Those 44% are really getting laughed at by most of the rest of the world. Hopefully, in a few decades, Americans will be laughing slightly ashamedly at how firm of a hold literalist Christianity had on their nation a few decades back.
@andreasdrg They maybe unfortunately but very probably will, but in that case is does not make them right! Just like doing things that are normal may not be right, like stealing, lying and so forth. Now you may ask or state that stealing and so on is not normal, but that would in fact not be true because everyone has lied and probably everyone in the western civilisation have stolen something, which would make lying, stealing and so on normal. @ageofgrace - Mt 23 sort of does (it's vague), but 24 definitely predicts the end of the world, without question:
Mt 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
...
24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
@gekritzl To say that Jesus predicted an end to the world "in the disiples generation" is a complete misunderstanding of Greek and the well established underpinnings of biblical meanings from the Old Testement. You cannot just rip something out of the bible and apply it to your "pet" theology.
ageofgrace - read Matthew Ch. 23, predic3ting the end of the world within "this generation" (23;36). See Rom 2;5, and Rev Ch 4, onward. Those are the "rapture" and "Parousia" they're talking about.
but even if they are intelligent the faithful disbelief in scientific fact (theory) is a dangerous reality that requires us to fight against ignorance...I think the response to the recent literature on Anti-Theism indicates that they are truly fighting against us
I don't deny that there are "intelligent believers," but once you throw out the delusive fear of death, faith simply isn't necessary. It explains nothing, and the recent catastrophe in Haiti underlines this point. Random natural disasters that claim 10s of 1000s of lives are precisely the kind of events that we would expect to happen in a world without God where life arose by accident from natural causes.
if so many christians believe there going to be raptured why dont they just stop voting so our country can elect rational leaders and pass sane legislation.
What unbelievable inanity.I just love it when these egotistical dimwits predict my future. He's not crazy?Pick up a dictionary, and you'll find this guy is the quintessential example of insane.
I love the part about how Jesuse is going to let the internet stay up after the rapture.....So, the jesus freaks are going to be lifted up....and the rest of us will be burning in the fires of remorse yet some will be checking email to get the letters from their relatives from that stupid fucking website.....WTF?
if god is so godamn powerfull !!!!!!!!why doesent he just finish off the devil and we can be at peace man seriously he needs 2 use common sense ggggggs and this is fucken hilarious god on the net i hope he will email me lol or text me too i wonder what hes number will be 777-777-777
The word "Rapture" appears nowhere in the Bible, and no Christian will be saved the trials and tribulations of being a Christian. If that were true, the Christians tortured and hacked to pieces in Darfur would have been spared that hideous living nightmare. You will have to endure the tortures that await and your true faith tested - No "get out of tribulation free" cards will be issued - sorry. God doesn't want a bunch of pussies in Heaven with no balls.

human being are not animals- animals are not human beings and have never been- satan- a spiritual being an angel can interpose himself in and upon a physical thing and in this case an animal under the guise of making it look like it is ascended and wise -this is the lie of evolution
What motivates this sort of ridiculous nonsense? Why can't you see that NONE OF IT MAKES ANY DAMN SENSE?
Look, Bronze Age minds came up with this idea. There is no shame in finally admitting that, hey, you were mistaken, taken in by the popularity of the ridiculous idea, and just get on with living in the REAL world.
"human being are not animals- animals are not human beings and have never been- satan- a spiritual being an angel can interpose himself in and upon a physical thing and in this case an animal under the guise of making it look like it is ascended and wise -this is the lie of evolution"

evolution is a smokescreen--satan is masterfully cunning being who is an angelic spirit who works lying signs and wonders : this spiritual- non physical being possessed a serpent a large snake a physical being causing it to speak- the very thing that atheists are inferring-is that the bible is not true- by saying animals cant speak because that is not rational -which paradoxically is what evolution indireclty teaches -that humans and animal are one and the same- this is the nature of deception
athiests seek to convince people that there is no spiritual reality there is no hope for mankind except us - it the atheists of this world that will be first people who will to cry for peace for world government - the new world order- will seek to bring order out of chaos -that is to say the hegelian dialectic-problem reaction solution-it is profound to note that that very evolutionary concept is actually new age and is hence spiritual although it is spiritual deception-with demonic wisdom
I'm an atheist, but if your bullshit "End Times" actually occurred, I would gladly side with Lucifer and the rebel angels even if it meant damnation. The god of Judaism/Christianity/Islam is a murderous psychopath and would deserve to be bitterly opposed if he existed.
Good thing Yahweh, Buddha, Vishnu, and all the rest are damnable lies.
your comment has 6 thumbs up. It seems like on the internet, christians are really dying off and have little say. Knowledge is power, christians can't cover up all the bullshit that's online - so truth prevails
many people dont realize the atheists the humanists of this world do not understand that the word "rational" actually means -what the atheists means by rational is that you have a gorilla as a relative -relatively speaking-( joke} there is time to go into the delivery room of the hospital and smarten up things produce after thir own kind...this is indisputable consistent demonstratable and rational and remember the world doesnt revolve around you..............
Okay, I was a Christian, and I can tell you from personal experience that yes, Christians are crazy. They're emotionally driven and their rationality is disarmed.
Please, please keep tossing reason and opposition at all religion.
i almost hope the rapture happens, not that i think it will, but it would be great to see the religious maniacs be gone with, go go go leave us in peace please
Most christians do not even begin to understand the intended meaning the old testament stories they . To begin with it is half a teaching and many things are taken the wrong way. Like creation for example. The book does not mean to convey a point in time when the universe began but that it is a continual process. The story of adam and eve describes the interaction between matter (adam) and energy (serpent) and the space they operate in (form) is Eve
Humanity is not only astoundingly stupid but we are all screwed having to live around religious morons who spout certainty where they have none. How could aliens do anything else but laugh at us when we destroy ourselves from our own stupidity.
Christians have believed Jesus was coming back in their own lifetime ever since he was crucified. Obviously they were all wrong. Why do they continue to believe this?
wow, you just missed his point entirely. And did I hear that guy say 144,000 male virgin jews? Heaven's just going to be a fucking cock fest, a circumcised cock fest. No thanks, I choose hell. That's where all the free-spirited sexual women go, right?
Nichogue, Your comment made me laugh so hard that I had to put my client on hold for three and a half minutes in a desperate attempt to regain composure... This was memorable!
globetrekker2. i have to disagree. "god is in charge" that is a negetive thought. YOU control you're destiny. YOU control the world you live in. the world is shit so do something about it, dont wait for 'god' to fix it for you. wake up everyday with that attitude and then the world would be a much better place.
The scary part is these religious nutjobs (W) have their fingers on our nuclear buttons. These are the kinds of people that will make "the end of days" a self-fulfilling prophecy.
you are basing your belief in a book written by humans that God told them to write down all the chapters in the bible. For a "supreme being" who supposed to be perfect and with out fault, I would like to point out how stupid it was of God to not give Adam and Eve the ten commandments and a written bible at the beginning of humankind so there would not be any doubt 1. there is a God; and 2. what rules are to be followed.
Lol, I just noticed the rapture letters guy was in the episode of '30 days' where the atheist moves in w/ a family of christians... He was just kinda sitting in the background at this bible meeting...
Anyways, This video is almost painful to watch... guy should be locked up in the fucking nut house.
Christianity has no affect? I'm sorry, but I don't buy it. I believe that we're in Iraq because of the christian elecorate (44%?). Bush got elected because of them. 9/11 strengthend their will and made them vigilant. Their support of Israel will not end until the rapture. Islam is the perfect enemy. Not only is it an enemy of Israel, but its followers are every bit as stubborn as christians. Religion, in my view, becomes a tool in tough times, to be used by the powerful for war and terrorism.
The Bible is just an ordinary book written by men. Scientology is an equally valid religion as any other. All bullshit, all dangerous and all followed only by people who do not or cannot think for themselves. Preferring to think that all the answers they will ever need are in a fictious book. Quoting the Bible is no different from quoting Lord of the Rings.
Scott, You've already lost your head--to superstition. You gave up your reason. I used to believe in a god. By the age of 35, I had overcome the fear religion instills and had the courage to ask myself, "What if there really is no god?" I'm 66 now and since I asked that question and decided to study where religion came from, I have only become more confident that religion and all it entails is only superstition. Your thinking is dangerous. Lois
I've been wearing clothes made from two different threads. Is Jesus gonna send me to hell? I got this big science project so I can't really die right now.
I can't wait until Jesus returns. That's gonna be sooooo coooool! I hope he will still let us have the internet. I also hope there are no suits and no church. I just want to hangout and learn stuff. And maybe go on adventures with my robot friend.
I think it is time to ban christianity as a religion, and start executing christians for our own good and the sake of the species survival. These people are seriously mentally ill and need to be sent on their way to Jebus. Same goes for muslims. Amen.
unamendable: No, thanks. That would be the atheist version of the inquisition or witch burnings. I won't lend my support to any such enterprise. Sam Harris' idea of conversational intolerance is a far more appealing option.
It may sound cruel but I would love to be at each of these idiot's deathbeds to laugh at them. Where was he? Why didn't he come? These people deserve no respect at all. It is precisely this kind of religious insanity which is the cause of all the trouble in the world. The figure for the generation that have now dies was 49% by the way! I cannot find statistics for the generation prior but it must have been above 50%! People better start waking up soon.
Oh, I am not so sure they wouldn't sqabble over the crater. They would say... "This is the deed of the Mighty Fist of Jahwee." Then the other guy; "Noh, noh... Thhiz is the woork of Allahhh. The Magnificent Smither." And then of course, the Christians might say; "Here we see a perfect example of Christ's charity, and equality, for he nuked Jerusalem, a city sacred to all Abrahamic religions." And soon, they would be fighting again, for that is the nature of religions with jealous gods...
I think many poeple, not just christians, would see a silver lining to the jerusalem mushroom cloud. On the face of it it would seem that few muslims, christians and jews would be bothered with squalbling over a glass crater rendered unlivable for another 250 years. The real concern is over how the remaining nations react militarily to such an event.
Mushroom cloud over Jerusalem? Silver lining? Not if they have actually read the bible. I'm pretty sure events have to occur in Jerusalem as a precursor to the Rapture. In fact, if I remember correctly a mushroom cloud over Jerusalem I think would signal that the Rapture will never come.
Anyone who seriously believes in "The Rapture" should be considered mentally ill and treated accordingly and ABSOLUTELY barred from voting and holding public office.
Mat 24:3 "And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what [shall be] the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Hi; The rapture was suppose to happen approximately one generation after Israel became a nation,it did not happen,I was just like you back in 1970 what a dissapointment.
Eugh, silly GodForum. . . Harris is simply showing how easy it is to kill a plethora of cells simply by scratching your nose, with the aim of comparing it to the argument that an unborn foetus contains around the same amount of cells, yet no Christians are in uproar over people scratching their nose.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
So for atheists cells are all the same ... the cells from scratching your nose are equal to the cells of a future baby ? And you listen to this idiot ?
Yes! They are both a collection of human cells, and both have a potentail for life under the right manipulation. And you took Sam Harris' quote from a discussion on Stem Cell research, in which he clearly demonstrates how they are the same!
That's not me talking about the rapture in the video. If you didn't notice what I've put in the description already, it says that this is an excerpt from Brian Flemming's documentary "The God Who Wasn't There".
The bible is a fairytale. Simple as that. The sooner you realize this FACT, the sooner we can all get along with being human and moral, without a fictional tale telling us how to murder our brethren. Not to forget the misogynistic message it portrays as well. Put the stupid book down and read a simple high school biology textbook and learn about reality. It's actually pretty cool stuff. First you have to open your delusioned mind that was brainwashed by religion.
Hey, I agree that biology is reality; how did I not say that. As for a fairy tale, the Bible, is the most historic reliable book against all other books from antiquity. More manuscript evidence and copies of copies have been preserved and transmitted throughout the millenia. This was not just a religion that 12 people decided to make up. By the way there's independant testimony from historians and philosophers about Christ, his teachings, etc. So are you saying humans decide morals?
You obviously have misinterpreted the Bible from it's hermenutical standpoint, and theological absolues."without a fictional tale telling us how to murder our brethren. Not to forget the misogynistic message it portrays as well".
Sam Harris, I believe, could do amazing things with the country if he had some form of a political position. However, thanks to our "Christian Nation", it will NEVER happen.
It might be worth being around at the end of the world just to watch these idiotic Christians looking up at the sky and waiting for a Christ that is never going to come. Morons.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
science still did not understand the concept of germs back then ... scientists are always behind and keep changing their science books to keep ahead of what was ALREADY known.
"For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."
That's not just delusion, that's insanity.

@agNo...Sorry
Matt 23 does not predict the end of the world in this generation.
What Matt 23 says if you read it, is.........
JUDGEMENT of unbelieveing Israel in this generation.
Something that was actually fulfilled in 70 AD.
The end of the world and rapture as current day sensationalists describe it is a non-biblical doctrine.
Secular critics have a right to laugh at it. It is incorrect and very damaging to the Churcheofgrace

Yes I see what you are assuming, however the term world is not a very accurate translation from Greek.
The more accurate translayion is AGE. the end of the AGE.
The disiples were wondering about the end of the age of temple priest and sacrifice.
Jesus had told them a day was coming when they would no longer worship at the temple and the sacrifice would stop.
ageofgrace 1 year ago
@gekritzl Jesus is saying that this AGE would end in their lifetime. (and it did) in 70 AD
it is the word kai (kahee) means age and by implication in the context of the chapter "the world".
The Jewish world . Not the world or earth.
I think you will find this gives a much clearer understading to what Jesus is saying.
ageofgrace 1 year ago
@gekritzl To say that Jesus predicted an end to the world "in the disiples generation" is a complete misunderstanding of Greek and the well established underpinnings of biblical meanings from the Old Testement. You cannot just rip something out of the bible and apply it to your "pet" theology.
ageofgrace 1 year ago
ageofgrace - read Matthew Ch. 23, predic3ting the end of the world within "this generation" (23;36). See Rom 2;5, and Rev Ch 4, onward. Those are the "rapture" and "Parousia" they're talking about.

ClumsyRoot 2 years ago 12
but even if they are intelligent the faithful disbelief in scientific fact (theory) is a dangerous reality that requires us to fight against ignorance...I think the response to the recent literature on Anti-Theism indicates that they are truly fighting against us
jclark03 2 years ago 3
@ClumsyRoot

God doesn't want a bunch of pussies in Heaven with no balls.

evolution is a smokescreen--satan is masterfully cunning being who is an angelic spirit who works lying signs and wonders : this spiritual- non physical being possessed a serpent a large snake a physical being causing it to speak- the very thing that atheists are inferring-is that the bible is not true- by saying animals cant speak because that is not rational -which paradoxically is what evolution indireclty teaches -that humans and animal are one and the same- this is the nature of deception

First you have to open your delusioned mind that was brainwashed by religion.
saxmanchiro 3 years ago 4
Hey, I agree that biology is reality; how did I not say that. As for a fairy tale, the Bible, is the most historic reliable book against all other books from antiquity. More manuscript evidence and copies of copies have been preserved and transmitted throughout the millenia. This was not just a religion that 12 people decided to make up. By the way there's independant testimony from historians and philosophers about Christ, his teachings, etc. So are you saying humans decide morals?
