  • This is one of the finest recordings Maurice Andre made.Hauntingly beautiful, great dynamic,a world class performance of a demanding piece.

    Nobody does it better.

  • I heard Maurice Andre Play in Troy Music hall. He did an encore of a medieval piece, no orchestra. It was stunning. I don't think there is anyone in the world who has better tone. He is just awesome. - Allan Alexander

  • @hostroute can you give us the source of this interview? Like to read it. thx

  • @saturnined Its on his web site maurice dash andre dot com ""My beloved recording is the Adagio of Albinoni with organist Jane Parker-Smith." There are quotes from him throughout the site.

  • Absolutely brilliant. Power, tone, expression.... amazing.

  • Maurice Andre -The master!

  • What a great trumpetplayer he is! I get goosebumps.

  • To Axolo 1991. I'm so sorry. A good friend of mine told me that he had passed away. I actually met him once back in 77 at a community college concert in the LA area. I stand corrected....JT

  • Whoever disliked this was probably deaf!

  • Simply brilliant

  • i want hear that music until i die, if i eternal then i will enjoy an eternal of incredible and wonderful n beautiful music. "all i got if some one give this great pleasure"

  • Hi frice007. The organist is Jane Parker-Smith. A legend in her own lifetime (in my opinion) This was recorded some 20 years ago and published on a budget album entitled "Music for Weddings". Probably not available now, although she has a website with recordings for sale. You could try that.

  • @jameskinmond1980 Disk available on musidisk Richesse classique no:30 rc 769

  • @jameskinmond1980 You can find this piece in the album "Maurice André - Music for Trumpet", 2 CD EMI Gemini, 2005.

  • Very beautifully played mister mr. Andrè and mr. Bilgram! Thank you for posting!

  • chord change at 3:25 is amazing!

  • Beautiful.!Bravo!

  • jadore

  • He has the most beautiful trumpet tone I have ever heard.

  • maurice lifts the heart and soul of everyone that listens to him no matter what he plays, huge drama, feel, attack of notes --hard or soft and the best vibrato ever and most of all timing!

  • Beautifully played and recorded. The balance between trumpet and organ is perfect. And all prior comments notwithstanding, M. Andre's sound on the picc trumpet is superb, and should be considered the model for that instrument. Some of his pupils (i.e., Guy Touvron) come close, and you can immediately tell they have studied with Andre. May he live forever.

  • bellissima...

  • I believe the organist to be Jane Parker-Smith. 2 geniuses together. Wonderful stuff. Gary xxx

  • The best brass player of the history!!!!

  • Bravura sbalorditiva, ineguagliata da nessun altro trombettista!

  • he said that wynton marsalis would get the best trumpet player of the world... but he was wrong wynton is nothing against maurice ... he is the unbeated heroe and will stay as an unbeatable...

he plays with that amazing sound which will never ever produced by a trumpet player ...

wish you all the best maurice!!!

  • ....magico....

  • maurice andre is an incredible trumpet player!! absolutely great! the organ incorporates the dark barque kind of feel. maurice andre is thee trumpet master of all time. long live maurice andre!!!!

  • I know how trumpet sounds, but that would sound like this ?!... Absolutely captivating! Organ+trumpet-and you in heaven

  • The best!

  • difficile trattenere le lacrime.

  • già...è proprio vero....

  • The master Maurice Andre for many years now the best classical trumpet player of all time. He once said that with great dedication Wynton Marsalis might become the greatest trumpet player- of all time.

  • senza parole........superbo.....

  • ¡Que cantábile!

  • Unbelievable control - The Master

  • Magique

    Superbe interpretation !

  • The Adagio - the best piece Albinoni never wrote. It's now proved that someone else wrote it - much later - and just borrowed Albinoni's name.

    It's a grand piece, nevertheless.

  • @barliman2001 INDEED...It was written by Italian composer Remo Giazotto in 1945 and published by Ricordi in 1958. One wonders why he never wanted the due recognition for this marvelous piece of music.

  • @pope0331

Well, I think he just wanted the money... and it's easier with a well-known name on the title page...

    It's still under copyright!!

  • @pope0331 I love this piece and Andre's interpretation. I did a program on this recording at my Rotary club years ago and tried to research the music. I understand Giazotto recreated the music from a fragment of Albinoni's from the 1600's. Do you know how much of the original score was extant and how much Giazotto had to recreate? Is Giazotto still living?

  • @countryvicsmith According to my research, Giazzoto (who died in 1998) affirmed that he had just made an arrangement, but the truth is that he composed totally the piece. The excerpt that he used was only six measures of a basso continuo that was supposed to be the second mov. of a trio sonata. Other famous composer that did the same thing (embarrased to acknowledge his talent) was Fritz Kreisler

  • The best "celebre adagio" version so far. The song was written as a funeral celebration. Who would not want this particular performance by Maurice Andre to be their home going celebration, just before entering paradise...

  • Not to slow or to fast it's just how he wanted it so that makes it AMAZING!!! Just got this piece sent to me and he really has made this his own!!!

  • this is amaizing... first trumpet man in the wolrd... I love this song...

  • No one comes close to play like him. He is simply the best!

  • Does anyone know which is the publisher of this score? The arrangement is by Jean-Michel Defaye. But how can I do to find the score? Thanks!

  • Maurice Andre -Master of Trumpet-

  • buenisimo very good

  • very beautiful. who's the organist?

  • Hedwig Bilgram

  • @stefss The organist is not Bilgram but Jane Parker Smith as you can read on the booklet of this cd.

  • @stefss Mo'fucking Hed-win.

  • @frice007

    Deine mutti

  • @frice007

    Deine mutti

  • Deine mutti!!!!

  • @Potya30. I don't know him/her (?). bravo. thank you. :-)

  • GP AY

  • he's the best! it could have been a bit faster but it stays a very good piece.

  • A bit faster it would not have been an Adagio ;)

  • I think you should probably go 8-12 bpm faster and still been an Adagio...

  • I like Maurice!!!!! He is such a nice man and such a good musician!!!!
