    Hope it helps

  • how do i make it seeing the words only from the inside? Like wedding rings, can you please help me?

  • @maze311

I will post a video in my channel . You have to select the plygons and drag the materials to them. That will give you a red triangle next to the Cylinder. It's a "Polygon Selection Tag".

  • When i put my cylinder under hypernubs, everything is normal. But if i select that isoparms thing and CTRL+A,little spikes grow up from my ring. What did i do wrong?

  • for the alpha channel on the text, what how do you get cinema 4d to key out the white instead of black?

  • You have to click on "Invert"

  • oh, thankyou

  • It works THX

  • "and then you put on the aaa..aanystrophy, what ever the hell that is, it makes it look metal" haha, great tutorial, ima motion graphics student and we just started with c4d, so this help me out gettin a firmer grip on the basics, thanks

  • Ok when i come to Extrude, i cant get it to look so smooth and "real", mine is sharp and not correct. How do i do that? when i extrude?

  • ive got the same problem.. any ideas.

  • sry for the double post..

@simsee: the cylinder must be UNDER the Hypernurb (top-left)..

  • Make sure that you give the cylinder about 80 subdivisions. Then make sure it is under the hypernurbs. Then extrude and check "create Caps"

  • No no no no you dont even have to do that. 80 subdivisions AND a hypenurbs is WAY too many polygons even for a detailed model of the ring. Its somethnig to do with the smoothing groups, its harder to find in Cinema 4D than in other 3d programs but it is there . its an option which must be enabled, i think tis a shading property i dont use cinema much but il ltry to find out. Ill upload a video of my ring i did in 3ds max in a few moments.

You are making this way too complicated.

In Cinema 4D if you are worried about Polygon count:

Start with a Tube. Take it to its minimum Height until you cant take it down anymore. Then you put a check mark on Fillet. Adjust the Inner Radius to your liking. Then make it editable and go to your SCALE TOOL and scale it up pn the Y axis.

Now your ring is about 1,000 or so Polygons instead of 5,000.

This tutorial is about how to deal with Hypernurbs, extrude and textures.

  • It's a very good tutorial so please don't take offense by what I just said! But for an object such as a ring you generally simply dont need so many polygons; so the over complication lies with your method. But you did a very good job and it's clea ra lot of people do appreciate it, Hell I do too because I have to use cinema 4D in uni and i can't stand it hehe

  • The best you'll get is about 1,000 some Polys with a TUBE as I showed. The mesh in Cinema is a mess. If you look at my Maya one you can almost count the Ploys on the ring. Anyway, ib this case it doesn't really matter since there's only 1 object. Reason here is to get people to use Extrude with Caps and Hypernurbs. To be honest, the whole Hyperurbs thing is a mess.

  • Make editable and put it "hide pernebs?" how do i do that?

  • haha no i cant believe it, problem solved with the stripes ive set High sigtments to 1, then i got the stripes. haha im to stupid

  • Hello again, read my other comment first. Can all see my problem? Im very new to Cinema 4d, im using Maxon Cinema 4d r9. Ive only worked with Cinema in 2 hours or so. Sorry for my english to. But if you have a answer please write it so i can read it. Not all thoose special words :). Thank you Carlos for putting my grafik life into a new level! bye all and thank you.

  • Hello everybody - nice tutorial. But i got a problem, my cylinder have not "stripes" like carlos's, mine got squares / boxes all over the body, and when i put Rotation Sigments to "8" like he said, then my "ring" look more like a triangle. I think because i dont got the stripes on the cylinder (again i have tini boxes), then when i go CTRL + A, and click Make Editable then extrute, my ring wont fit, or look smooth i only controle how "fat" the ring will be, not it wont look edge/rim.

  • very nice video man... loved the way you made this tutorial so "to the point..

  • how to make it edit able ? :/

  • Top left icon, or press the letter C.

  • Nice Vid. I'm really fascinated in all the digital making of things on computer. Do you have any suggestions on some software to pratice on. Except of course the Cinema 3D. I'm interested in making figures move around and do motions. Thanks, Nice Tutorial by the way.
