  • don't stop brotha! keep going! im groovin to your guitar in Starbucks. hahah, love it brother!

  • Can I use 2 Intruments on POD FARM at the same time?

  • What its better, this or a Behringer Mixer with USB OUT? I need like 7-10 mic inputs for drums. What you recommend me?

  • Hey dude, I need to know what that rack is called, please respond as soon as possible :)

  • WOW! I'm ordering it tomorrow! It's at $230.

  • hey all!! anyone can help me out with choosing an interface i found Line 6 Toneport UX 8 and M-Audio FastTrack Ultra 8R they look similar to me. Witch one u recommend? thank u!!

  • @turkusista well you get POD Farm Platinum with the UX8 which sealed the deal for me. It's like a trillion pounds (or dollars whatever) worth of amps and effects and stuff. It's badass.

  • I have read that latency sucks on this Item? personally I preffer firewire stuff because of the zero latency. Have someone try it??? At least for me its imposible to record with latency I get loss...

  • @hlmm80 One of the great things that I've found with this is because it has in-line monitoring I have had absolutely zero latency with either this one or the UX2 I owned before it. My computer has enough horsepower though that I can set the latency to it's lowest setting. It might depend on how powerful your computer is.

  • hey i have this and i love it!! but one thing i cant figure out for some reason.. lol is how to get the second headphone jack to work?? hahah i can only get the first one to work.. did anyone else have this problem? or just me? =P

  • @danmarcelino The first headphone jack is set to monitor I/O 1 and 2, while the second headphone jack is set to monitor I/O 3 and 4. If you set your DAW to send the audio out to 3 and 4 then the second jack will work.

  • @BadlyBentPub hmm, alright i tried doing that once and it worked im pretty sure, but do you have any idea how to get them to both work at the same time?? thanks for your help btw! =]

  • THANKS THATS A GOOD DEMONSTRATION, IM GONNA GET ONE

  • does this work with cubase 5? or do you suggest something else?

  • Can anyone tell me what software he is using and when he opens up the window to add the delay and reverb what software is that? I'm don't have much experience recording.

  • @Sramder2 Hi mate,

It's called Line 6 GearBox software. It comes with the Line 6 hardware. It's basically one of their selling points and it's a great piece of software

  • @intheblues Is Gearbox better than Pod Farm?

  • can this be used as a professional soundcard for production?

  • @AshtonHogan It will give you excellent results. Would it be as good as a 20,000$ interface? Probably not, but it's done a great job for me.

  • im having problems with my ux8, i got it to record and everything, but it cuts out every second its like every other second is playing, like a dvd skipping, thats what the audio's like, also when i plug in my headphone its way worse, same with guitars, im recording with drum mics into my macbook through the ux8 using logic, help please i dont know what to do, is there some bit rate or setting i need to fix?

  • @chiodos82 probably your sound card, standard audio input jacks usually don't cut it for recording

  • @chiodos82 You probably have either your inputs set too high, or your buffer size is way to high....

  • did you record that micing your amp? or can you connect directly into the toneport?

  • @poison806 I used my amp then used the toneport to add the effects. I think it was a Delta Blues Amp but I can't really remember sorry.

  • is this good for recording drums?

  • @chiodos82 yes, its great for drums, if u have the right room, mics and placement (like most of the key ingredients ;) )

  • Hey Shane, I Appreciate Your Help With The Video! I Still Have A Couple Of Questions For You Though. What Recording Program Are You Specifically Using In This Video? I Just Purchased The Toneport UX8 And I Did Everything You Showed On This Video, And I Was Able To Get Every Mic (5) To Record At The Same Time, But For Whatever Reason, They Were All Recorded Into 1 Track... I Think It's Because Of The Software I'm Using, But I'd Like To Be Sure Of That Before Deciding It.

    Thanks In Advance!

  • hi, im currently saving for more inputs interface than i previously had and I came across this toneport. I think it has great features for the price. Do you like the pres of this unit? Do you still have it? thanks for info.

  • hey are the preamps on this interface better than the ones on ur old ux2?

  • did this come with the USB 2.0 cable? if so how long is it

  • @Stifledsubmission about 1-2 meters

  • Thank you i just ordered one and i plan to have this in a rack right under my computer desk, 2 meters should e plenty of length.

  • the chasis is made of metal right?

  • hey mate, i was wondering if you've ever recorded a drum kit with this? if so, how did it work out good?

Im seriously considering buying one... i also will want to plug synths in to it..

  • Hey mate, Im looking into buying one of these and was wondering, if you have ever recorded a drum kit with it?

If so, did it do a good job?

Ever plugged a synth into it?

  • Hey Please could you tell me what PC your using ? Cheers

  • I'm buying the Line6 Pod X3 Pro and the UX8 Because i try not to rely on my sound card to process my effects because they sound crap! But personally it will sound better anyway.

And its going to be on the same rack ;)

  • will this work with logic? garageband?

  • @crazystev3

I did not post this video, but if you goto Line 6's website and goto the official UX8 page, it lists a few popular recording apps it will work with. I think Garageband was one of them.

  • @crazystev3

    Yep sure does ;)

  • Will the UX8 and Pod Farm Work With Cool Edit Pro?...Please Answer...Thanks

  • yes i use adobe audition which is the newer cool edit pro.

  • It's not a tutorial, where does it say that?

  • Hmm what kind of equipment at the same line? And how to get this record?

  • Hey I was thinking of getting a UX8, I was wondering how big it is/heavy, could I carry it about? I have a UX1 atm.

Also - we have a 4 person band, wanting to all record digitally using line-in, does Gearbox support multiple line-input, so like the 4 at the same time?

    Thanks! :D

  • Good to hear another Aussie tellin' it like it is. This video has made the choice much easier for me. Thankyou!

  • excellent! :) Thanks for the nice comments.

  • so man im looking at recording stuff right now bor my band and i was wondering this is there gear

    1.toneport ux8

    2.protools 8 digidisign

    3.jbl lsr 2325p 5" bi-amplified powered studio monitor's

    4. 3 adix i5 for micing cab's

    5. mxl v69 condenser mic

    6. audix fusion 7 peice mic kit

    7. mogiami gold neglex quad mic caBLE'S

    8. and maby a behringer EURODESKsx2442fx mixer

what do u think about this set up for a new starting band that can aford this and how would i set this up..plz replay thx

  • Im not sure what the adix i5 mics are like but the rest of the stuff sounds great. Just a tip, gold tipped cables are the biggest waste of money in the world ;) They make no difference to anything unless you have gold plated connectors on your interface/mixer. Save your money there. Digidesign make good stuff you should be happy with that unit. 2442 mixers are great, I have one of those.

  • the audix i5 is like a cleaner version of the shure sm 57 well the mixer has gold inputs if u havent seen or they do now but yea and thx for the help and i was hoping digidesign was good

  • @vampreen12356 i understand you will have a problem running pro tools with toneport ux8. protools from what i know is designed to work with pro tools hardware. try cubase or logic(if you have a mac)

  • does this come with pod farm platinum

  • Hey, you know the rack, what it is called? not the specific rack but what do i search for when i want to buy one, if you ge tme

  • so with this you can hook it up the computer and record and make your own soundtrack?

  • Yes. Sounds like shit though. (in my opinion)

  • fair enough, thats the beauty of the internet ;)

  • not the internet, youtube makes everything sounds like shit:)

  • I don't mean the playing, I mean playing through an amp sounds bad.

  • Can you still play it through a amp?

  • yeah i guess i never thought of that :)

  • what are your computer specs? i really want this but im not too sure about my comp being able to run it

  • 3.0ghz Core 2 Duo

I had it working fine on an older AMD x2 or something cant remember exactly the specs

  • hy! i have a question. Do u assign gearbox in the track plug ins? How'd u do it anyways? i have UX2, both gearbox and podfarm. thnx mate

  • UX2 can't do VST plugins to my knowledge

  • would it be good to use line 6 ux8 with pod farm for drums vocal and guitar?... with editing drums with EZdrummer... is cakewalk better then garageband?

  • I don't know those programs - I use Adobe Audition for PC. Garage band is entry level stuff for Mac, I know that much ;)

  • well thanks anyway

  • Adobe Audition for PC 3.0 kicks ass

  • On a Mac, Logic or Soundtrack Pro 2 are the professional audio programs. But I am sure there are others and Garageband is alright.

  • sorry to bother you what was the green thing on the bottem of your rack you said like a joe mink or something any way

  • joe meek twin q preamp = awesome :)

  • can i just plug in my amp and use a prog like cubase to record??? please answearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • I think you mean plug in your guitar and yes, it's a soundcard so thats exactly what you can do :)

If you did mean amp, I have no idea..You can mic your amp up and record, that's the normal way to go about it.

  • thnx because i want to record with a tube amp, i dont like the modeling amps. so Toneport ux8 can work just as a simple sound card or audio interface???

  • Yes, this is primarily what it is a 8 XLR/Line input sound card.

  • Sorry for the extra questions. Can you use a DI box and then reamp your guitars, if you didn't like the amp models and wanted to use real amps? Again, more trouble but I am not a big fan of models. The effects sound great but the amp models aren't my favs. My biggest question is the low latency without using firewire. I guess it must monitor straight off the toneport interface. Are the Master Outs on the back what you use for your monitor outs? Sorry again for all the questions.

  • You can simply record dry or use a DI box to do the same thing then use the models to amp up the signal, yes.

  • How is there very low latency with a USB 2.0 input? Do the monitors come directly off the UX8 before it goes to the computer or after the signal goes in. Don't most monitors get the signal after, and therefore the latency? I don't know a lot about recording as you can guess, but I am trying to learn. Also, can you run say protools with it, if you had a Digidesign interface and go SPDIF between the two, then firewire into the computer. I know that kind of defeats the purpose, but just wondering.

  • Line 6 uses what they call tone direct monitoring, which basically means all the processing is done directly in the sound driver, and then get sent out to the monitors through the Toneport. Still though, latency is usually around 14ms, at least with my UX1

  • what kind of recording software are you using? i like how you can open gearbox within the software..i always had to open gearbox seperatly and have it minimized while i record..then again i hvae a ux1, but im thinking of updating to a ux8 to record drums..let me know

  • Gear box runs in a seperate program that works in conjunction with the line you select to record with on the software u record with. I use adobe audition 3

  • I'm glad to ear that coz I'm interested in the UX8! Are they similar to Behringer or better like Joe meek, presonus etc... Just to know! But what leave me perplex is on the line 6 site, for all yhe UX series, when you want to listen (sound) they are all recorded with the Toneport UX1!!! That says that they are all the same! Its not clear. That is Y I asked you! :) Thanks!

  • Hey M8! I like your vids there cool!

    But something is weird here...

You say in another video that the Toneport UX2

preamps are not that great & you plug your mic into a Behringer mixer?? Then go into the line in of the UX2. I get this! But why did you buy the Toneport UX8? It's they are the same preamps as the UX2!! Is there a difference between the two? Thanks!

  • UX2 Preamps are not the same as the UX8. Compare a studio condenser mic with both and you should notice an output difference

  • You could run the line 6 output into your amp but you probably need a second sound card to mic the amp up and get the signal back into the PC. The UX8 in my guess has better tones than the modelling amps, you'll get a better recorded sound most probably.

  • I'm going to buy a UX8, but i have some questions...Can I join my amp ( Flextone III ) to UX8 ?.....It's very important to me, that I could play with Gearbox sounds through my amp..Is that possible ??...The sounds from Gearbox library is get out of the loudspeakers, headphones or amp ? PLEASE ANSWER AS FASTER AS YOU CAN IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO ME !!!

  • Not sure to be honest :(
