  • @ya11and11what

a lot of dryland mushers recommend teaching basic sledding commands before going out on a diggler or bike (and make sure you have the leash or gangline set up so it doesnt tangle!). some key words like "on-by" (ignore the cat and keep going), and "gee/haw" right/left, can save a lot of hassle. and any dog can do this, check out the video of the poodles, google "urban mushing poodles"

  • Nice dogs, am about to get a malamute and live in top end WA, I know it gets warm on the sunny coast, how does your malamute go with the heat?

  • @alycekeys Hey! and Thanks. A Malamute will be fine..we just make sure we only walk/run her when its cool like early morning or evening..Their Coat does keep them warm, but it is dual layered and helps to keep them cool when its hot too..But DO NOT Shave them.. the hair will grow back twice as thick.then it becomes uncomfortable for the dog...also wetting them stops the coat from working and makes them hotter too...they like to wet their feet when they are hot...but thats it...hope that helps :)

  • Hey was wondering the breeds? I have a 8mo malamute/husky mix here in FL. Have been trying to train him to pull me on my longboard but like you said, wondering is a pain in the ass haha.

    Chels.

  • @Mookattacks Hey! Layla (the grey one) is an Alaskan Malamute purebred.. But Jett actually came from the pound, we know he is Belgian Shepherd but he is crossed with something else...noone has been able to tell us what exactly.. All I know is he is a freak with mountains of energy and if they dont get to go running one day for some reason he will jump our 6 foot fence with ease and go on his own run....Thanks for watching

  • I have a bike do you think i could do this with a bike and a rottweiler. I know she needs lots of running and shes still just 3 months old and i want to get her use to it fast. I did it with my last dog but she was way older do you know any tips that will help me on training her to walk with the bike ride?

  • @ya11and11what hey...thanks for watching....i found the best way to teach them was just to go out and do it...keeping them on the path is the hardest thing, if she strays from the path stop straight away..wait for her to take a step back onto the path and sit, then go again....it will be really annoying for a while but it will be worth it....of course distractions will happen.. I still have to ditch the Board sometimes when they stray..but they get better the older they get...hope that helps :)

  • whats the song? and love your dogs by the way!! :D

  • @mook2u Hey thanks!

The song is by a local band from here on the Sunny coast...they have a pretty big following here but are otherwise unknown and unsigned... The are called 'The MAP Project' and the song is called 'Antz' They have a few vids posted on youtube and also have an album for sale on itunes and if you really wanted a hard copy i could organise it for you...thanks for watching

  • I used to do that with my dogs when I was a kid now I use rollerblades instead. It gets quite fast. Do you use voice commands to turn corners or do they just follow the direction you turn?

  • @robincrosscarpenter Hey..yeh does get fast...as you see in the vid we do 25km/h and thats nowhere near full speed..Dunno about rollerblades tho..seems like it would be hard to stop..i like the skatie cos ditching the board is always an option...as for voice commands..I am working on that...we normally go the same way so now they know where to turn...i have taught them to swap sides when needed and can get them to go from road to path... but left and right is hard. Thanks for the comment!

  • beautiful to see dogs getting to be so free! :)

I wish I could skate board (maybe I had a cheap one as a child, but I tried the whole dog pull me on a skate board, and the wheels would jam on the slightest pebble and flip me into the side walk)

  • @kikopup haha... Yeh I am afraid that this particular activity is not without it's risks...whenever there is another dog or sometimes cats that my 2 cannot resist trying to catch, it can get hairy..sticks and stones on the path are always a worry...have had about 4 falls in the time (About 12 months) that I have been doing this... But it is great fun and exercise for the dogs..And of course I enjoy it too :) Thanks for the Comment! :)

  • Not sure about the sex/sexy tags Dean :p
