Ah yes, I remember the Popcano Springs Massacre as if it were yesterday. The sky was grey, the forest dark. You could hear nothing but the clash of steel on plastic, the spilling of water. Later, as we looted the plastic shells of our enemies those shrooms I ate for their +1 to 1 handed weaps came back to haunt me.
@CenrionPrime : That's a myth. In fact, swords were kept very sharp. The kind of hollywood, edge-to-edge parrying you see in movies seldom occurred. The shield was the parrying weapon, the sword for attack. These one-handed cutting swords were specifically meant for fast attacks against lightly protected areas of the body, legs and forearms being favourite. One of those period swords in the sagas was given a personal name of Leg-Biter.
@althesmith i know this cause i do swordfighting, some swords had been sharpen only in the upper half cause not everybody had a shield or lost it in battle. very nice sword soon i have money i will buy it haha
@CenrionPrime : I've been forging swords since about 1990 so I've studied them a fair bit myself. Edge-parrying did happen, but it was not a preferred method as it was very damaging to the blade. A sword is a very poor impact weapon, especially of this type- the mass is low (about 2.5 lbs) and the weight distribution entirely wrong for an impact weapon. Without a decent edge, you lose most of the effectiveness.
Niiiice. You were shaving those things.
