The sound/effects whatever that was weaved into his tone during the concert run sounded like shit. Definitely not "unprocessed" Brown Sound. But Eddie still has it... I saw him the very first night in Charlotte, NC. He was nailing riffs. He may have had more off days than on days on tour. The Tampa show wasn't as good. I don't know what motivates the guy... Out with the new line through Fender... He definitely doesn't need the $. Maybe he's shy and doesn't like touring so he turns to booze etc..

While I was out in Pasadena,CA, these last 5 years..there was this rocker dude,probbaly in his 40's who used to hang around the recyclin'centers...bummin' fer booze money...He was pretty familiar with Van Halen's history in the area....(Pasadena was their jumpin'off place)..an' he told me Eddie Van Halen had cancer from the cigarettes pretty much...since Eddie Van Halen hadn't made many public appearences in the early 2000's, I figured there might be a grain or two of truth to it...
Yes, he did have cancer of the tongue. Part of his tongue had been removed to control the disease. Eddie though wouldn't admit that his heavy smoking caused the cancer.

You're right. Not sure about the meth. I doubt he had a stroke. But I too can sense that something is not right with Eddie lately. It could be that a lot of rock stars go through a period in their life where they are at the very fucking rock bottom. It could just be that it's happening to Eddie later in his life and he'll eventually get out of it. I'm new agey so I visualize and send Eddie healing energy to EVH.
Let's hope it's not because he's getting old. I've seen great guitar players slow down and not play as perfect when they hit a certain age. Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Les Paul to name just three. They are still great though and I'd pay to see them. (Well, Les Paul is 90 something and you can really tell it in his guitar playing. He's really gone down hill playing wise but the man is still a legend.)

Regardless of who he is, what he was, and what he became, he has been and still is one of the most influential people in my life and I will always respect and owe him for making me who I am today and for the memory of who I was when I was young. The sound/effects whatever that was weaved into his tone during the concert run sounded like shit. Definitely not "unprocessed" Brown Sound. But Eddie still has it... I saw him the very first night in Charlotte, NC. He was nailing riffs. He may have had more off days than on days on tour. The Tampa show wasn't as good. I don't know what motivates the guy... Out with the new line through Fender... He definitely doesn't need the $. Maybe he's shy and doesn't like touring so he turns to booze etc..

he looks so old and there seems to be no more left of his fresh style of 1978. His timing has got lost a bit, but he still has his own charakter and no one can beat him, in that what he did.

While I was out in Pasadena,CA, these last 5 years..there was this rocker dude,probbaly in his 40's who used to hang around the recyclin'centers...bummin' fer booze money...He was pretty familiar with Van Halen's history in the area....(Pasadena was their jumpin'off place)..an' he told me Eddie Van Halen had cancer from the cigarettes pretty much...since Eddie Van Halen hadn't made many public appearences in the early 2000's, I figured there might be a grain or two of truth to it...

Yes, he did have cancer of the tongue. Part of his tongue had been removed to control the disease. Eddie though wouldn't admit that his heavy smoking caused the cancer.

I'd have to side with Eddie on that one to some degree...there's a big money involved here...an' it's hard to say he's jest bein' "paranoid"... the indutsry is so full of subversive elements tryin' ta take out the competition fer the "next" big deal...Cigarettes is the "obvious" blame but but there ain't nuthin' obvious about an' industry fueled by fantasy....an' MAKE- BELIEVE....Part of this is to make "white boy" look like "wasted weakling"..for todays Oba(uber)man's to appear strong.

You're right. Not sure about the meth. I doubt he had a stroke. But I too can sense that something is not right with Eddie lately. It could be that a lot of rock stars go through a period in their life where they are at the very fucking rock bottom. It could just be that it's happening to Eddie later in his life and he'll eventually get out of it. I'm new agey so I visualize and send Eddie healing energy to EVH.

Let's hope it's not because he's getting old. I've seen great guitar players slow down and not play as perfect when they hit a certain age. Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Les Paul to name just three. They are still great though and I'd pay to see them. (Well, Les Paul is 90 something and you can really tell it in his guitar playing. He's really gone down hill playing wise but the man is still a legend.)

Eddie is amazing and one of the worlds greatest guitar players in history but he was alos one of the biggest drug/alcohol users in Rock N' Roll history......and it really did start to effect his playing.....as is evident in this video.....it just doesn't sound like the real Eddie.....something in this is missing

Regardless of who he is, what he was, and what he became, he has been and still is one of the most influential people in my life and I will always respect and owe him for making me who I am today and for the memory of who I was when I was young. Van Halen represents my youth and my years as a carefree individual drinking with my friends and wishing I was Eddie. I love you Eddie, Dave, Al and Mike!!

If he just kept on playing "Eruption" the same way all the time, it would get really boring, and everyone would be sick of his solos. Thats what makes improvisations so interesting. Thats why to this day he rules, Thats why Jimmy Page rules, and Hendrix. Thats what makes guitarists so great

Guys! Learn about music for starters! Playing the songs exactly the way its suppose to be doesnt mke you a good musician. Its about being creative. "evh" and sometimes musicians mess up. i wanna see one of you play this olo exactly like eddie himeself. Ive heard half of you and you guys dont play eruption correctly at all. you all go by tabs and crap
