@jfacray182 the longer scale is so that you can tune the whole guitar down a whole step to D and in theory use the same gauge strings you would of on a 25.5" scale tuned to E

Awesome guitar, and very cool features...but I know I'd probably rip out those pickups and either put in a Crunch Lab/Liquidfire/some other DiMarzios or Bareknuckles. Ibanez stock pickups just don't cut the mustard, and it always makes me go ??? whenever they put their pickups in otherwise top-shelf guitar. :/ Awesome demo though!

@Goth3m3 That's funny because I actually prefer the sound of basswood to mahogany. mahogany sounds really good with medium gain but it gets mushy when you push the limits of your amp IMO. To each is own.

@Maxpound Really? I think people use those bass-y woods to freely. I'm partial to an ash body with ebony/maple fretboard. I like how the upper registers sound (Listen to the Jeff Loomis signature to know what I mean)

@Goth3m3 - That wouldn't be a very accurate comparison, given that the Loomis has active electronics. And you know the "bass" in basswood is pronounced like the bass fish, right? The name is not a reference to any particular enhanced low-frequency qualities of the wood, it's just the common North American name for the tree the wood comes from. To the contrary, Basswood's high and mid-frequency characteristics are why it's often chosen by luthiers for this type of guitar.

@lvo1306 That's ridiculous. The neck would not snap. First of all it's titanium reinforced, which makes the neck incredibly strong. Second, even if it were an all wood neck, it would not snap simply from tuning a whole step higher. At worst, it would have a little more relief than normal, and you might have some tuning issues from tension on the whammy bridge.

I love PGS demos just not when metal comes into play. Not every tone needs to be overly bassy that can only be used on lame chug-chug riffs. I know what these guitars can do and this demo shows none of them. Try some new amps or something because this just sounds awful. The tone is muddy.

Did any of you whining about 'not enough chunk" not enough highs/lows/ soul/ bright/ whatever... think that maybe.. just maybe..it's amp settings or the 1" speakers on your laptop? If the pickups are good - which they are - the guitar will sound fine with the right amplification. Scotty is a monster - great playing dude.

Love the look of the guitar a lot and the mids sound real crisp. The lead tone wasn't bright enough for my taste, but that just may have been You Tube rolling them off. Definitely an instrument I would want nonetheless just because it sounds and looks so ballsy.
