Wow ... this is so mediocre. Boring, bland, unimaginative, lifeless. These should be renamed Studies on Wasting Time. The Philip Glass of his day (although Glass has written some pretty fine things).
@EMPERORMIKI I'm am extremely picky with music and it is very pleasing to me. And I have no idea who Glass is but I know what it is but I'm too lazy looking up both. At the moment.
@MrPaevo You don't need to force yourself to like sth you don't like! I didn't need to force myself neither: I adore Mendelssohn's music naturally! You shouldln't try to force yourself...
This is fantastic!! I can play 104b no 1 but I would love to learn this! I would appreciate if anyone could listen to my videos and comment on it! Cheers!
This is a lovely piece of music.... I love it so much and I am trying to learn this, would appreciate if anyone could listen to my youtube video on this and provide comments. Cheers!
Mendelssohn: why is his piano music performed ? He was a genius. ? The symphonies,vn. concerto the 2 pino concerti(so much of their period but full of charm) ,the dramatic music.so much greatness then you come to the not very impressive variations (everyone plays these :why I do not know! )and pf sonatas. Well,I guess it means I need to study him cuz the piano music seems 2nd rate. The etudes and preludes& fugues (I actually learned the e minor one)? must remember him with Schumann&Chopin ?
@Frozentoes1 im sorry can you do better? horowitz always said that he could play things perfectly but not with emotion but i mean to me that was near perfect
People just can't get away from Mendelssohn's Songs without Words! That's their impression of him, but once they've heard this composition by him, they'll change their mind! Great composition, by the way!
This is very similar to the spinning song

kinda sounds like alkan

@mkeysou812 Mendelssohn was one of Alkan's biggest influences.

Anyone else expecting the video accompanying this, to be Harold Lloyd to be scaling a clock face or a Bonnie and Clyde car chase?
Nah, me neither...

Wow, Horowitz's ending is actually much better than the original. Yet another piece that Horowitz ruins for any other pianist.

This feels like a mix between Chopin's Etude op. 25 no. 4 and op. 25 no. 9

This comment has received too many negative votes show
mushy playing, too much pedal, not enough control on the articulation.
This is crap.

"with his hands" would be more appropriate. Don't don't forget with his right foot as well.

Horowitz was incredible, it sounds like he's playing octaves when he's playing single notes.
