  • this was the last song my real dad ever danced with me to.

  • Brings tears to my eyes! <3

  • 13 years ago i found out that i have illness and there is no cure for my illness. And this song was playing in the radio. Every time i hear this song it brings back the tears and this moment when doctor tell me there my life will change.

  • Such a great song. Saw them in concert in Toronto with front row seats and when they played this song it brought Tears to my eyes. so beautiful.. miss the 90s music..

  • Heard this song on the radio on the way home from work today, brought back some good memories.

  • grew up way too fast, now theres nothing to believe and reruns all become our history

one of the classic lyrics of modern rock.

  • @threelias I thought he sung "we're on top of common history" instead of "reruns all become our history". But by listening closer I heard you're right. Thanks for clarify :)

  • This was my parents song. It's hard to listen to it now, since they've divorced.

  • @madisradorable whatever God does has a hidden benefit in it..

hold onto this belief only n you will go through the tough tymes of life

  • why are the vocals so low? Dont suppose theres anyway to increase the volume?

  • deceitful people from Ireland and claim to be from Buffalo

  • Aah how I love this song. Everytime I listen to it I become dazzled by its presence. There is something so real and innocent I feel when I hear this song, like I'm transported back to my childhood. Are you a truth seeker? If you are, you must check out this Truth Contest. • ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SONGS...NEVER MADE ME CRY BEFORE UNTILL MY DAD PASSED AWAY..WHEN HE SAYS "I THINK ABOUT YOU ALL THE TIME...I ALWAYS SHED A TEAR...MISS THE 90'S. THATS WHEN MUSIC WAS REAL.

  • love this song

  • 1;46 i swear to god that girl is wearing converses and it was in 1995 :D and i havent even bought a pair yet

  • Johnny Resnick...his name...

  • nostalgia..

  • Everything these guys do is just an epic win.

  • 70 broke a string trying to play this song.

  • @Chrisgodoflard How can you break a string with this song? lol Its not exactly Iron Maiden.

  • @aaron9099 Look at the tuning for the song.

  • @Chrisgodoflard Ooohh yeah, I dodged a bullet with that lol

  • @aaron9099 If you try to tune up to most of the Goo Goo Dolls' hit songs, you will break the G string or the B string every time from too much tension

  • Omg that ginger lady looks like my best friend's Gran!!!! :o

  • 70 Haters.

  • love them !

  • ANGELA GRIFFITHS

  • This song takes me back to my best days of college...........Nostalgia... LIKE A BOSS!!

  • like if you have thought about checking the views after you have viewed it, to see if it actually goes up one when your done but you forget every time!

  • the 69 people that hit the dislike button must not know what good music is!

  • Paul Westerberg wished he'd wrote this.

  • "69" dislikes!!

  • Hopes, ambitions, dreams............and life; In my opinion the song captures the challenges and hurdles that many people face day to day when they reflect on their childhood dreams and where their adult life has taken them .Simply put this song is awesome !!

  • the 90's was the last era where we had a good amount of freedom, and America was not sold out by the government, conspiring with the special interests and corporations[banks] who sold us out, and are taking it all away. The music was a reflection of the strength, individuality and character we all felt we had...the music will return when we all get back to who we are ~!

  • @drthrottle but your wrong about one thing the banks were just as greedy

  • @423musicfan Agreed, my lengthy sentence may have made my sentence seem contrary..the government is constantly killing the smaller banks, who might want to actually serve the community, to leave us with very few, "too big to fail" banks, that are consuming the wealth of the people they should be serving, along with the gov.

  • @drthrottle yeah yeah whatever

  • @drthrottle

Excellent post. However, when do you think that will be (when the music returns and getting back to who we are)?

  • @andrewbrigg1978

    After the revolution. hahaha

  • best googoo dolls song in my opinion

  • From me to you, wherever you are. "I won't tell no one your name" You're my best friend in the whole world and I'm so in love with you. We both know this....I don't know where home is. We can find out together.

  • my favorite song. :) i'm 16 and i want to live the life of the 90's too bad i wasn't able to

  • @kenotness

it was awesome...I was born in 90...i miss the days when music was still music and people wrote songs because they were inspired instead of buying them from someone else to make a profit. kudos for listening to this....kudos lol

  • One Of The Best Music I've ever Heard......

  • Even though the moment passed me by, I still can't turn away.

  • This song is what got me through most of my depression. I love it. So much.

  • this is probably the worst song to listen to when you're in love with a girl

  • I don´t like the music from the ´90. also, i don´t like this music and I don´t really enjoy this band. But this is not crap, it´s just a good pop music from the ´90.

  • @revolverr Pop? Not really..

  • This is the song that saved goo Goo Dolls. A DJ in San Diego started spinning this track innocently and it caught fire and took off across the US. Without this song, they would have disappeared into the annuls of music because no one was playing their album.

  • why do people butcher their songs? by cutting out bits and pieces what did they save? maybe 15 or 20 seconds? it must have been the record company or mtv or some shit.

  • This Is The Type Of Band You Never Forget, And No Matter How Hadr You Try, You Cant Not Like Their Music ;o

  • "Scars are soveniers you never lose, the past is never far..."

Every Child of the Secret knows what that means.

  • Just one word ANGELS find me.

  • I've always preferred the "New version" of Name. Still absolutely beautiful though. FUCKING adore the Goo Goo Dolls.

  • That's very lucky! There's a 90s station on Sirius radio too. It's awesome. They tend to play a lot of the hip hop and boy band pop too, but they switch it up quite a bit. I think it's just whatever they feel like playing. Haha

  • yes it is..the 90's is the best rock era ever next to the 60's,70's and 80's

  • Hey guys I have a cover I just did of this song. Let me know what you think

  • love this thanks for sharing, a very underplayed band

  • you guys are simply the best

  • I wish my "like" button would multiply 1000 times

  • @topgun767 it can. be patient. start clicking.

  • a great period in time from 95' to 97'

  • why do i want someone who sees me as nothing but a nerdy weirdo??? all i want someday is to find someone who loves me. personally im feeling like it will never happen. :/

  • @maddiesart10 you aren't alone, there are many people in worse situations who are going through the same thing you are...your time will come and when it comes, it will be great.

  • @maddiesart10 Don't worry just focus on your life. Go to school or work, or both, and don't get yourself down thinking about relationships because love will find you.

  • and just saying this was mainstream in the 90s lol if you think about it...

  • ADRIAN VERDU

    ADRIAN WALLACE

    ADRIAN HARDY

    ADRIAN HAN

    HALLE BERRY

    BRAD PITT

    LACEY TURNER

  • this is REAL music

  • That break at the end is still just fkn AWESOME isn't it??? :) yeah it is....

  • "reruns all become our history" love this song

  • @randal775 thought it was 'mirrors' for the longest time....

mirrors all become our history......sorta works tho doesn't it???....but reruns is better:)

  • goo goo dolls suck for not posting the video for naked!!!!!

  • ALMOST as good as Iris :)

  • @MultiDudles I dont know how to react to that statement, its 50-50 for me music wise.

  • @facelessnophantom They're both awesome songs...We'll just leave it there :P

  • @MultiDudles agreed

  • what a beautiful song !!

  • I like their old song better! but don't know the name of it.

  • I love the line "dont it make you sad to know that life is more than who we are."

  • @aquizzicalcat I fully agree! Yes ...how many REALLY listen to the words!!

  • BOOK SEIKO 50metres STAINLESS STEEL YOUR NAME

  • The 90s, best music era ever!

  • @iseeteardrops Its certainly up there..and it waaaay beats the 00's....

  • @iseeteardrops 90's better than late 60's, 70's, and 80's? Lol, no way. 90's was the LAST of the good music era but not the best.

  • Goo goo dolls are the reason why I'm still alive...the only thing that I want, in this sad moment forme, is only One goo goo doll's concert...

    peace,love and Goo

    _italy_

  • I love the way this song makes me feel, I'm not sure if its nostalgia but I really do miss the 90's and even though I like some of today's stuff, most of it feels hollow and lacking... Well at least I got to experience it :D

  • 66 people must be deaf.

  • Great band, but I'll never forgive the singer for saying he hates Led Zeppelin

  • @centerforce2 wow, and now neither shall I. shame, he seemed like a cool guy.

  • @centerforce2 I like him more now cause Zeppelin sucks

  • @AlmarWinfield You wish Zeppelin sucked, then he wouldn't look like such a dick for saying it.

  • @centerforce2 Rzeznik didn't say that. He likes Led Zeppelin.

  • @centerforce2 He hates Zeppelin??! Like what Beavis and Butthead would say.. What a dumbass. Ah huh huh huh.

  • @centerforce2 WHATT?????? He really said that?? No Shit? wow, i just lost a little bit of respect for somebody!

  • @centerforce2 so what? we can't like all the music...i like ggd and i like zeppelin too. rzeznik has the right to like any band he wants to just like everyone of us.. u people often forget everyone is different

  • will always remember this song because it made me love music all those years ago..;)

  • I have different feelings about this song and its meaning every time I come back to it. I used to think it was about the inevitability of death and how everything is temporary over a long enough time line. The futility of existence. Now I get a more positive vibe from it. The lyrics are so vague and yet personal at the same time. Everybody can get something completely different from it.

  • @turfturbo thats good, I listen to mainly metal and really depressing shit, but i interpret this in a really sad kinda way

  • favorite song ever

  • 240p.. We meet again..

  • i'm lookin at the first couple pages of the comment thread and this is one of the few videos where no1 is arguing constantly.. thats so awesome to see but i guess this song is so good and relaxing how can u have a negative thought

  • If I had to pick one song to take with me into eternity, if I was forced to choose, this is the one for me. It was 1995, I just entered into recovery, and this beautiful song entered into my heart where it will remain forever.

  • @SuperWingman69 TOTALLY agree this is about recovery!!!

  • i'm so happy for this band. i can't believe how different they sounded in the beginning, and this is the song that truly made them the band they are today. if this song was never written, then none of us could have ever experienced "the goo goo dolls" in their true form. it's amazing, and words cannot describe how much i love this song. my favorite band forever!<3

  • I guess you were right Cheri

  • I was living in the Middle East at the time listening to a Lebanese radio station when they came out with Iris they used to play the song constantly and I loved it but I never caught the name of the band until one day I was listening to a radio station broadcasting from London they were counting down the top ten hits and this song was number 1 you could imagine my response I was in SHOCK I couldn't believe it they announced they were from Buffalo N.Y. that was an amazing unforgettable moment

  • @mnljh711986 Love your story : )

  • I remember when I was in highschool I used to have a friend her name was Cheri she used to always ask me if I wanted to go with her to see the Goo Goo Dolls perform back when they were a local band in Buffalo ,my response was" who would want to see a wannabe local band when they will never amount to anything" it was so funny when I finally found out they made it BIG

  • lovely no one does it like u

  • I remember when this first came out and was new, FUCK I'M GETTING OLD. : )

  • @3KOBAIN so do i but im not old!!!! this came out in what? 93? i was 20!!!!!! we aint that old bro.........AT LEAST NOT YET!!! PEACE!!!

  • @ozzyhead73 .... I believe it was 1995 when "A Boy Named Goo" and this song was released.

  • lyrics are genious X0

  • "scars are souvenirs you never lose, past is never far"

  • @gutterflower85 fav line...always cuts right to my heart

  • @gutterflower85 That is one of my favorite lyrics ever because it resonates with me so much. I have a lot of scars. While I may regret some of the things I did to get them, they are a part of me and a tangible link to who I used to be.

  • Great!!!I miss those days, those good songs

  • one of the coolest songs around to chill to

  • one of the best, yet underrated songs of all time. lyrics are poetry.

  • i love

    go go dols

  • long live the 90's!

  • I get lost everytime i hear this song.

  • never had i heard a song that could match the level of this kind... how i wish some people would compose something that's filled with sense

  • 240p....we meet again

  • This is what good music is about, being able to overcome your feelings of blues by simply closing your eyes and listening.

  • I love love this song

  • one of the most relaxing songs, just take a deep breath and sit back

  • This is the best song of the Goo Goo Dolls. Their songs are so unique and powerful. Everytime I think about the mid 90s, this is the song I remember.

  • This is part of why the world is so chaotic now, because we have lost the love and honesty we used to have back in those days, and the days before. Songs like this have helped me inch by inch to get mine back, and I pray it does the same for everyone else.

God bless you Goo Goo Dolls, your songs are emotionally strong and life altering.

  • 0:04 is that the same death spiral martin siegrist rode?

  • Download the audio from this song at thetunify doht cohm.

  • Hey i like the Goo Goo Dolls too but, go to.... Name- Goo Goo Dolls(Cover by Mark Boutilier)!! He Blows the the dolls right out of their house for real!!!

  • @XIICRANKIIX nope i heard his version its just too far from how the goo goo dolls sang this they are way better than him

  • my ma dated the lead singer before they got famous and dumped him because he was ugly back then. smh ma we could be rich. lol jk :P

  • it's about his parents. they died when he was 16

  • we dont have good music like this anymore

  • @MrPetiepuss Yeah, I miss the good old days.

  • @MrPetiepuss so true!

  • @MrPetiepuss u obv havent heard the new j cole cd

  • @MrPetiepuss actually... there is a ton of this music out there, but we don't get to hear it because of ridiculous marketing by record companies. Everyone has to have a gimmick or sound exactly like everything else on the "radio". For me, Youtube has actually become my favorite outlet for music, as anyone can post their material, not just those who've sold their soul and given up on their true sound for some record company's idea of what is "hot right now"

  • @MrPetiepuss Yeah!! I want a time machine..

  • @MrPetiepuss There may not be good mainstream music anymore, but the good news is that we all have ipods and computers, and therefore, we don't NEED to listen to the crap on the radio. It gives us a lot more freedom than you realize. We may not be in the 90s anymore, but take notice of the fact that we're able to watch this music video anyway. :) Life is good! Enjoy the music that you love!

  • @ampedup455 Exactly. And there are still good bands. they are just harder to find.

  • @turfturbo Definitely! :) There's a lot of great music out there.

  • Comment removed

  • @ampedup455 You are SO right!! I have GOOD music on my computer: Metallica, Ozzy, Michael Jackson, Tiesto, Maná, Foo Fighters, Goo Goo Dolls, Madonna, Soundgarden, Joe Jackson, The Beatles, Miguel Bosé, Enrique Iglesias, Van Halen, Gin Blossoms, Mozart, George Acosta, Oakenfold, Danzig, M.A. Solís Foster the People, Bob Marley, The Hollies, Megadeth, Lady Ga Ga, Satriani, John Williams, CCR, TOOL, Run DMC, Earth, Wind and Fire, Social Distortion and COUNTLESS other GREAT musicians and bands!!!!

  • @quetzalel Yesss! There is so much awesome music in the world. :)

  • @ampedup455

Luckily, a local radio station does play a ton of 90s stuff. Oasis, everlast, goo goo dolls, Live, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. But you have a great point.

  • THIS SONG CAME OUT AT A VERY DIFFICULT TIME IN MY LIFE WHEN I WAS AROUND 16 OR SO..... AND IT HAS HELPED ME OUT SO MANY TIMES TO STOP AND REMEMBER THESE LYRICS.... THEY JUST ALWAYS STILL CALM ME AND SEEM TO PUT IT ALL IN PERSPECTIVE AND TAKE ME BACK TO TIMES WHEN ALL YOU NEEDED WAS A GOOD SONG AND A FEW GOOD FRIENDS :)

  • I love love this song

It reminds me that I'm not alone

  • I'm a writer, and really Goo Goo Dolls are one of the very few mainstream bands that I really think write poetry to music. Their lyrics are absolutely wonderful.
