exactly. It is the same thing without the big production values. But hot rodding was a problem in the early 50s. Kids were dying in street racing and there weren't any organized venues for them to use. Robert Petersen of Hot Rod Magazine launched a campaign to invent drag racing and get the kids off the streets. It worked until the recent revival of street racing. As they say, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
