A finishing touch would be to make it wind-powered with a speed limiter (Watt Centrifugal Governor) - that would make it something that could be sold as garden furniture! I'm sure you'd like to make hundreds of them ;-)

Very nice machine. SUGGESTION : Paraffin Wax makes an excellent lubrication for wood. This would eliminate the squeak.

Yours is one of two marble machines that stimulated my interest in making one which is in its early infancy and consists of a few features on a test-bed. If I were a tree, this is how I would want myself to be used. Nice, really nice work. Love the chain lift and the fact it's hand powered. The small finger lift on the right looks pretty cool and I like how you kept the marble back until the arm is ready to pick it up.

I use steel. But wood is so much more soft and approachable. GREAT work.
