposite of what you would do if you tried to dunk a basketball or simply jump up to grab a basketball rim?

  • Wicked.

  • If you go to masters track and field meets, you'll still see guys using the "Western Roll," the style Ed Carruthers used here

  • from idaho ya

  • nice vid

  • I very much remember watching Dick Fosbury jumping this way in 1968 and incredibly clearing 6'8" at the time and listing to the stunned broadcasters. I made sure to stay up and watch him when it came his turn in Mexico City. Great thing ABC did, Jim McKay introduced him as the gold medal winner sitting down with his back to the camera! McKay said "Let me introduce you to the man who won the gold the same way he is sitting her, backward!" Dick Fosbury turned around, smiling. Great!

  • One shoe black with white stripes, the other white with black stripes. 1968.

  • saludos desde mexico

  • I was there live when Fosbury won the Olympics (only 10 years old)...at first most of the crowd thought he was a nut, but as he kept clearing increasing heights, the crowd started quieting and realizing they were seeing something new....that they were seeing history beeing made....

  • My dad was a good high jumper in college before they used the fosbury flop... It would have been pretty much impossible then as they jumped into sawdust or sand pits mostly. He broke his back regardless... Before that he could jump and touch his foot on the rim of a basketball hoop and land on his feet, and he was 5'11. His nickname was "Animal Man."

  • LOL at 0:52 WAS FUNNY :D DOLPHINE :D

  • Those bars that they jumped over were metal so if you fell on them, they could give you metal burn.

  • how would the metal burn them?

  • this is an enlightening documentary clip. thanks for posting it.

  • Learning is fun.

  • you just made my day

  • anyways... sweet video

  • haha

  • wow.

  • Innovation & imagination.

  • white men CAN jump

  • you sure have on big penis
