It is indeed the approach transitioning from the LGA VOR, crossing Manhattan, vectored down the Hudson and back up the East. That's how flights inbound from the north do it.
There is an 'Expressway Visual Approach RWY 31 LGA' that starts at DIALS intersection and follows the long Island Expressway east to abeam Shea Stadium, where it turns left over the Home Depot and down to RWY 31. I think the video is the river visual 13, not sure though. BTW, DIALS is over a bunch of white oil tanks visible for miles.
I get it, the video stops before they get to DIALS. I usually (always) come up from the south. I'd like to see it from DIALS on in - it's probablt my favorite visual approach.
:-D Hong Kong just has a bunch of flashy skyscrapers by the water, and they hide all the ugly cookie-cutter apartment buildings behind them. It's a mirage. Meanwhile New York has those endless canyons of concrete and steel from every era of the skyscraper. No skyline beats New York's.

Where is the Expressway Visual? Did you run out of the tape before start the visual approach?

Yes. I had another right down to the landing but some record company pulled it for copyright issues. Babies.

Why is this called 'Expressway Visual Approach RWY 31 LGA?" that approach looks nothing like that. Nice video, though.

You're the man! I was looking for a video to use to show my fellow skyscraper fanatics that NYC has a superior skyline to that of Hong Kong's.
Thanks!
