I love Miguel Cotto but I don't think he can beat Margarito. In terms of skill, defense Cotto is totally superior but Margarito is too big and too tough. Cotto would get stopped again. He was hitting Margarito with combo after combo, right on the chin, and Margarito kept running him down. There is not much more Cotto can do. No matter how much he outpunches Margarito and outclasses him he can't hurt the guy. I know of a similar substance that is very well known in Mexican gyms...It is applied as a liquid and gets increasingly harder with moisture until it almost has the same feel as cement.
Could this explain Margarito's often miraculous ability to cause greater damage in fights in the later rounds (and as the sweat hardened that illegal substance)?

yea i saw it. crazy stuff. i still stand by my pick though, it was a legit pick. if you look at boxing history the bigger guy usually wins. de la hoya-pacquiao was an exception.

I love Miguel Cotto but I don't think he can beat Margarito. In terms of skill, defense Cotto is totally superior but Margarito is too big and too tough. It sucks cause Cotto is the better fighter, and if they were the same size he'd beat Margarito pretty easily, but alas they are not :-( Got to give props to Margarito though the guy has a granite chin and a truckload of balls.

Cotto would get stopped again. He was hitting Margarito with combo after combo, right on the chin, and Margarito kept running him down. There is not much more Cotto can do. No matter how much he outpunches Margarito and outclasses him he can't hurt the guy. The only way Cotto could win is if he did a Mayweather/Whitaker and got on his bike for 12 rounds, but I don't think it is in Cotto's style/ physical structure to do that. He's a boxer/puncher who breaks people down, but Marg can't be broken

cotto still the greatest fighter out there. i give him alot of credit for fighting margarito. that takes guts!not even the retired undefeated champion floyd mayweather would step in the same ring with margarito because he knows his ass would be kicked.anyway there will be another rematch and cotto will win because this time he will throw more body shots and knock margartio's air out of his lungs that he wont have anymore oxygen to chase cotto around the ring.cant wait for the rematch.

if ppl r saying that miguel is still the best even though he chose to quit and showed little heart then y r ppl saying that hatton cant fight. he moved up a weight to a weight that he is uncomfortable at ffs look at the state of his fight with colazzo at weilterweight in the past he just about won and he was now put in a ring wif the p4p champ and lasted 10 rounds and was firced by ref joe cortez to box on the outside as the stupid wanker would not let ricky anywernear floyd so he cudnt bodyshot

I dont care what the outcome was, Miguel Cotto is still the best fighter in our time.When the rematch comes along Cotto will inevitably be more stronger, quicker, wiser, and most importantly much more defensive. There is not a doubt in my mind that he will knock margarito out this time. He has to much heart to let the situation stand this way.

how about you take a beating for 11 rounds while trying to outbox someone whos harder than a brick wall then you can talk, only a dumbass would like to see someone going till they die wouldn't you, when ones body can't take it anymore they can't take it anymore, besides if you watched the fight cotto even won many of the later rounds on points all margarito was is stamina and chin which cotto lacks, if you want to compare skill theres no business comparing the two.
