You all have to understand that a precedent was created years before, during the real guns and roses years: once, a bottle of Jack thrown by an asshole in the audience hit Duff on his head during a live performance, he got wounded and even fainted, the show was sharply ended and the crew had to carry him to the hospital.
I think this incident is an element that you can't avoid to take in consideration while considering Axl's behaviour.

He RUINED the song for the ENTIRE audience because some douchebag near the front row apparently threw a lighter @ him like 'gbCOWI3OY' says. I don't see any reference to that, but even so, the security was going after him.
PLAY the rest of the song and then deal w/ ranting about the situation. Just move across to the other side of the stage!

Well, to be fair, Axl said that the reason he doesn't tolerate people throwing stuff is because he said he doesn't want his concerts to become a riot and get out of hand to the point where innocent audience members could get hurt. So the intention behind it is nice, but...ironically enough, that very attitude started two riots (one in Montreal and one in St. Louis).
