If you convert that 80 thousand dollars to Caadian money,
it will buy a fine home in rural Saskatchewan or New Brunswick with acreage! I'll stick with my ancient Plymouth, but it's nice to dream... Wouldn't you be scared of taking that off-road and getting it dirty? :)
I always think that if anyone had the money to truly afford one, they'd also have the money to not worry if it's scratched, hit or stolen. Lease another, buy another.
I'll take the house in Saskatchewan and your Plymouth!
I think the sad truth is that most buyers will never see anything other than clean, straight line asphalt with these things.
I saw a landrover Freelander today, it looked SMALL! I prefer the huge thing I saw my neighbours loading canoes into the other day-so sorry I didn't catch it on camera-or spot the name of the model, or the reg so I had no idea what year it was. But it looked pretty cool!
I always felt the Freelander was a marketing mistake. Quite agile off roading, but no one took them seriously here. A 'baby' Land Rover was not status. The last redesign was quite pleasing on the eye however. I loved the pic you took of that Jeep in Liverpool. It's a sign, buy one!
Shit I watched this this morning and didn't comment.. But hey it was 4 am..I like a Rover too there very nice vehicles that are designed to go wherever ya wanna go... Notice all those African safari trips? there driving rovers thru Africa! No dealership in site to have them serviced? cause there basically bullet proof but when they do break whew! Get out the check book! lol
Had one! With a V8. When they first came out in 93 (V6) they looked like nothing else on the road. I even joked that the 90's re-design of the original Range Rover copied the Grand Cherokee ;)
exactly.... Once drove about 50 miles hauling ass drunk as heel in the interstate median in one driving over all kinds of stuff cause traffic was stopped.
You're still getting up too early man! I'm glad you saw it :)
They are the true and only off-roaders with pedigree. I remember up until not to long ago they used a modified Buick V8 engine. Those were even more bulletproof. But in the end the British Lucas brand electrical system would do them in.
Great video i bet i've seen 200 of that model or some near that models age they do look very nice. This makes me want to take my camera with me car shopping here soon when i get the check from my wreck .I wonder how nervous it would make the person riding with me for the test drive:D
1995?!?! I specifically remember drooling over a Defender at a dealership right after I started nursing school in '93 and I know I was seeing Range Rovers and their dealerships several years before that.
Nope, you're right - it is not an earth friendly vehicle. I admit that they are very attractive though. So, the white out package on the rear lights is factory? Somehow I always thought it was aftermarket. I wish you luck with your dreams.
That white out package is factory. A lot of kids put them after market in souped up Honda's and other Jap cars. Many of the auto companies are recently catching on, but it was BMW who first did that for a factory vehicle in Europe - before the kids :)
I could definitely go for that! If my jeep is too uncomfortable then I'll get one of those. In fact I'm bloody jealous you got a test-drive. My local jeep dealership has shut down and the nearest one can't spare a precious new jeep just for test-driving! I bet I could get a test drive on a shopping trolley (smart car) but who'd want that!!!
I'm all for responsibility and taking care of the environment. But I'm getting a little bit American when it comes to cars!
That looks like it may be exactly like the car my uncle drove when I visited him in Ireland many years ago, he had a 4L LandRover Automatic that he eventually got rid of because the cost of running it was crazy. He also got rid of his yaught for the same reason. How the other half live eh? lol!
Fascinating. I would expect nothing less from the famed actor. Indeed, petrol is much, much more expensive where you are and they aren't cheap to maintain.
Wish we would have had it when you were here though!

BMW sold Landrover/Range Rover a few years ago to Ford but the engines and some components of the Range Rover are still made by BMW ;o)
Range Rovers are really majestic ... I own one but only in the scale of 1/18, haha ;o)
BattlefieldDoktor 2 years ago
Thanks for that! Indeed Ford would be the current owner.
It felt light and fast, yet decidedly heavy enough to feel expensive and solid.
And 1/18 scale, well you own more of a Range Rover than me ;)

Good, I plan to corrupt you!
I'd never heard of a dealer not ready and willing to let a potential buyer drive a car. Yet ooolong9 had the same problem here in the States.
And to think we almost arranged a test drive here for a Porsche 911 :)

Got to admit, today I just want to pack my bags and take my chances in the New World!
I'm so bloody Impulsive sometimes I probably would, if it wasn't for these little dependants of mine.
I've probably more chance of getting a job and a jeep over there anyway!
And driving on the right hand side was fine. . . as long as I keep going straight!!! lol! x

Imagine being an English teacher here. With your qualifications you'd be in such demand. Regardless, home is where we are happy :) x
