Silverlight is Microsoft's attempt to compete with Flash. Flash wins. Do you see Google making Video and YouTube players with silverlight? No. Why? NOTHING SUPPORTS IT. And for good reason. Flash works just fine, has been around longer, and is just more fun to use. Why doesn't someone just write a simple plugin to allow 3D games to run inside of firefox..? *lightbulb*

The fact that you need to ask this question underlines a huge problem with many of Microsoft's promotional videos: they show you a load of pointless, flashy graphics but don't tell you what the heck the product actually does!

Silverlight is actually a very good competitor to Adobe Flash. Many things about it are extremely nice, from a developer's perspective, and it has a lot of potential. Now, if only MS could market their plug-in instead of happy people and snowboards...

So, there is a possibility of success in its use.
