  • this is so freaking powerful.

  • How could anyone dislike this video?

  • Nothing to do with the seven deadly sins...there where 7 passagers in the limo and each one will miss Katie. "One'll love you so much" - "Two'll love you so much" and so on. Katie was also 7. Also its not so green as to Katie it's "oh Beautiful Supreme".

  • @eightbitturtle you're right except it's "BEAUTY supreme" not beautiful

  • This would've been a very good video. Except for the 7 deadly sins reference. Eventhough this was a horrific accident not all 7 deadly sins were a part of it. Also, I don't find the deadly sins to have anything to do with it other than the fact Katie was 7. Yes, some of the sins were a part of it but not all of it.

    Just my opinion though.

  • also, Jesse says "oh beauty supreme", no "so green"

  • I am literally sitting here, crying over my keyboard.

  • @RheanneSaysWTF Well...

  • what's with naming he seven-deadly-sins?

  • @psychonekroman When he counts to seven he's doing that because the child killed was seven years old. Not the seven-deadly-sins.

  • @sandzstorm28 that's not what i'm saying :P

in the video, for no clear reason, he's naming off the seven deadly sins...

  • some of you morons still wanna cry about ryan dunn?

  • I agree with the general sentiment of this video and the song is one of Brand New's best, but this is a bit cheesy isn't it? The seven deadly sins? Really? It's just all a bit crude.

  • 57 of you are self-righteous. Urmom, if a person is not sober then the person cannot fully comprehend or anticipate, the governor is gone. This means that you are not capable of understanding that other's lives are in your hands. This young man, Heidgen- he is dead too he just keeps breathing. His family has lost a son. This stuff happens all the time but there is no easy answer like you proclaim. You once walked home because you were intoxicated- good for you.

  • @specialkellify then don't drink irresponsibly and expect me to feel sorry for your stupid ass when you fuck up. If people aren't intelligent enough to make decisions while intoxicated they shouldn't get intoxicated. I decide to get hammered at a party and drive back. Who made the decision to drink? I don't care that I wasn't capable of making a logical decision while intoxicated. WHO decided to make the stupid fucking decision to render myself incapable? And you call us self-righteous? Moron.

  • @specialkellify then they shouldn't pick up the bottle if they can't control themselves once they get to that point. i agree it's not as easy as just giving it up or finding other options, but the guy deserves to be put away because his irresponsibility cost lives. whether his family will miss him or not.

  • sitting here sobbing. sux. thank you Brand New for giving this tragedy a voice. don't have words...just thanks.

  • Quite possibly one of the saddest things I will ever see in my life. Incredible what alcohol can do to people..

  • Fuck the drunk driver. What a piece of shit, it's sad that he made it out alive.

  • Comment removed

  • @deadlylillipops24Because 99% of the time the drunk driver kills the other people involve, not themselves. When you take the life of someone innocent, well why should you have the right to live when you've taken it from someone else?

  • I've got chills

  • I'm glad he was found guilty and charged. The guy who killed my brother was a politician's son, his blood was thrown out by the doctor who was friends with his father, the Judge was friends with his father as well. Said he was not at fault for it. Even though he drove across 3 lanes of traffic hit my brother's car which was pulled over to the side of the road to avoid getting hit and drove right over him crushing him, but he wasn't at fault. Gotta love our government

  • Where is the featured interview with Neil Flynn? I can't find it.

  • a couple days ago i was watching this and realized that katie and I were the same age when she died, i dont know why but it suprised me so much

  • @nr2237 why would that surpise you?

  • @hangsambo12 i dunno i mean i live all the way across the country from where it happened.

  • You edited this pretty well. Thanks for it.

  • I can't help but wonder about a few things. What was going on in the drunk driver's life over the past week before this happened. What was the girl's home life like? exactly how did her parents treat her behind closed doors? And if you believe in karma or god, what do you think these people on either side of the accident were doing with there lives that may have led to this occurence. I'm not calling anyone a bad guy here, nor am I defending anyone. I'm just saying have some perspective.

  • @ZachGABALDON The only perspective is that an innocent young girls life was taken at the hands of a someone who made an idiotic decision. How fucking dare you suggest that a 7 year old girl's demise was a deserved result of Karma?

  • @jesta182 I have no idea how people are influenced to think this way, but I'm glad you said something. @ZachGABALDON, her home life and how her parents treated her is irrelevant -as is your future imput. She was clearly happy, so your warped perspective does nothing but slate the poor child and her family. Have some respect.

  • @ZachGABALDON how can you even say that? regardless of whatever was happening to the drunk driver in his life that makes no excuse, no one cares about him being drunk, its the fact that he decided to drive like that. and the chances that this girl was abused or whatever are tiny, and even if she was does that mean its good that she died? a child died and whatever the circumstances her family still have to live with the grief and she still misses out on life

  • how did the driver survive

  • @uhohjenniferr The drunk driver lived, but the limousine driver didn't, if that's what you meant.

  • @uhohjenniferr When you're intoxicated you are less aware. When you get into an accident you typically aren't ready for it. So if you're three times over the legal limit you're pretty well intoxicated. If you're sober and are about to get into an accident what do you do? You tense up and that causes more damage to your body. So being drunk saved his life, but took the life of two others.

  • fuckin sad

  • I find myself watching this video over and over. this is amazing.

  • This video was so touching. I almost cried.

  • This is one of the best YouTube videos I've ever seen.

  • the part where he starts counting for every year that she lived is the part that gets me every time.

  • I like this song and I knew what it was about. putting the pictures and videos of the actual event in this made me tear up. its so sad what happened to her. :(

  • sad video it made me cry. ppl r so stupid they think they can go and get in a car drunk and think they arent gonna hurt somone! :(

  • This is one of my favorite Brand New songs, I knew the story behind it and it was sad, but watching this made me cry. Great video.

  • I hope he rots in hell is all i'm saying...

    Love the song though.

  • uhh the lyrics aren't "so green" it's "hey beauty supreme"

  • @slowlearner402 to bad its You're so free you fucking tard

  • I just lost my third friend to a drunk driver a few weeks ago. There is NEVER an excuse to drink and drive. No matter what kind of "emergency" may occur, you can always find a designated driver. To those of you saying "give the guy a break", you obviously have never lost someone to something that could have been prevented to easily.

  • Everybody makes stupid mistakes throughout their lives. Many that are on par with what this guy did (drinking while intoxicated), but many of those people are fortunate enough not to have anything this disastrous result from them. Give the guy a break, he's already going to suffer plenty for the rest of his life living with the memory what he did to that poor girl and her family.

  • @eli9090999

There's no room to "give this guy a break".

What if it was your little girl? Would you be saying it then?

He was drunk, and he was driving. Then he killed a little girl.

He brought it upon himself, there is no room to "give him a break".

There's just no room for it.

It could have been prevented way too easily in more ways than you could count.

  • @AngelNicholson I'm sorry I do not have any kids of my own so i cannot even comprehend the pain the parents felt on this situation. I do agree it was a situation that could have been avoided. What he did was stupid, and i believe that he should go to jail for it. The first 2 sentences of my last comment still stand however. AlsoThis issue has been dealt with already and insulting a guy who is already going to suffer for the rest of his life already will only bring on more useless hate and anger.

  • @eli9090999

The first two sentences of your comment do still stand, but they don't really make a difference.

Yes the hate and insults are useless, but the hurt and stupidity of what he did isn't going to go away by calming down, either. What he did is always going to be there.

If it makes people feel better to say these things about him, you should probably just let it be.

If the hate just disappears, this guy may not stay in jail.

  • @AngelNicholson Hate, or lack of care in this situation, is what brought on the wreck and murder in the first place.

If that guy gave a crap about people then he would not have gotten behind the wheel or have gotten dangerously drunk in the first place.

With that said, how does responding to hate with more hate help the situation at all? Sure the hate of the insults from people are MUCH lesser, but does that still make it right?

There are much more healthy ways to handle bad situations.

  • @eli9090999 YES EVERYBODY MAKES MISTAKES! BUT HE RUINED A LOT OF PPLS LIVES! THERE IS NO ROOM TO "GIVE THIS GUY A BREAK" HE IS A GREEDY PERSON! HE DIDNT HAV THE RIGHT TO GET IN THE CAR AND KILL THIS LITTLE GIRL! DRUNK OR NOT!

  • @Msfreakazoid2 What the guy did was selfish, uncaring, avoidable, HATEFUL and very tragic. With that said, what good does spreading hate over a situation already full of hate accomplish? IT JUST MAKES THE SITUATION WORSE. Like I said before, this guys hate is what caused the accident. Why spread that hate with useless insults that only cause to fuel the hate in your own heart. That doesn't do you any good, it just gives you more negative baggage to carry around and affects how you treat others.

  • he should fucking die

  • This guy recently tried to appeal. He was unsuccessful and will continue to serve his 18-life sentence.

  • as horrible as the tragedy was and the song is beautiful, I couldn't help but just LOL at 2:39. That face is just so.....I dunno. I know he's sad but like I just find that expression he has humourous. Ah well, beautifully done though

  • that was the sadest story i had heard. im against drunk driving and its very irresponsible how they get behind the wheel if you're going to get drunk walk home or call at taxi at least or if you have a friend make sure they don't get drunk so they can drive you home.

  • katie went to my old school and now they made a memorial playground to her. im sure shes smilin about it wherever she is!

  • i thought he was counting to her age... witch was seven....

  • @deadlylollipops24 This is false. He is serving 18 to life. He didnt die.

  • @deadlylollipops24 Didn't die, went on trial, in jail

  • @fegs248 i didnt know that i thought he died, but whatever, if ur goin down the freeway the opposite wayy u had a death wish, poor little kay, this song is soo great tho, great vid fegs248 me n my boys think this is the best video of the event

  • @deadlylollipops24 way to go all out looking foolish. Get off your box, you had no business up there to begin with.

  • @deadlylollipops24

1: the drunk driver didn't die

2: who gives a shit about him? because of HIS acts, a family is destroyed and a little girl is DEAD.

3: ur right. he doesnt deserve to die because he needs to live EVERYDAY with the memory of that night and his actions haunting him

  • @deadlylollipops24 didn't see him in the video? didn't see how his SUV's front isn't totally trashed? didn't see how he destroyed the limousine? didn't see how he destroyed 2 person's life? their's and their relatives'... if someone was to die that night it was him, he made a choice, he chose to drink and drive.

  • @deadlylollipops24 he didn't die. they show him in the fucking video.

  • @anonymousman555 Where?

  • i miss you so much Katie Marie <3 it hurts losing a best friend, keep watching over us. See you up there baby girl i miss you <3

  • that fucker should go to hell

  • omfg.... no comment.

  • This song is and has been amazing since the day it came out. The emotion in Jesse's voice is so powerful. I can't imagine losing a child or a loved one at all much less at the irresponsibility of someone else. The words that Katie's dad spoke sent chills over my entire body.

  • Talk about hitting home.

  • whao how emotional

  • This song really captures the emotion of that terrible event. I remember when it happened too when I lived on Long Island. It was on the Meadowbrook Parkway. Really sad and it shouldn't have happened.

  • this was actually really good. but one thing- at 2: 26 the lyrics are actually, 'Beauty Supreme.'

  • @person71591 wake up. its called life. buy the CD if you don't like the videos you find on youtube

  • @nanerboat

Wake up. its called commenting, not "only positive constructive things to say".

If you don't like what I have to say too bad. You're not the comment police who has to reply to 9 month old comments. Get a life.

I bought the CD(derp herp de derp), I was looking for the music video. If I was looking to solely listen to audio I wouldn't come to a video based site.

  • @person71591 what the f*** did you think you were going to find when looking for a song like this? and are you really trying to defend your comment after saying something as ignorant as that? get a life man

  • @RK71191

    LMAO

Here, since you seem to be so confused ill copy and paste the exact thing I wrote earlier "I was looking for the music video."

So since I was looking for the music video hmm I dunno maybe I was expecting to find the music video? The lyrics are too vague to know that this is what the song it about.

Its funny. I log in every few weeks, and I go to your page to see that you are constantly writing comments/replys every day. Maybe you should work on getting a life for you first, bro

  • @person71591 lol if you look i only comment when i see a comment that really needs it.. and that doesnt happen often. like twice a year.

  • @person71591 lol if you look i only comment when i see a comment that really needs it.. and that doesnt happen often. like twice a year. if you have a problem with me send it in a message. not on this video

  • @RK71191

ROFL I like how u wrote2 separate comments that lack an actual response to my main point. Not to mention you feel the need to lie on your commenting activity

Youve made 10+ comments in the past few days alone.Your comments are public dumb ass. LOL

If you have any thing relevant to my comment regarding the video then respond instead of making yourself look like a fool by lying about how often you comment on youtube, and completely ignoring my main response to your original comment. xD

  • The song is meaningful and everything, but don't you think making this video is a little obsessive and gruesome and creepy? I mean it's a very very very sad thing that happened, and the intentions were good, but still... we must learn the lesson and move on.

  • this song was written about this accident.....ppl move on and do the same thing, ppl still die, nothing will change....

  • @desertfox45row Hmm... DUI Manslaughter / Vehicular Homicide is a 5 -15 year sentence so your "friend" getting 5 months is a little unlikely; unlikely even if she wasn't drunk seeing as Vehicular Manslaughter is about a 5 month - 1 year sentence.

  • @pageseventyfive i agree. my heart goes out to this family,

  • Fuck that mother fucker, I don't care that he was drunk, I've been drunk before, and I mean really drunk and I never got behind the driver's seat. I even walked home once cause of it. So no one has no mother-fucking excuse to not drink and drive when they know sober or not that other people's lives are in their hands. Sorry for the language but this really hits home.

  • I agree.

Drink all you fucking want, but don't you dare get behind the driver's seat.

Whether or not you care about the lives of others, think about your own... He coulda died too. that bitch is just lucky. :/

  • He's unlucky, now he has to live with what he did. One of my friends was driving drunk with some of our other friends a few months ago and flipped the car and killed one of our friends... now she hates herself for what she did and is in jail for the next 5 months.

  • @urmom2008 couldnt have put it better myself

  • @urmom2008wat happened to that little girl is fuckin horrible! tha man deserves nothing but a life sentence in jail u r right urmom2008! this is horrible!! >:'(

  • @urmom2008 I say death sentence to any mother fucker who drinks and drives and get someone killed.

  • Great video and great song. I remember seeing Mr. and Mrs. Flynn on Oprah and being struck by how consumed with anger they are. Neither one of them appeared able to get out of the anger, almost to the point of not caring how it affects their other living children. I don't know. I guess who of us can say how we would react in such a horrible situation. I just feel badly for the other children.

  • I am sure the family has heard this song. I just wonder what their reaction to it was. I wonder if the band contacted them prior to recording it?

This song is phenomenal. Out of this world, even.

And, something on this video,I really liked how the picture of the jury came up at the "in the choir" part.

  • Maybe the band new the family so the incident was close to them too. Who knows, but they had to have gotten consent before they recorded it

  • I'm pretty sure they've said in an interview that none of them personally knew the family; and I dont think they'd legally have to get permission. No actual names are mentioned in the song.

  • very powerful song/video..RIP Katie

  • people should never drink & drive. there is no reason why this beautiful innocent little girl had to die that night. none. as for that guy, he should be fucking decapitated with a fucking ax.

  • Comment removed

  • its hard to watch

  • Great idea for a video. Only criticism is that it doesn't say "so green," it's actually "beauty supreme." Other than that good job.

  • In the acoustic versions it's "beauty supreme." In the album version, it's "so green." The lyric listings will all contradict what I say, but they are two separate lyrics.

  • no it isn't . . he just pronounces it beauty sopreme so that it fits in better with the song

  • FYI this is actually who the song was written about, he tells the story in concert sometimes, RIP

  • great video, very moving

    Lacey is a genius

  • the scariest fuckin thing i have ever seen

  • great, wish you would lower the video clip volume and make it mesh a little better, but I enjoyed it

  • excellent stuff

  • welll donee, i had goosebumps most of the time
