  • Poor Sound Quality

  • go on just throttle her up and pull back on the stick! We wont tell anyone ; )...

  • I've always thought this was a uniquely strange and beautiful airplane. Thanks for the post.

  • i saw the nose section at hendon last week, lovely old plane smell inside!

  • how i wish that the pilot had puled back the stick....

  • This aircraft actually flew, just a few weeks ago, by mistake!

During the fast taxi run a communication misunderstanding between the Captain and First Officer meant the latter didn't kill the throttles when he should, and the thing got airborne! Only a few hundred yards but, 3rd May 2009. The last ever flight of a Victor?

Damn shame we can't have one back in the air again alongside the Vulcan!!!!

  • thanks for sharing this anyone out there capture theevent on sunday 3rd may 2009 at bruntingthorpe and prepared to share it with us all on u-tube? cheers drifter

  • Don't share it!, if you do it could put an end to events like this.

Is that you want, cause that's what'll happen.

  • I guess we just aren't that vulgar.

  • Cause it would be shit

  • cause it would be shit

  • For this to be taxi-able, - it would mean that most of its systems are working..

therefore, how much more would be needed to allow this to be fully air-worthy...

I'm sure the pilots racing this down the runway are soooooo tempted to pull back on the stick!!! - It bet it WOULD fly too - Certification or not!

  • If you had been at Bruntingthorpe today you would have witnessed just that (for a few seconds at least). Not sure why it happened but it stunned the crowd into complete silence.

  • Yeah - I was there. Just waiting for someone to put it on You tube. Bloody shame. They could close the day down. Had passangers on board too!! The pilot needs a word.

  • If it went airbourne for a moment ... bloody fantastic ... f*ck the rules!

    Victor forever!!!

  • @xoio it did by accident in 2009!

  • We were years ahead.

  • that>aircraft>owns>that>aircraft>owns>that>aircraft>owns>that>aircraft>owns>that>aircraft>owns

  • Worked on this airframe. Oooh Victors. Certainly were ahead of their time. Really top aircraft.

  • It's been a long time since I last saw XL231. It's a real shame they wont let it fly with XH558 (Vulcan). The guy that owns XL231 is called Andre. I know him personally!

  • Victor, Canberra, Meteor, Hunter. British jewelry. Comet 4 or French Caravelle. The first jet planes were beautiful. It hurts me to see them in the aeronautical cemeteries. I would like that they all yet were flying.

  • Captain Nemo flew this plane

  • Whats the point, it aint going to take off.....

  • But it's the closest it's going to get to taking off and it's better than just watching it sitting there.

  • This plane looks like one of those weird, deep sea or prehistoric fishes. I love it.

  • When you look a the superb B-2 now, you realise that for their day, just how advanced the Vulcan and Victor Bombers where.

  • Awesome bomber! Victor to the Sky, now!

  • That must be the most menacing,and "other-worldly" A/C in aviation Hx.Wow!

  • I've got to say, I don't really know that much about planes, but i've been at Bruntingthorpe countless times. And I think this is one Mean looking plane!

  • in the blood, Britain aircraft type!

  • My father was crew chief on one of these back in the mid sixties, flew all over the world in one, the proudest time of his life. As a boy I used to watch, from our garden on camp, scores of these lining up to take off at Marham. It was the first plane I ever stepped inside. Brilliant

  • This was probably the best bomber of its time, it was faster and could carry a higher bombload than the Vulcan, but it was more expensive to run and the wings fatigued as you flew it more, so each one only had a limited flying time. And hell, they are ugly!

  • not ugly, beutiful. i worked on these at Woodford

  • Hehe, cool, I bet they were amazing machines in their day, no other country has anything which could rival it.

  • ugly duckling compared with the other two, but i still love it.

  • This is the Best Strategic bomber and tanker ever, especially the B.Mk2. Better than the Vickers Valiant, Avro Vulcan,Tupulev-Tu 95 and the Boeing B47 stratojet.

  • it would be great to see one flying again

  • I got a joyride in one of these once, years ago "when I were a lad",riding in the sixth seat on a refueling sortie.

  • Fantastic!

  • Yes it is!
