  • Look, it's Brian Fantana!!

  • The channel 9 logo looks like it was used at WFTV in Orlando sometime later...

  • The theme was used at WBRZ/Baton Rouge for "Eyewitness News" with Mike Collins and Carol Kloss in 1978.

  • @StukInBuf I found out that WGR, Channel 2 in Buffalo(before they added Z as part of their call tag) also used this theme in the mid or late 70s.

  • An ad for leisure suits. If that isn't the '70s for you, what is?

  • newschannel 9 sucks now with calvin happy news sneed.i like looking at allison chinchar. darrel patterson is all thats left on the news, don welch got his on show.bob johnson used to shop at a store i was a manager at and we'd say stay sexy san francisco to him like from anchorman.he was a big cut up and was always nice.

  • This could have been recored on a reel to reel video recorder. But you could buy vhs in 1972 but they were high dollar.

I own a few open reel units they will recored tv with a adapter. Just search reel to reel video recorder. .

  • The first VHS machines came out in 1977. In 1976 Beta tapes could only hold one hour, so I'm wondering how this got recorded- maybe there was a half-hour show at 10:30 and the tape ran after that? Most newscasts I have were recorded by accident- where the tape kept running after the show the VCR user really wanted to record and forgot to stop, then never taped over.

  • Love the Shop Rite jingle (I haven't heard that in years!) Thanks so much for posting this!

  • @tpledger These Shop Rites have nothing on Shop Rite in New York and much of the Northeast.

  • ..went thorugh an entire A block without a single crime story ... you will never see that today ...

  • What a trip to see all those 1977 model Fords all shiny and brand new in the showroom during that first piece! And the second piece is kinda fascinating. Something like 65% of all carpet was made in Dalton? Can you even find American-made carpet now?! I love old newscasts, thanks for preserving this one.

  • Dalton, all it will ever be good for is carpet. I hate living there.

  • @rustyshackleford01 mexicans

  • @rustyshackleford01 I have an uncle and aunt who lived in Dalton. They're in Houston, but want to live in Norcross or thereabouts.

  • I assume when he says the carpet business expanded to 2.5 million square feet that he means how much carpet they make annually - not the size of the carpet factory itself.

  • the "diseased economy" sounds like our economy 33 yrs later

  • re: the inflation story and 33 yrs later....it's almost like history has repeated itself
