This is actually not really a cover. Air and Phoenix co-wrote this song. In the original version, it is Thomas Mars who is singing, and it is also him who wrote the lyrics. And of course the original version is wonderful, and you can't beat it, but I like this acoustic version too.

it's a cover yes, but thomas does sing the original vocals on the air track. =) he sings under the name "gordon tracks". so you will find the song on the virgin suicides soundtrack. =)
