I think this is a most beautiful song to be sung at a funeral, it was played and my mother in laws funeral and also at my dad`s. I will leave instructions that I want this and Going Home when I leave the earth.
I wonder how much Diana's family actually got to be involved with William and Harry after Diana passed? They seem like great men now and hopefully aren't as out of touch as their Dad.
i am only 20 yrs old....i was 7 or 8 wen she died and i didnt think anything of it.....but if i lost my mum around that age or a lil bit older like those boys i wouldnt know how to feel...omg
The royal family is disrespective of alot of thing's. I don't think Earl is. She told her brother alot about her life. She kept it al in. Think of her compassion to Charles who used her. She had no choice....the royal's made sure of that. R.I.P. Diana.
Of course it was - they had ostracized Diana and when this country needed them most they ran away and hid; it was absolutely ages before the Queen addressed her nation, and even longer before they came out to mee tthe thousands who had gathered round the palace, who just wanted to show the family their love. I think the Monarchy has since recovered but this has to have been one of their darkest days. Earl Spencer merely expressed the anger that everyone felt.
@szqsk8 It had to be said. This speech and the circumstances surrounding those sad days, forced the Royal family to re-evaluate itself and its role in the modern world.
Living in the USA at the time a friend and I watched the live taping staying up all night and crying our eyes out for a woman we never met. It was more touching still when it was said that so many flowers were bought for her by the english population that the flowers were all but exhausted in flower business. Amazing.
The choir sang this majestic song very well, the members were both professional and informal and sang with zest and zeal, the conductor was just as simple, without any pompous vain actions. The ending of the song was purely heavenly with the descant descending from heaven itself. Truly wonderful for Diana's life . Franklin Samraj- Spicer, Pune India.
The Choir consists of some 30 boys (all of whom attend the Abbeys dedicated residential Choir School in the precincts) and 12 professional adult singers known as Lay Vicars.
THANK YOU so much to who posted this video. The Prayer of St. Francis has always been most most passionate, and I have never heard anyone before or since sing it with such beauty as the cathedral choir.
@tribecatom Do you work for the media? how did you manage to cover the entire ceremony? god bless you for this unique gift you have shared with the whole word.
It seemed like the choir soared up into the heavens and the chorus was so beautiful, I remember it to this day. The Prayer of St. Francis I now have close to my bible. I will always remember Diana's funeral service and how choked up I felt, like everyone else around the world.
Tribe I agree with the you that he attacked the media and rightly so. However to say that he attacked the royal family is a stretch at the least. He Just was continuing The princess's wanting to show, that there was more to life than duty and the royal family.
r u serious?? u think its a strech that he attacked the royals??
"I pledge that we, your blood family, will do all we can to continue the imaginative way in which you were steering these two exceptional young men so that their souls are not simply immersed by duty and tradition but can sing openly as you planned."
wouldnt say it was an attack, seemed more like an assertive way of stating that dianas ambition to have her children living a somewhat "normal" life will not be forgotten and her family will do all they can to ensure that they can lead such a life. Could be taken both ways i guess...i'd like to think he wasn't attacking at a time when all feuds should be put aside.
Sebastian Temple was deeply touched to hear this rendition of his translation of the prayer of St. Francis. He died in Arizona less than 4 months later. He was a good man who embodied the words of this song.
May the sweet memories of The Late Princess of Wales,Diana, the real Queen in our hearts, lives on forever in our lives.
May her beautiful memories be the light that shines forward to each and everyone that she has touched in her lifetime of selfless giving and act of unconditional Love.
Thank you very much for uploading this video,I love it.
I remember hearing this Beautiful rendition to my favorite Religious song! I tear up whenever I listen to it. Thanks for posting this!

I have always loved this hymn but have only ever heard it sung at Catholic services. Definitely a good hymn to have included in this service.

Also:
'She proved in the last year, she needed no royal title to continue her particular brand of magic'.
True, but still an open attack on the Royal Family. Rightly so.
