How to Run a Program off of a Flash Drive or iPod

i have downloaded and it works, but i cant use nay of the programs on my school computer because it just blocks it and says : "windows cannot open this program because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy. "

can someone tell me how to by pass this please.

@SuperATVkid i dont know a way to pass it but the tech team at my school added a block to usb ports to prevent students from putting viruses on computers connected to the network.. i never tryed this but most school computers have a yellowish cord atattched to them.. remove the cord then try?if that dont work idk but.. my school also blocked use of the whole C drive so we cant access any programs but the ones on the desktop.. :/

@tdm15mn You would not be able to run programs coded for PC on iOS (apple ipod touch operating system), no. However, if you format your ipod touch to act as a flash drive you should be able to run firefox on a computer from your drive (itouch)

@WQuackbar You can run ANY program off of a flash drive, no "conversion" needed. You know how when you install a program (on pc), it says it'll install in c:\...\program files ? Just change that to your flash drive's directory and it'll install, im pretty sure. The only thing these "portable apps" do is reduce the space needed to run the program.

can you download swf opener or another program to play flash games to a flash drive?

Yes. You can use any program and install it on your flash drive....it's just that these programs are smaller in size so it doesn't take up your flash drive's space. Just go to swf opener's website, and download it. However, when installing it, make sure to specify the install directory (instead of C:\Program Files\swf opener) to some folder on your flash drive. i would greatly appreciate help. my school has trend micro officescan somethin or other. when i try to run a program off my flash drive a window pops up and says "unauthorized access detected, officescan has detected unauthorized access to devices connected to your computer." how would i bypass this without it being completely obvious to an admin or teacher? thanks in advance.

It seems like this officescan product you speak of is made by trend micro, which in that case, it would be rather difficult to bypass, without deleting everything on that flash drive (including this officescan plugin). You can get an extremely cheap flash drive for yourself, 2gb for about 10 dollars or less.

Sorry, but I did not intend for anyone to go to sites using the portable firefox for the pupose of playing games...but instead downloading programs or files necessary for schoolwork. Therefore, It's your fault that you were playing flash games.

Use a youtube movie downloader; they will download flash games as well. The .swf file you can copy right onto your flash drive you don't need to use portableapps. You might need a SWF player, though. Look through the website for games, there are plenty.

You know there is way to enable those providing you can access the bios, and if that's password protect there are tricks around that interested in how to enable the usb ports at your school? I promise you the only thing you will need is a screw driver.

only windows xp and up can read flash drives with out a driver. you are probably running an older version of windows at your school. just download the driver and then it should work! google is your friend
