  • The graphics look great, but how the hell are you expected to play this when there's a damn cutscene every 10 seconds? I mean, practically every shot you fire, or every hit the enemy takes, switches to a cutscene. If I wanted "cinematic" views of the action, I'd watch some anime.

What idiot came up with the idea of inserting cut scenes into the middle of a firefight?

  • It's a trailer. It's supposed to be cinematic. In the actual game it won't be like that.

  • Are you sure? I don't have a state of the art system anymore, so I haven't played many recent games, but even in older ones I noticed a disturbing trend to insert cutscenes into the middle of the action. Elite Force II had cutscenes in the middle of the boss battle with the super borg.

Besides, what's the logic in making a trailer that shows what the gameplay WON'T be like? It's like "See this really cool stuff? You won't be seeing any of that in the actual game." Yeah, that makes sense...

  • It´s a TRAILER, not actual game footage. It combines real gameplay with cutscenes to make it more interesting...it´s pretty obvious.

  • Ok, but my questions still stands; Why make a trailer that shows you what the gameplay won't be like?

Nobody buys games for the cutscenes, so why feature them so heavily in the trailer? People buy games for the gameplay, so why not concentrate on showing what it's actually like?

In fact, I happen to think that cutscenes are heavily over-used in today's games. They take the player out of the game and break the illusion. Not to mention that 75% of them are just useless eye-candy.

  • @dercker

Yeah. There's a great interwiew at IGN for this. They're going to make this more reAlistic. You'll have various tools and be able to use the light scout mechs to be able to locate enemy mechs.

  • okay.. as far as i can tell (from wikipedia and google), this game is being designed by the same guy who made MW, MW2 and MW3. gods, seeing how good MW3 was, i hope this one makes it. and i definitely hope they'll use the good things that microsoft threw away, like the repair vehicles and continuous pulse lasers.

  • Err yeah okay lol....

  • @ joeAuriun

well, some people get really attached to their mechs.

  • This game looks rippingly awesome. I like the graphics and the gameplay already. I do not care for the language.

  • Can't wait for this game. I liked the previous MW games, and this one looks even better

  • This looks realistic. Kind of. I'm getting this game.

  • do want.

  • This looks badass like back in the day it was badass!

  • I hope it's not a console piece of shit, as long as it's a SIM like the early Mechwarrior's were.

  • it's for PC and 360

  • I am aware.. That is why I am worried, good chance it will not be a SIM but an arcade for consoles and that fucks over PC.

  • well from this trailer, it will hopefully be like mechwarrior 3 and 4, and less like mech assault

  • yeah from the trailer we can assume its a sim because of the in cockpit combat but then again i don't see how this will work with a controller

  • I hope we'll get a console port as well, my computer won't be able to play this but a PS3 version would rule.

  • It 's coming to the Xbox360 and PC.

Not for PS3 from what i read.

  • The end of the trailer clearly states:

"MechWarrior is the registered and unregistered trademark(s) of Microsoft Corporate in the United States and other jurisdiction."

  • Pay attention to the end of the trailer:

"MechWarrior is the registered and unregistered trademark(s) of Microsoft Corporate in the United States and other jurisdiction."

FYI, Microsoft *owns* the BattleTech/MechWarrior franchise.

  • wow i thought microsoft sold the copyright to smith and tinker after FASA bombed but i guess not. Well this means no mechwarrior on ps3. Honestly though i hope it's not on any console. It should stay true to it's roots and be a PC only game

  • No. It only owns the Mechwarrior franchise, meaning the video games/console games. The actual tabletop game system is still completely separate from Microsoft's direct control.

  • OMFG!

    A new MECHWARRIOR!
