Played this my freshmen year in Wind Ensemble. One of our french horn player shad the most hilarious dog bark. Everything that is epic about band is in this piece.
Interesting comments. I particularly enjoy how you bash the piece (and performance??) and then proceed to ask what the score calls for. Ignorance is bliss, eh?
were're playing it, and stuff written everywhere for people to make different noises! It awesome and actually more fun than bach again and again (not that im dissing bach!)
Our wind ensemble at Indiana Wesleyan Univ. is doing this piece this year, and we looked at it for the first time today and could not stop laughing! Even our director was having a hard time keeping it straight! I hope we do some crazy things like costumes or a slideshow for this when we perform it.
You will have a hell of a time with this piece. The Provincial Honour Band that I performed this with loved it so much! I love it too, and I'm really hoping that my school band will play it as well!
Got to play this recently, I love this piece sooo much. Too bad we didn't get to get dressed up Elvi or a slideshow or anything like that (but hey, had two clarinets tango at least).
Seconding the comment about the nice touch with the inflatable Godzilla. That looks so cool.
Oak Grove High School's Wind Ensemble played this piece in spring of 2007 and the exact same video/slideshow was used in their performance. How did ASU get the slideshow???
It came from your band director. He was very cool about letting us use it. As you can tell, we eliminated a few of the Godzilla slides to make room for our cute little inflatable one.
Okay, where the hell did you find a giant inflatable Godzilla?

Eric Whitacre is so stinkin cool. He actually wrote a song for our wind symphony at SLU.
We did this song too. Our percussionists actually dressed up as the Elvis Army.
