Hi frice007. The organist is Jane Parker-Smith. A legend in her own lifetime (in my opinion) This was recorded some 20 years ago and published on a budget album entitled "Music for Weddings". Probably not available now, although she has a website with recordings for sale. You could try that.
maurice lifts the heart and soul of everyone that listens to him no matter what he plays, huge drama, feel, attack of notes --hard or soft and the best vibrato ever and most of all timing!
Beautifully played and recorded. The balance between trumpet and organ is perfect. And all prior comments notwithstanding, M. Andre's sound on the picc trumpet is superb, and should be considered the model for that instrument. Some of his pupils (i.e., Guy Touvron) come close, and you can immediately tell they have studied with Andre. May he live forever.
he said that wynton marsalis would get the best trumpet player of the world... but he was wrong wynton is nothing against maurice ... he is the unbeated heroe and will stay as an unbeatable...
he plays with that amazing sound which will never ever produced by a trumpet player ...
maurice andre is an incredible trumpet player!! absolutely great! the organ incorporates the dark barque kind of feel. maurice andre is thee trumpet master of all time. long live maurice andre!!!!
The master Maurice Andre for many years now the best classical trumpet player of all time. He once said that with great dedication Wynton Marsalis might become the greatest trumpet player- of all time.
@barliman2001 INDEED...It was written by Italian composer Remo Giazotto in 1945 and published by Ricordi in 1958. One wonders why he never wanted the due recognition for this marvelous piece of music.
@pope0331 I love this piece and Andre's interpretation. I did a program on this recording at my Rotary club years ago and tried to research the music. I understand Giazotto recreated the music from a fragment of Albinoni's from the 1600's. Do you know how much of the original score was extant and how much Giazotto had to recreate? Is Giazotto still living?
@countryvicsmith According to my research, Giazzoto (who died in 1998) affirmed that he had just made an arrangement, but the truth is that he composed totally the piece. The excerpt that he used was only six measures of a basso continuo that was supposed to be the second mov. of a trio sonata. Other famous composer that did the same thing (embarrased to acknowledge his talent) was Fritz Kreisler
The best "celebre adagio" version so far. The song was written as a funeral celebration. Who would not want this particular performance by Maurice Andre to be their home going celebration, just before entering paradise...

It's not from Albinoni. It's from Remo Giazotto. He fraudulously attributed this to Albinoni.

The Adagio - the best piece Albinoni never wrote. It's now proved that someone else wrote it - much later - and just borrowed Albinoni's name.
It's a grand piece, nevertheless.
