  • how can anyone dislike this?

  • Very nice, lovely cinematography and music

  • beautiful. what is your camera set up on this piece? i own a canon 5d and i am looking to give that "grainy" color effect. suggestions? more ISO maybe?

  • heyyyyyyyyy nice i liked it

  • This is stunning, beautifully shot. The scene with the cars driving past in the background is breath taking.

  • Oh my god, that is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen - and yet so sad at the same time. Absolutely stunning! I think the music fits perfectly even if it isn't the original music you wanted.

  • Beautiful! My favorite part is when they cut from the church to the hillside with color change. I am trying to decided which editing software to buy. Can you do something similar with Final Cut Express? thanks, ~aubie

  • @aubie0071971 Thanks! Do you mean can you do the colour change in FCE?

  • @gbfilmproductions sorry, I am wondering if you can edit and get similar overall results with FCE, because I can't afford the Pro version yet. thanks~aubie you two should really turn this into a serious tragic romance story...with lots of surprises, I think it would be great. Keep the dialogue to a minimum and continue with the great cinematography. i.e. a secret, forbidden love. haha

  • @aubie0071971 Ohhh. You are aware that FCE is very similar to FCP?

  • @gbfilmproductions No, I am ignorant. Watching your wonderful short film about the girl with the silver acorn, I think I might have to save for the Canon 550d or 600d. The new one (600d) has a swivel LCD screen, so it might be worth the extra money. Keep up the great work, your videos are very beautiful! ~aubie

  • Long live canon 550d!

  • Fun! I liked it. I just did a series on 5D filmmaking. Cheers!

  • I get that this has an underlying theme of drug addiction. Story line not to my taste but enjoyed watching.

  • I love this video Georgia! :) Although the male actor scares me D:

  • So I watched this with 'Boy 1904' playing in another window, and yes it works very well! (The piece you found to replace it is ok, though.)

I disagree with the person who said it's a little boring because it's repetitive. To me, the repeats are part of the metaphor... Dependency is a cycle of repeated actions.

    Great concept and execution.

  • I work within the industry, so a few tips and pointers to help you. even though reading the description the story doesn't quiet match the video, there were a couple mistakes and i felt a little bored, you used some shots twice which is a little repetitive. in the field the girl in the foreground turns around facing the guy your focused on but in the other shots of walking she doesn't. so my advice is make sure you look through the footage before leaving location. but over all good first short.

  • @tristanmayer Thanks for your feedback- this isn't my first short though. I agree some parts may seem repetitive but I am pretty happy with the overall piece. Thanks for your thoughts though.

  • Wow! Absolutely brilliant Georgia! I've been watching your videos from the beggining but this is the best one yet! keep up the good work :)

  • camera in a church is blasphemy

  • @igbhd True... but it's an abandoned church

  • @igbhd how about church-based movie?

  • @igbhd I think shooting up in church is marginally more blasphemous than photography. :P

  • wow, that is breathtaking!:) I was totally glued to that for the entire duration. Considering you changed the music i still think it works amazingly well with it. Especially love the exit and entrances from the church. This makes my film school project look poor although i think music adds so much to films. Im really interested to see how you progress though university at the same time as i do:). Keep it up and the industry will be a walk in the park!

  • Great cinematography and idea. Even though you didn't want to use this music, I thought it still created a sombre atmosphere. Well done!

  • Nice where did you shoot?

  • i'm supposed to be doing homework but when I saw you made a video i had to watch it :) this is fantastic! one of the best films I've seen from you :) i love the story and the music (even though you had to change the music) and the editing is great

  • nice editing! good shots! and great locations =]

  • Not bad short.

Gotta I agree that the original music would have been better.

  • GREAT work georgia!! loved everything about this! the scenery the whole feel of it. awesome. but if i could make ONE suggestion. get a stedicam or a mono pod or something. it was a bit to shaky in some scenes. but still very good job hun :)

  • @ChaosConRad we used a flycam nano (steadicam) i think it's since exporting it that the quality between each frame isn't as smooth. Thanks.

  • @ChaosConRad Hey, only had the flycam nano for about a week when this was shot, so obviously it takes some getting used to and balancing needs to be perfect but it was very close to being perfectly balanced. Secondly you have to consider the terrain and weather, the design of this budget steadicam has its disadvantages, strong winds were constant throughout filming and unfortunately offset the balance of the steadicam rig!

  • @PaperTwinProductions hahaha chill out.

  • @ChaosConRad I am chilled man! :) Just explaining what may have caused the slight shakes!

  • @PaperTwinProductions its all good dude. it was still a fantastic video regardless. awesome job.

  • This is the most beautiful thing I have ever come across. I follow you on twitter, (twitter.com/kateconnerty) I'm actually going to MET film school, moving in August. This is brilliant and the cinematography is so powerful. What exactly is the location at 1:17-1:50? It's so beautiful. GREAT job and I love when you work with other film-makers at your university, so much hard work and effort is displayed as one can see. Fantastic job.

  • @katelynconnerty Thank you so much, that's really made my day! Good luck at Met Film School, you'll love it. The location is in the Yorkshire moors, we had to travel quite a long way to get there.

  • I don't get it

  • @applefreak711 Try reading the description :) - the man is a metaphor for a drug addiction. She relies on him, as he relies on her to survive, like a drug.

  • this is awesome!
