What the banker will do with the offer is this...

If you take the amounts 500,000 and 1,000,000

He will put the offer at about 600,000 which is close to in between but far away from the middle at the same time. This way the banker can keep as much money as possible without giving away too much either.

with those 3 cases the mean is $583k. If the 750 opens the mean drops to 500k and if the million opens it drops to 375k. that means that there is a 2/3 chance the offer will drop. the banker does not raise the offer when the mean drops that much.
